Samsung AKG USB-C Headphones Black

Be warned. Samsung advertise this as "Designed to be sturdy and reliable" In my case it was neither of those things. Purchased in June 2021. Stopped charging in September 2021 due to moisture detected in charging port. Sent it off to Samsung who advised, it had signs of water damage and as a result the warranty is voided and it required a new screen (battery included), main board and charging port. This damage appears to have been caused by watching a film in the bath . Dropping it in the bath with water.(*IP68 rating deems devices fit enough to withstand dust, dirt, and water. Water resistance rating is based on test conditions of submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Not advised for beach or pool use.) Spent £450 pounds when buying and now told it will cost 250 to repair the above after 3 months of use. Samsung do great TV's and Phones but the tablet that is advertised as strong enough for tough environments could not survive my bath.

I don't own one of these and I haven't seen one in real life. But I must say that Samsung finally listened to consumer complaints and made a rugged phone and ditched the curved display. Cellphones are part of our lives now, we do everything with them, they are not some jewellery or accessory to complement your clothing. I don't know anyone who buys an expensive fancy phone and uses it without a case or a protective cover. You buy a fancy, fragile phone, and right away you buy a case and a screen protector to keep it looking new, so your brand new attractive looking phone is hidden inside an ugly black rugged case and a screen protector that keeps falling off or peeling off due to the useless curved display or you can't properly handle the phone as your fingers are ... MoreI don't own one of these and I haven't seen one in real life. I would like to try this phone when I can get my hands on it, but the camera quality is another important part of a cellphone for me. I am a photographer and I always carried a small good quality pocket camera with me, just in case. I have stopped doing that since the release of the S22 Ultra. I use it for landscapes, food photography, macro and sometimes for portraits. I'd like to see these rugged cellphones to have as good cameras as their top of the line models. XCover6 Pro is a move in the right direction, I am hoping that they will have a few models to choose from with some higher specs.

I record stuff on my phone from time to time, so mic quality is very important to me. When they broke, I tried 3 or 4 pairs of "OEM replacements" on eBay, and all were all fakes. I recently signed a S20+ from Fido and the "legit" USB-C headphone they sent me sucked, sound is great, but nobody can hear me. Apple wired headphone is my second choice, but it's like 35ish? I came across this item on sale (50% off) during Black Friday and immediately purchased two pairs. If they have the same sale again, I would buy 5 more pairs. The new ones came in a little white box with spacious layers, keeping the extra ear pieces separate. Everything was secured in place. At first glance, they looked like the old ones I've had. The akg logo is replaced by samsung, and the logo plate is thinner and has a shiny plastic finish, whereas the old design had a metallic finish. The new design goes for a matte black silicon look. The thick semi-transparent layer covering the speaker is replaced by a thin black layer. The L/R sign is barely visible, subtly carved on the inside with a small dot under L. The old design had threaded wires, which I liked at first. However, that threaded design killed my headphones, wires were tangled inside the threaded fabric. The new design has everything in matte black silicon, which feels nice. The mic uses semi-shiny plastic material. It felt like the fakes from eBay, but quiet when you press the control buttons.Now onto the actual performance. The sound quality is good, just like old ones. Not thumping, not tinny, not muffled. Not an audiophile, so I can't really give you any specs. Music sound vibrant and netflix sounded like netflix. Isolation is alright, but the ear pieces are smaller than before. I used to use the medium-sized ear piece, but now I have to use large. I also switch sides when I wear the old ones and they would fit perfectly, but the new ones would slide out. I now wear them by labelled L/R but upside down. Sound isolation is meh, I can still hear outside noises when watching youtube videos. The microphone is the best among other wired headphones in the same or less price range. If I sing or voice over, the audio is clear, close, and not muffled. My voice is not too warm and not roomy. When I speak, my volume is constant and do not sound at a distance. I don't need to stuff the microphone in my mouth just to capture my voice. When I whisper into the mic, I still sound clear like asmr.Con: Hard to find this product page.
