This is my 3rd Samsung watch. My first was a Gear S3, second was a Watch 3 and now a Watch5 Pro. I can honestly say that the watch has gotten better with each iteration. I was initially worried about this purchase as it contained the removal of the front face dial that served as a functional slider essentially, but I now feel that my worry wasn't warranted. I believe if the watch was equal or less responsive than the Watch 3 then the removal of the dial would be an issue, but I am proud to say that the Watch5 Pro is much more responsive, especially when receiving a notification. I used the dial mostly to initiate the viewing of notifications that delayed in displaying. Notifications are much faster to load and the viewing of those notifications are much easier for ... I used the dial mostly to initiate the viewing of notifications that delayed in displaying. Notifications are much faster to load and the viewing of those notifications are much easier for someone with aging eyes (I am far sighted and do wear medium strength reading glasses). I think most of the software benefits has come from the move from Tizen to Wear OS. One thing that stands out to me is the texting capability on the watch itself. It was about impossible on my older Watch 3 but on the Watch5 Pro it has the swipe texting which works very well so it is a huge step forward in this area. The battery is another big improvement although I will say the Samsung line of watches have always had much better battery life than other watches, but with the Watch5 Pro the battery life is not in days a required everyday charge. Obviously if you use the always on display you will have a couple of days life vs not using always on display will allow double that (depending on notifications and workouts also.) The last major upgrade I will mention is the D-Buckle band (this is one of the band options when purchasing.) If you are like me and very particular about the amount of pressure and location of your watch, then this band is the one for you. I think of it like a belt that uses holes to achieve the proper tightness, but one hole is too tight and one hole over is too loose. This band eliminates that issue and is by far the best band I have ever had on a watch. I have been using the Watch5 Pro for a couple of months and I have no buyer's remorse at all.

I'm afraid that the choice to move away from this is a design miss on Samsung's part. The capacitive, digital alternative of running a finger around the periphery of the screen isn't as remotely intuitive, functional, effective, refined or easy to use as you end up touching other elements of the screen in the process.I'm not sure of the logic in removing what was a signature component of this series of watches, one that made usage a breeze and one that galaxy watch owners in this format of watch had come to love. The new method on this watch is not nearly as precise and no use with gloves or wet hands. Sorry Samsung; but a significant design miss. That said, the watch is still a delight to use, as you can just swipe as you would on a phone to get to/from where you need to go.Updating, app choices and integration are better overall than the Tizen watch was, though watch faces are a little sparse at present compared to Tizen.Overall, a fantastic piece of kit and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The black version looks a little "cheap" to my eye for a wearable such as this and at this price point (particularly without the bezel), but that's subjective and others will see it differently.I don't use the running, etc features and so can't comment on those. But nice job Samsung (deletion of bezel excepted)If you are after a classy looking, fully functional smart watch and fitness tracker, aren't an invested member of that fruit named company and need something to help keep track of your ticker, this watch may just be for you.ECG reports are easily exported printed in A4, or even emailed to your doctor straight from your phone in a heart beat.ECG and Blood Pressure does require Samsung Health installed I believe (no issue if you're a Samsung user) and the integration between the watch and phone is impressive, straight forward and completely intuitive.Very happy with my purchase.

Unfortunately, even if you adhere to the guidelines, any water damage is not covered under warranty. I found myself in this situation last month, and the repair cost amounted to approximately $700. This was a significant setback for me.The warranty claim process was far from straightforward, involving numerous interactions between the retail store, tech works, and Samsung. Regrettably, my case officer closed my claim without providing any information about the outcome. After putting in considerable effort, I was informed today that they are willing to reassess the situation, requiring me to go through the same process again. I'm uncertain how this reassessment will be beneficial since I am not disputing the fact that water entered the watch. It is clear to me that the watch does not meet the claimed IP68 rating and is not suitable for its intended purpose. In my opinion, no one should have to endure these frustrating ordeals. It would be better for consumers to avoid purchasing a product that fails to meet its intended purpose. I feel like I have wasted both my money on the watch and the extended coverage.Overall, while Samsung has consistently impressed me with their other products, my experience with the Galaxy watch has been disappointing, primarily due to the poor build quality and the unsatisfactory warranty claim process.
