The battery life is really good and I haven't had any issues with the phone so far - admittedly I've only had it for 2 weeks. Previously I had the S20+ which I thought was really nice until my cat knocked over a vase onto my phone and cracked the screen! Reluctantly, I decided to upgrade rather than replace the screen (£250 - £300, ouch!). I say reluctantly because I had tried to upgrade late last year to a S22 but sent it back because it wouldn't even last a full day on one charge. I was very pleased to experience the complete opposite with the S23+ which can easily make two days on one charge and that's with GPS / Location, WiFi, Mobile Data all permanently switched on. I appreciate that both the S20+ and the S23+ phones have bigger batteries than the regular models and therefore it might seem unfair to compare to the S22, but they also have much bigger screens too; I thought that a S22 would have easily matched my 3yr old S20+ for battery time but it didn't, even with the smaller screen. The S23+ has definitely been the quickest phone to set up using Samsung Smart switch, taking my complete set up including WiFi passwords and Google account but guess I'm not totally sure if that's down to the phone, the UI or both. The speakers sound good and clear, the screen is very nice and I don't have to buy any 3rd party app to enable the side button to active Google Assist instead of Bixby (via routines). The only negatives I can think of is that I can't insert an SD Card to expand storage size and, being used to the S20+, the flat shape seems a little 'blocky' - placing both phones next to each other they are both the same thickness but the S20+ appears thinner due to the curved edges. Cloud storage and the fact the S23+ has a minimum 256gb storage doesn't really make the SD Card a big issue for me personally, and it's easy to forget about the slightly 'blocky' design when the battery lasts this good.

I purchased the phone when it was first launched on Feb 8. Being an avid Samsung fan, I was so excited to have the phone that I was sure I'd fall in love with. The phone worked perfectly fine for the first 3 weeks. I loved it! Then all of a sudden, the face recognition stopped working and when I tried to reset it in the settings, the camera for face ID turned black. So I brought the phone to the Samsung store, the technicians took a look and it seemed after a reboot, the problem fixed itself. I brought the device home and not even 2 hours after I had left the store, the problem occurred again. They told me it must be a 3rd party app that is interfering with the face ID, and that I needed to delete all of the unnecessary apps that I didn't use, because they were not sure which app was causing the problem 😑. So I went through each of my app and deleted the ones I didn't use like they said. They also told me I might have to reset my phone to default settings if the problem kept happening. I brought it home and the problem insisted. Now I'm exhausted and frustrated! All of the Samsung devices I'd had were working perfectly fine with all the apps I installed. The technicians can't do anything to fix it because they themselves are not even sure which app is causing the problem, so the only thing to do is to wipe my phone clean, which is really time consuming and redundant, because I'd end up installing the same apps anyway since they are neccessary in my daily life. Now, everytime the problem occurs, I'd have to restart my phone, and it'd only work perfectly for an hour or 2 after rebooting. I've been a Samsung user since 2010, this is the first time I feel so disappointed 😞! I don't even know what to do with the phone now, I paid a lot of money for something that doesn't work properly, that even Samsung technicians can't fix.

The gadget is really quick and has a potent CPU that can easily handle even the most taxing programmes and games. With its spectacular 6.8-inch Dynamic display, which offers stunning images and vivid colours that make everything from streaming video to browsing the web enjoyable, the device is truly stunning. The Galaxy S23 Ultra stands out from the competition in part due to its meticulous attention to detail. Everything about this gadget is made to make your life simpler and more fun, from the svelte and fashionable design to the clear and user-friendly UI. One outstanding component is the S Pen, which offers a level of control and precision unparalleled by any other stylus on the market. There are a few minor issues that I have with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but no gadget is flawless, of course. Given its size, the item may be challenging for people with smaller hands to use. Additionally, given the premium features and potent processor, the battery life may be improved. The device's numerous advantages, however, significantly outweigh these modest drawbacks. In conclusion, I heartily endorse the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S918BZGFATS) to anyone shopping for a premium smartphone. This smartphone truly has it all, from the excellent camera and lightning-fast speed to the sleek and attractive appearance. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is bound to wow, whether you're a photographer, a gamer, or just someone who desires the greatest technology.

