Do not buy if you listen to podcasts

Great phone if you don't listen to podcasts. It has a feature, where if you're listening to audio with pauses, like a conversation, it will switch off the audio output after about a second of dead-air, then switch it back on again when it the signal starts up again. The issue is there's a lag when it starts up again, so you end up missing the first few words of the following sentence. It happens if your listening to Bluetooth or through the usb port, but not through the internal speaker. All in all, if you are looking for a phone that can handle a multitude of tasks at once, need something with a great range for reception, awesome camera captures (inc video) and are linking several programs at once - this is the unit you are looking for. The only way to add more value would be to add the Samsung Care +, just in case you are prone to breakages ;)

You used to be able to swipe left or right, like when viewing text whether in a form or document or URL, but now you have to drag the marker to where you want to go in the text, but it moves too fast so you have to keep going back and forth until you get to where you want to be (to edit a word, for example)The copy function is iratic and not user-friendly at all and I use this feature constantly! Sometimes, when you press and hold, to start copying, it just brings up a magnification view. I'll keep trying and trying, but it just won't bring up the copy feature. You have to completely exit and close everything out and go back in and see if it works (and sometimes the copy will then work). This is a huge hassle when you were trying to copy something from a website, because then you have to navigate back to the website, find the section you were trying to copy, etc., etc. Also, sometimes, you have to try like 6, 7, 8+ times before it registers and starts to copy - it's like I have to press extremely hard (I feel like I'm going to crack the screen, that's how hard you have to press; and it hurts my finger!)The keyboard is too sensitive and keeps bringing up special characters when I swipe text.Keyboard is not that great at detecting my words when swipe texting and I have to keep editing.Voice input is not that great at detecting my speech and I don't have a speech impediment or anything. For example, I kept saying "thick" and it would not put that word no matter how many times I tried (which was about 12 times); it kept putting "sick". I have up and just typed it.Google Assistant is really bad. It hardly ever brings up correct information to my questions. For example, I might ask "Where are the bubble popups for Facebook Messenger?" and Google will respond with information that has nothing to do with my question or even Facebook! It'll come back with something totally irrelevant, like "The gravity on the moon is...."I don't like that you have to drag the top notification bar all the way down to the bottom of the screen to adjust brightness. It should be just 1 swipe down (like 1/4 of the way down) like it used to be or put it in the volume button options.

Great phone after working around some settings
4 March 2022

Moved from the Google Pixel line and needed a phone that implements all the Google software well. I was thrilled when I was upgraded to the bigger storage option when I pre-ordered the Green Samsung S22+ but after living with it for a few days the short comings started appearing. The battery life wasn't that great. What I gathered from it in that short time was that the device kept searching for a 5G connection and where I live I get a very weak signal of 5G and its always bouncing between 5G and 4G. In the phone settings there is no allowed option to switch to 4G LTE which would be a more efficient option on the phone battery since it's not constantly dropping in and out of 5G, so I downloaded an app that allows me to switch the phone into 4G LTE manually and keep ... MoreMoved from the Google Pixel line and needed a phone that implements all the Google software well. In the phone settings there is no allowed option to switch to 4G LTE which would be a more efficient option on the phone battery since it's not constantly dropping in and out of 5G, so I downloaded an app that allows me to switch the phone into 4G LTE manually and keep it there. I don't need 5G just a phone that implements Google software the way it should with no glitches and constantly hoping for a software patch to fix the bugs. Secondly while the phone can peak at Max brightness, don't do it, I set my brightness manually and keep it set at about 65% brightness unless I am in a bright room or in a dark room I manually adjust it since letting the phone do it on its own just drains more battery since it's learning your environment and what you are doing. I also set a dark theme on my phone, I have always had a dark theme even before it was a manufacturers option on the device through third party launchers. While the device can throttle the screen refresh rate between 1hz to 120hz I have my device fixed at 60hz just so I am not putting to much strain on the processor and in turn draining the battery when I am jump between tasks such as; watching a YouTube video, typing emails, reading a manual or making a phone call. This device has some features that make it great but they are costing you battery life, and after living with it for a week I learned about some settings that have helped me get about 10 hours worth of battery life through out the day without worrying that I don't have time to charge it. I use a standard 18w wall charger so the fast charging capabilities don't lessen the overall battery life, so I can hopefully get 4 years out of this device. There is a learning curve to the S22+ but once you tweak your settings the experience becomes better.