Inside the box, there are: a smartwatch, two-tone sport band (a.k.a. silicone band), quick start guide, and ice hockey puck-shaped charger. It has a titanium case and sapphire crystal glass that makes extra durable. A 1.4-inch Super AMOLED is fantastic, whether in terms of color, brightness, or refresh rate. To my surprise, this smartwatch earned the "MIL-STD-810G" certification. In many ways, Galaxy Watch5 Pro is the same smartwatch as its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 4-series. It automatically detects outdoor activities - hiking, walking, swimming, and running, just to name a few. By the way, this smartwatch only pairs with a Samsung Galaxy phone and the Samsung Health app. For the past 14-days, I have been using it, and guess what? This is just another average android smartwatch.Samsung claims Sapphire Crystal display and Titanium frame make this watch "stylish and elegant," but I beg to differ. I find the black Titanium frame to be reminiscent of other smartwatches on the market. Galaxy Watch5 Pro is not equipped with a loud siren to alert others in the area, in case a wearer gets lost somewhere in the back country and needs help. I do not believe Wear OS 3 is programmed to handle L1 and L5 GPS signals. A 590 mAh battery lasts an average of 55 hours on a 100% charge (every notification turned on, checking e-mails, answering just about every phone call, receiving & replying texts, daily regular exercises – walking and running). As for distance accuracy, it is somewhat close, but not in the same league as other smartwatches with dual-frequency GPS. Do not expect auto "night display mode" for better visibility at night time. Worse, the physical rotating bezel that has been a staple on Samsung Galaxy smartwatches for years is no longer available. A virtual touch bezel around the screen to navigate between menus and options does NOT work well, especially if fingers are wet. No wonder why some Galaxy Watch5 Pro wearers are saying, "…worthless piece of…" you get the idea. Bottom line: This smartwatch is stocky and expensive. Yet, it is not intended for back country adventures or water sports, including recreational scuba diving.Made in Vietnam.
This was an upgrade from my ancient Gear S3 and boy was I disappointed. The way in which this watch pairs with and requires a smartphone to operate properly is utterly obnoxious, inconvenient and really defeats the purpose of having LTE. This is no more obvious than in the maps/navigation feature. When the watch and the phone are paired and able to communicate (i.e. flight mode is off), the maps app on the watch will force you to run the comparable google maps app on the phone. You can't tell it to simply navigate using its own GPS or independently of the phone, unless you turn the phone off or put it to flight mode. This became a serious problem when I needed to navigate somewhere, didn't have my phone, and then, when trying to use the watch maps app, was ... You can't tell it to simply navigate using its own GPS or independently of the phone, unless you turn the phone off or put it to flight mode. This became a serious problem when I needed to navigate somewhere, didn't have my phone, and then, when trying to use the watch maps app, was repeatedly told to check my phone to confirm. I couldn't do this because I had left my phone at home. Fortunately I was able to use my own familiarity with the area to get where I needed to go.This leads to the crux of my complaint. If this is watch is capable of navigating independent of the phone, which it is, and I need it to, then it should be able to. What would have happened if I were lost, in a life-or-death situation for which I needed navigation on my phone, only to be told repeatedly by my watch "please check your phone" and refusing access to the maps app? I'd be dead, that's what.I didn't spend $700 on the model with LTE only for it to be hopelessly slaved to the primary phone. If I have credit, and I've allowed data access, it should just navigate when I tell it to. I shouldn't have to turn the phone off or jump through other hoops to make it work the way I want to. I certainly shouldn't have to call someone who lives at my house and say "Hey can you go into my room and turn my phone off because Samsung has developed a device with pretentious and unusable features meaning I can't find where I'm meant to be driving to."What could otherwise be a lifesaving feature is instead crippled by bloatware and corporate partnerships with Alphabet. Also while we're on the subject; I wore the watch for a week, backed up the Samsung health data and then changed phones. The app stated "backed up successfully" but the data was nowhere to be seen on the new phone. Spotify is rubbish as well, not being able to play on the watches speaker, throws errors when I try to download music for offline listening and doesn't even present my headphone as a playback option despite just pairing with them in that very app. There are probably other faults of a similar nature but I completely lost interest in using other apps after these issues cropped up. I give this watch two stars because generally it works and is useable for its fundamental purpose of calls and texts but these design decisions are terrible. Just make a watch that does its job.