Bought this phone day of release, and arrived very quickly, in only 5 days. Upgraded from the S10+. After unboxing the phone the immediate thing that struck me was the size of the camera module and phone itself, but I like it after using it for a couple of weeks and even though the 90° edges at the bottom and top can be uncomfortable, they add a unique touch to the phone. The battery is long-lasting and is a major improvement from any lesser phone, especially one a few years old. I love the display and the colour correction on photos, however when using the 200/50mp mode there are a few sharpening details that I would rather not have. I haven't used the S Pen a lot, but when I do it's useful and gets the job done. It works well and genuinely feels like I'm using a ... I haven't used the S Pen a lot, but when I do it's useful and gets the job done. It works well and genuinely feels like I'm using a normal pen. The width of the phone can be a problem when writing sentences/diagrams, but I've found that turning the phone landscape works as a good compromise. The new chipset is fast and works well, and I love the hold of the phone and normal use is easygoing. The OS is customisable, and I particularly like the lock screen and widget customisation with Samsung phones. The one thing I have to mention that's negative is that when using the phone for the first few days, it had to catch up after the Smart Switch from my S10+. There were a few times where I had to restart my phone after an application crashed or the swipe navigation wouldn't work correctly. Other than this issue when using the phone in the first few days, everything else is smooth and I love the phone. Fitting upgrade, and I suggest getting this phone if you're stuck on a lower model that's beginning to fail on you.
As a previous Samsung Note 20 Ultra owner, I can confidently say that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is an excellent phone that builds upon the solid foundation of its predecessor. The two units share many similarities, such as their large displays, inbuilt S-pen, and fast charging capabilities. However, the S23 Ultra has several notable improvements that make it stand out. Firstly, the camera quality on the S23 Ultra is truly exceptional. With a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, you can capture stunning photos and videos in any situation. The phone feels solid and well-constructed in your hand, with a sleek design and a beautiful display that is both bright and vivid. Additionally, the S23 Ultra is equipped with a powerful processor and plenty of storage space, making it an excellent choice for anyone who needs a phone that can handle demanding tasks. One thing to note: I have experienced possible connectivity issues on both Wi-Fi and mobile networks early on, which seem to have leveled out. Overall, if you're in the market for a new phone and are considering the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I would highly recommend it. With its exceptional camera quality, solid build, and powerful performance, it's a top-of-the-line phone that is sure to impress.

The phone features an impressive quad-camera setup on the back, including a 200 MP wide-angle lens, a 10 MP periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. The phone can record video at up to 8K resolution and 30 frames per second, and features Super Steady video stabilization and HDR10+ support. On the front, there is a 12 MP selfie camera that can also record 4K video. Other features of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra include IP68 dust and water resistance, 5G connectivity, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a stylus with Bluetooth integration, and a 5000 mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The phone runs on Android 13 with Samsung's One UI 5.1 on top and has a range of sensors including an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, and barometer. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is an impressive device with top-of-the-line specifications and features that make it a solid choice for those who want the latest and greatest technology in a smartphone. However, its high price tag of €1,170 or $1,055 may be a barrier for some consumers.