I absolutely hate this phone
30 July 2024

My Galazy s8 that I had for years was better than this. I bought this for what was supposed to be an excellent camera. Nope! Every update it gets worse. The camera on this is terrible and the phone is so glitchy and problematic. I bought mine brand new when it was released and I feel completely ripped off. This is the last time I pay over a grand for anything that is clearly not a good value and depreciated by 70% in under two years. In fact I don't think I will be purchasing another Samsung product at all.

New phone / New Challenges
7 January 2023

The challenges of a new phone can be frustrating. I've been a fan of Samsung from my first Galaxy Note 4 smart phone. I tend to keep my phones 3 to 4 years. Because of the rapid improvements I tend to be behind on the latest technologies, but 9+ was starting to have numerous issues.I debated several times moving to 5G and the S22 series. I picked the plus since it was closest to my 9. I initiated the new phone after receiving it directly from Verizon. It was not as smooth as previous transitions and I'm still tweaking things. My biggest complaint is the elimination of the biometric sensor on the phone. I used it several times a day to check health conditions. That drove me to buy a new galaxy watch, since my active 2 lacked an SP02 Capability. Haven't experimented much with the camera but do like the 3 lenses especially the wider angle capability.

Overall Decent, Minor Preference Issues
7 January 2023

I bought the S22+ to replace my old tired phone, and I only bought one of the newer phones on the market in hopes it'll last just as many years as my previous. However, minor personal preference issues are present (as with most new phones). My biggest issue overall is the lack of a MicroSD Card Slot, as I usually store my larger size or quantity of files on there, and transfer to SD Card over when (files such as 1hr Long Videos that were recorded, or my 73gb of Music, as I don't like live services such as Spotify). Another issue is lack of headphone jack, I usually use wired earbuds to listen to said 73gb of downloaded Music. Last an biggest issue, just the price of the phone, which mostly isn't a problem, except that it has been inflated further due to larger internal storage, and unnecessary cameras

Very good, but many seriously annoying bugs.
28 January 2023

Overall a very good phone, much improved over previous Galaxy I had. But many bugs, Verizon says they and Samsung are working on them. For example: If I start a text message to one or several people and then try to attach a photo (one that the phone took), I instantly get a message saying the photo is too large to send, dead in the water. If I start in Gallery (photos) instead and select the exact same photo, then click on Share, I can text it without issue, albeit sometimes limited to a selection of one addressee. Go figure. Also, if I am dictating a reply text, no issue, but if I am initiating a text and dictating (voice to text), it catches the first word of my first sentence and then the microphone stops, only that first word is there. I have to turn the mic back on to continue, not a lot of work but annoying, Dumb, inexcusable, fundamental bugs, not subtle or rare things. But the screen, camera, control buttons, all great. Battery life great, too.No removable memory card for things like photos, so i wanted the max phone memory. Verizon store offered me the 128-Gb, I asked if that was the largest memory available and they said yes, bought it, but later found that there is a 256-Gb version. Get what you need, no future expansion or adding a memory card.Probably common to all new phones these days, you can't just operate and use the phone. Almost every time you open the phone or an app, you have to wade through one or more screens with tough-to-find "close" buttons, offering this help, that service, this to buy, that to activate. Leave me alone and let me just use it my phone as a phone, not an obnoxious marketing tool for which I am the perpetual and helpless target. Sheepish!! For literally the hundredth time, I do NOT want to set up Bixby and no I do not want to set up automatic notifications in advance and no I don't want to buy the app I will use the Internet. Criminal.

Samsung will never stop spamming you with reminders to use their ecosystem and the phone will just straight up lock you out of things until you give them your info or dowload some garbage app. I remember fighting with it for days trying to get Bluetooth to connect to my car radio, all because I was missing some Samsung account and I couldn't allow the connection without this account. Every update just fixes their data collectors and changes all the icons. Samsung is a clown company.

Worst Samsung phone EVER

I use my phone all day long, driving kids to and from school and professional shopping. The internet rarely connects, most calls don't come through, (I get voicemail when phone never rang). If the call does come through, the caller can't hear me, it drops calls, won't connect Wi-Fi calling, I have to use my hotspot I had to purchase to have an internet connection. Constant network issues. This is the 2nd of this version because Verizon replaced the other with a remanufactured one. Worked fine initially but then again, the issues resurfaced. $1200 for a phone that is the worst investment I ever made. Now I have to deal with this crappy phone until it is paid off. Never will I EVER purchase the most expensive Samsung phone. Never had a problem until I bought this ... MoreI use my phone all day long, driving kids to and from school and professional shopping.