I hadn’t owned any smart watch until I got the opportunity to put my hands on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro LTE. Not a believer of smart watches, this device has changed my mind, and now I find myself recommending it to friends and family (or whoever seeks advice.) I have been using it connected to my phone, a Microsoft Surface Duo 2, and I can say the Samsung Watch 5 Pro has been a perfect companion. Besides being aware of the date and time, I can make and receive calls with ease, read text messages effortlessly, check my heart rate, plan workouts, as well as receive notifications and encouragements to move and keep moving, and much more. This watch is very easy to operate and customize to your needs and preferences using its touch enabled interface.I have been wearing it almost every day, I only take it off it when going to the shower, or when doing some extra dirt work in the garden or when charging it. Hold a minute, yes! it is water resistant, and you can even swim with it, but I prefer to not wear it while in the shower. I also didn’t wear it a couple of times at night during the first days of use, I felt the rubber band getting too hot and too much sweat around my wrist that I had to take the watch off (while exercising it would get even wetter.) This is my first rubber band watch, so it took me a few days to feel comfortable wearing it, and now I don’t have complaints exercising with it.This device comes with LTE and depending on which carrier you’ve got, you can get a new number on it or have it as a duplicate of your cell phone. I haven’t set the LTE up yet, since I’ve been looking to change carriers. I think this to be one of the most useful features especially when going hiking or long walks as its battery I think would last longer than my cell phone.- Pros: Stylish, solid build, lots of features, great for outdoors, easy to customize.- Cons: none so far.>> SetupAlthough it came with some charge, I decided to fully charge the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro before setting it up. I installed the Galaxy Wear App on my phone, turned on the Galaxy watch, and on a first try, the phone couldn’t find the watch (or vice versa). I run the Wear App setup again and rescanned the device a second time, and voila, Galaxy Watch was configured without much fanfare. While setting it up, I chose the defaults and didn’t log into my Google account or created a Samsung account, I just wanted to have a basic out of the box experience. After connecting to the phone and placing the Galaxy Watch on my wrist, I was pleased that, besides being able to access the time and date, I had my email (Hotmail) account available and I was able to make/receive calls as well as text messaging from the get-go. The latter tied to the different apps that came by default which cover from weather/location to health, made my initial experience a very satisfying one. After a couple of days of use, I received the notification to update the device. Updating the Software/system was easy and fast. I kept the watch connected to the charger and the Wear OS update started and completed within a few minutes (around 5 min.)>> AppsThe set of Apps that come by default, in my opinion, are basically all you’d need to get started. The default apps and their features seemed to have been well thought, so a big “plus” to Samsung for doing such a great job. Now, of course, you’d need a Samsung account to use some of the Apps and a Google account to access Google Play (I don’t plan on doing this yet.)To give an idea on the applications here are a few:- Calculator App: yes, it is minimalistic, besides a basic calculator, has a tip calculator and a unit converter options, which in my opinion are sufficient while on the go. You probably won’t need to compute integrals while walking outdoors, but some unit conversions come very handy, don’t they?- Email App: it is only text based, and well given the real state of the screen, it is hard to imagine reading some HTML text with video and images. This app serves my purpose in general though, as the emails I am more interested in usually come just as text.- Messenger: receiving a new text message notification and being able to read it right away without reaching my phone is one of the most useful features in this device.- Location: this shows where you are on the map and also a few landmarks you set, and if you’d need extra features, the watch will forward you to your phone.- Compass: very useful when going through a thick forest out here in the Pacific Northwest.>> HealthI see this device not only as a health monitor but as a coach (without the human coaching nuisances.) I like the encouragement I receive when I am getting active, and I also like the remainder to become active if I’ve been sitting for a long period of time (everybody needs a coach to move, right?) I realized that I don’t mind the watch telling me to move, which sometimes contrasts when I have a real person telling me to do some exercise (which I hate.) Perhaps it is an antisocial behavior, but well, you cannot talk back to your phone. This watch has a wide range of apps and sensors to help you monitor and promote your health, and also realize some hidden facts about your health. For example, I didn’t know how low my heart rate would go while sleeping, which was very interesting to find, and would explain why I need to put extra sheets while sleeping. The Samsung Health and activity tracker gives you a good summary of how you are performing, details on you heart rate, oxygen level etc. If interested in more details about your heart, the ECG app is there for you (you’d need to install the Samsung Health Monitor app on your phone.)In summary, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is your healthy companion.>> BatteryUnder regular use, in my case it is checking email from time to time, texting, checking heart rate, verifying the weather, and under the default configuration such as screen not always on and others, the Samsung Watch 5 Pro battery lasts for about 4 days. It warns you when the battery is low and suggests changing the device to “Watch only” mode. If it is only in Watch mode, the battery lasts way more, I haven’t tried but setting it to Watch only mode would allow the device to last for several days. When the battery is completed depleted, charging from 0% to 100% takes about one and half (1 1/2) hours. I wish the watch would turn on automatically after reaching 100%, since I think you’d be tempted to wear it thinking it is ready without realizing it is off (or realizing it is after it doesn’t respond). Well, if you prefer not wearing your watch at night while sleeping, then that’d be a good time to charge it.