OK, I think we all knew that this phone would be almost identical to the S22 Ultra. Apart from the rear lenses (to make us all purchase new cases), I haven't really seen a great difference in the latest model. I have, however, noticed that battery performance is nowhere near as good as on the S22 ultra. Reading numerous posts on various community websites, it would appear this is down to a software update in February! If this is the case, I would hope Samsung put out an update to remedy this soon. Currently the battery wouldn't last more than a few hours of medium usage. Reading numerous posts on various community websites, it would appear this is down to a software update in February! If this is the case, I would hope Samsung put out an update to remedy this soon. Currently the battery wouldn't last more than a few hours of medium usage. Neither have I noticed a massive change in performance with the Snapdragon chip (especially in the hyped increase to battery performance). This, of course, may be something to do with the large amount of bloatware Samsung put on the device! I'm of the opinion that all manufacturers need to stop putting out incidental updates, calling them new devices, when in actual fact, we can all see it is merely an update, rather than a substantially new device. I would rather wait a while longer, and actually get a much better device, apposed to minor tweaks that should and could have come in software/firmware updates. Neither have I found an opportunities, or the inclination to find anywhere to make use of the much hyped 200X camera. My only attempt to test out the advanced night vision, resulted in me tripping over a brick outside. Not go to rely on that again lol (tongue in cheek comments yes, but based on facts). Well, I have learnt from my mistakes, and this will be the last yearly upgrade I have. To be honest, there isn't much more they can do unless there is a major change in technology, so I might as well keep thus phone for a few years and save some money. In addition, the price and trade in deals available now, really don't make it a viable option, despite what the plethora of reviewers ("click on the my link in the description for an exclusive discount (given to everyone anyway!!!)) would have us believe. Clearly not only do they get a free device in addition to payment for their reviews, few are honest with their reviews rather giving a personalised script to read. Rant over! Honestly, I wouldn't personally recommend anyone upgrading from the S22 Ultra, rather "miss a beat" and see what comes out next year or so. In addition to letting 6G roll out and let it get itself established. Hopefully we should also see battery technology change with the increasing demand on performance and stability, hopefully giving us batteries that do actually give us more than a few "real world scenario" hours of usage. Now wouldn't that be good. Regrettably, I'm not as impressed with the S23 ultra as I had hoped to be, and to the same extent I was with the new Samsung Watch 5 Pro, which actually lives up to the hype. Sorry again for the rant. However, this is my honest opinion.
I originally planned on trading in my S22 Ultra to free myself from the subpar 8 Gen 1 performance and questionable battery life. But, as life is full of unexpected turns, I found myself holding a phone that felt not like one generational leap, but two. Starting from the build quality and industrial design language, the immediate thing I noticed was the level of refinement achieved over the S22 Ultra of yesteryear. Not only the ergonomics of the phone have been greatly improved thanks to slightly rounded squared-off edges, but the precision in material tolerances has been greatly improved. Compared to its predecessors (S22 Ultra, S21 Ultra, and Note20 Ultra) Samsung has completely removed any rough edges found on any surface transitions on the device. This, combined ... This, combined with a refined design language that makes for a completely different feel despite the upgrade from the S22 Ultra to the S23 Ultra appearing to be incremental. Performance-wise, the jump is as big as it gets. Gaming performance has increased greatly over the entirety of Samsung's lineup in the past with the only concern being the power behaviour. Drawing up to 6.4 on average in heavier games is quite concerning considering other phones draw significantly less. But this isn't to say they haven't improved, getting a 50 - 60 frames per second at 6.4 watts average is much better than the 25 - 30 frames per second at more 7 watts I was getting with their previous phones. In everyday usage, not only the battery life is almost on par with my testing with Apple's Pro Max line (12 through to 14), but the phone runs a lot cooler in daily tasks; I found YouTube playback on the 5G network to be a lot more stable and cooler compared to the S22 Ultra or even the Z Fold4. Camera performance was not something I had expected to have such a big improvement. Yes, our world can be filled with marketing making us make biased decisions, but I believe Samsung was not exaggerating with their new wide module. I initially joked about the 200mp sensor as just another gimmick considering the sensor size hasn't vastly increased compared to the competition, but after using it in the real world, I was quickly proven wrong. Not only the 200mp mode is usable with adequate HDR, but the 12mp binned images were impressively void of oversharpening compared to the S22 Ultra. Skin tones have also vastly improved with the AI treatment being minimally invasive with a tasteful skin softening while keeping surface imperfections intact. Think of a detailed portrait that doesn't look gritty but is presentable. This improvement in processing and colour science is also transferred to all the other lenses. The last but probably the most important thing is media consumption. The first thing I noticed after setting up my phone was the speakers. From the S7, Samsung's speakers had been questionable (outside of their foldable line-up which has very performant speakers) but this year, they have redeemed themselves with flagship-grade speakers. The sub-bass performance is not industry-leading, but the mids and upper mids are very well represented. Treble could be a little harsh at times, but the speaker performance is significantly more pleasant than other Android handsets. Distortion is still present at higher volumes, but this is expected on all smartphones at volumes beyond 70%. Comparing to the competition, the speakers can not be directly compared to Apple's speakers - as their tonality is completely different - but purely from their performance, Samsung has finally caught up. Overall, the days of me pointing my friends towards the iPhone over the Samsung is over. In fact, I have been trying to reel them in from their decision to move to Galaxy again. I trust the S23 Ultra during my double shifts to not require a visit to the wall for power and trust it will perform well when I need it. This review is extremely brief, and its positive facade only covers the most notable changes I've found. There is a lot more I can discuss, but in hindsight, this is not the platform to explore deeper. Samsung has finally done it this year and have delivered a not just satisfactory product, but a revolution in their S line in the right direction.
As someone who recently upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy A52 4G, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has been a massive improvement in terms of performance and features. The S23 Ultra's large 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display is incredibly vibrant and bright, making videos and games come to life. Before, on the A52 I had difficulty being able to see my phone while outside on a sunny day, on the S23 Ultra this is no longer a problem. The camera system on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is absolutely outstanding. The 108-megapixel primary camera produces detailed and sharp images, even in low-light conditions, making it perfect for capturing memories. The 10-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom is an added bonus, allowing for clear and detailed images even at a distance. The camera app comes with many useful features, including Pro mode, Night mode, and Super Slow-mo, which have been a lot of fun to experiment with. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's overall performance and features are unparalleled. The phone's powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset make multitasking a breeze, and the 5000mAh battery lasts for over a full day with my usage. The device's 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC are all top-notch features that have made the overall experience of using the phone seamless. Overall, if you are looking for a high-end device with a great camera and top-of-the-line performance, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is definitely worth considering if you don't mind the premium price tag, especially if you are coming from a Samsung Galaxy A52 4G or a similar device.
Samsung have really exceeded all expectations with the 23 Ultra. I used to have the 22 Ultra which was great but had a few sore points, mainly with the battery life, but that's completely changed with the 23 Ultra. The battery life is excellent, even better than the iPhone Pro max range in real world use, I'm quite a heavy user for work and TV etc and I don't need to worry about the battery lasting, it also charges quickly if you need to. The performance is incredible, the screen as you come to expect from Samsung is perfect, just the right size and aspect ratio, big and immersive while comfortable to hold. The thing I think that most surprised me is how polished everything seems with the software/apps, which was always Apple's strength but Samsung have now caught ... The thing I think that most surprised me is how polished everything seems with the software/apps, which was always Apple's strength but Samsung have now caught up and even overtaken the competition. Everything is very smooth, the UI is so intuitive to use and despite having so many different apps and functions to choose from everything seems to run quite seamlessly; this also brings out the Ultras other strengths, flexibility: there's so much you can do with this device, it's great for movies and TV and gaming, but also amazing at productivity for work or Uni and multitasking, or being creative - the S pen also opens up a whole range of possibilities for all of these. I find myself using this device more and more instead of my laptop. It's just the best, for convenience, getting stuff done on the move, or watching films at home, taking unbelievably good pictures (people will comment on how good your pictures are, even if like me you're a total amateur), sketching your favourite park on a summers day or reading your favourite book on the commute. It's a genuine joy to use.