Having had used the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro for just under a week, it is safe to say that I am extremely pleased with the results.Whilst unboxing the watch, I immediately loved the clean, polished and simple yet elegant look of the watch. On my relatively average sized wrist the 44mm watch face looks rather large, however, I am a fan of the real watch look it gives. The watch was relatively easy to set up to my phone, which isn't a Samsung. I had to download a Galaxy watch plugin as well as the Galaxy Wearable app, to ensure compatibility with my phone. After that the watch went through all the options to set it up. I only came across one problem when setting up and personalising my watch, this was with Samsung Pay not the watch itself. Samsung Pay doesn’t ... I only came across one problem when setting up and personalising my watch, this was with Samsung Pay not the watch itself. Samsung Pay doesn’t except some Bank cards (like Metro bank) so I thought I wasn’t going to be able pay from my watch. However, after some playing about I realised you could download app directly onto the watch, therefore I downloaded Google pay and set up my payment. Also, unfortunately due to not having a Samsung phone, I am unable to download the Samsung Health Monitor which means I cannot use the Blood pressure and ECG feature on the watch. The watch was perfect to take to the gym, as it has a plethora of work-out options to fit with the form of exercise that you choose. The watch tracked the precise measurements of treadmill including the speed and the calories expended. Whilst using the weights the watch track my heart rate to convert into calories expenditure. The watch also has a sleep tracker function, which tracks the length of sleep and splits the sleep into stages: Awake, REM, Light and Deep. It also records any snoring/ noise and tracks blood oxygen during sleep. These are quite interesting to explore and find out how to improve sleep.Through-out the day, I only charge the watch for 30/45mins maximum and the battery will last through the night and next day. If I am not too active with recording/tracking exercise the watch will only lose 30% charge over 24 hours and when active it will lose 50%. The fast charging and long battery life are so impressive and extremely helpful for someone who is always on the move.
Fantastic watch in every regard, Titanium build is far more lightweight than the previous iterations of the higher end galaxy watches, and still retains durability, user interface is more intuitive than ever and the apps are fare more easily accessible. The watch band with it is finicky at first to adjust to the right size, but once you find the sweet spot, it becomes very easy to put on, while remaining secure and comfortable. The watch retains a very premium product feel, having used the original Galaxy Watch for roughly 4 years now, and having retained the incredible battery life throughout that period, I was pleasantly surprised with a further improved battery life with the Watch5 Pro, from my previous watch, the new integrations for the watch map tracking, as ... The Watch5 Pro can take continuous measurements of Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen, etc. And does it while still maintaining incredible battery life. This is a great watch for very active smart watch users who need something durable, reliable, and can afford the higher price tag, the main reason I docked it from 5 stars to 4 stars is the attempting use of the digital touch bezel controls, and the relegation of the physical rotating mechanical bezel that was seen on the previous Galaxy Watches, such as the Watch 4 Classic. The digital bezel works, but not well enough to rationalize the change, it has a slight delay, making it less intuitive on the fly. I am an endurance cyclist, and that slight misstep delay on the digital bezel can be a deal breaker when I'm actively riding and every second that my hands aren't on handlebars can be crucial to safety. Having used the physical bezel for a cross country trip, it makes a big difference for users like myself. Who tend to be the target audience for this high end watch. The watch charger is very fast, snappy, and magnetizes well, the only issue I had was that the watch band made putting it on the charger a nuisance since the watch band has to stay in a loop shape to maintain the right fit. However the charging puck is magnetized on both sides, allowing it to stick to both the watch and the surface below it. I wound up returning it strictly with the possibility of the upcoming Watch6 Pro/Classic, (supposedly coming out next month) having a physical bezel once again.
My old Samsung Galaxy Wearable was the Galaxy Watch 3, which I was a big fan of but I wanted to upgrade and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was something that greatly appealed to me with it's improvements in both the hardware and software departments. The first striking thing about this Smart Watch is it's aesthetic design. The Titanium build is instantly noticeable and compared to the Aluminium chassis of my previous model, I really can notice a difference. In addition to the solid Titanium body, having a sapphire screen adds even more safety in regards to durability of this wearable. Another big upgrade from the Gorilla Glass on my previous model.I have to say how impressed I am with the included D Buckle strap. The magnet works fantastically well, very easy to adjust, ... Another big upgrade from the Gorilla Glass on my previous model.I have to say how impressed I am with the included D Buckle strap. The magnet works fantastically well, very easy to adjust, and never comes undone, even during vigorous hiit workouts or playing sports. The quality of the strap is great and both looks smart while being extremely comfortable for activity, and the colour really matches the Grey Titanium body of the watch. The new Google Wear Operating System is something I was eager to try, having always been used to Samsung's own Tizen OS which had been ever present on my previous wearables. But I am delighted with the software on this watch. Having access to Google Pay, You Tube music and Google Maps has taken the functionality of this watch, for me, to a whole different level, to what was previously possible for me with previous Samsung devices. The user interface is much more friendly, as well as looking a lot better on the eye. The widgets are great and the pre-installed selection of watch faces and integrated personalisation of those is fantastic. With the ability to download hundreds more, there really is something for whatever I fancy and mood I am in.The improved health tracking was a big selling point for me. Body Composition to easily keep tabs on my body fat and mass is great and allows a much more regular and up to date progress report of how I'm getting on. The sleep tracking improvements are also noticeable and the battery life has impressed me aswell. Easily getting 2 full days and nights before needing a charge. But even when charging has been required, it reaches 100% in no time at all.All in all, absolutely thrilled I have upgraded and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting one.
