The 44 is the perfect size for being able to use the functionality of the watch screen, the bezel has a nice satisfying click as you rotate it as well as the buttons. I can easily make a call with it if my phone is in another room and I need my hands free, I can control music on BT speakers with it, trigger the camera for hands free photos and selfies and there are even apps for its use in the film industry, of which I am a small part of. My only suggestions for the 5 and future models are: 1) Dramatically increase the IP value of the watch as part of my regiment of keeping it clean is to wash it when it gets dirty under the sink. My Gear S3 died because sweat got into it, despite my care. 2) I think the gyro needs more sensitivity and would be nice if simply turning the wrist at some speed activated the screen versus having to bring the whole arm down and then back up.

And honestly this watch is still more or less a glorified notification device and is basically worthless if you're a Verizon customer and use Verizon proprietary apps because you cannot download them on your watch. For example, if you use the Verizon Messages App and go to start a new message from your watch it requires you to set a different message app as default in order to start a message. What's the point? Why would Verizon sell something that is incompatible with it's native proprietary apps? Also, the standalone feature is garbage, if you do try to respond to a message and you aren't near your watch, it either will not be able to send the message or it will say, cannot send from phone, use watch number instead? What's the point??? Additionally, I can't tell you how many times I've answered a call on my watch as I'm headed back to my phone only to get back to my phone and find out I can't transfer the call to my phone (S22 Ultra). The workout/fitness stuff seems ok I guess but if you want to separately measure your heartbeat you better not move a muscle or it will give you a sensor error, however if you have activated a workout on the watch, somehow it shows as being able to read your heartbeat the whole time no matter how much you are moving, how does this make any sense at all? The individual heartbeat app makes you hold still but the heartbeat monitor built into the workout isn't the same? So if you haven't activated a workout and you are doing cardio for example, how the heck can you get a reading without stopping and holding absolutely still? I absolutely love my Galaxy S22 Ultra, I've been a Samsung Galaxy Phone user since the Note 3 but Samsung's Watches seem to be Garbage, and moreso on on Verizon. My wife has an Apple watch and iPhone 13 (both on Verizon as well) and I am SUPER impressed at how well the Apple Watch works and what it can do (I would get one if it were possible to use it with my phone). She never has problems and can literally leave her phone at home and have basically the same functionality on her watch from miles away and it uses her phone number (not a watch number). Samsung is INFINITELY far behind on the watch side and needs to step it up BIG TIME and so is Verizon on their Proprietary apps.

I was never a fan of smart watches before. I was a tradionalist. I liked the look of traditional watches. It was more than a timepiece-- it was something that also talked about who you were -- a fasion statement. I never decided to to walk because of how many steps I had, etc. I had an early fit bit, but stopped using it after a couple months. Fast forward a decade and WOW. I don't have to take my phone out to pay or to answer phone calls. I can still read texts even if I don't have my phone on me. It was more than a timepiece-- it was something that also talked about who you were -- a fasion statement. I never decided to to walk because of how many steps I had, etc. I had an early fit bit, but stopped using it after a couple months. Fast forward a decade and WOW. I don't have to take my phone out to pay or to answer phone calls. I can still read texts even if I don't have my phone on me. I can easily find my phone if I forgot where I put (not as much of a problem for me, but a game changer for my wife). The classic has the feel of a traditional watch with the benefits of modern tech. The health tracking is a bonus. The BMI measurement and activity tracking and the integration with daily calorie use are far more useful than "steps" alone. I even don't mind the battery that only lasts a couple days -- I charge it when I am getting ready in the morning and it goes from usually about 35% to 75% which is all I use during the day (for those who are concerned about lithium battery longevity, 25% to75% is the best operating range anyway) even with stress and Sleep monitoring/oximetry active.I only wish the interbeat heart rate variability data was available separately and not just integrated to the stress reading. That measurement was one of best at measuring cardiac heath risk and is now only becoming practical with wearables (although I do worry with all wearables that the surrogate measurements may not always be accurate in some people whether HRV or sleep)
The watch itself is great. It's fast and has many apps. The health tracking works very well, as do the sensors and routines. The watch detects when I fall asleep and with SmartThings and my Galaxy S22 my devices shut off automatically, they also turn on a few minutes after I wake up. Controlling media on my S22 is automatic and always works on the watch.The reasons why I am only giving the watch 3 stars is because of Battery Life and Number Share.I get a day and a half of battery life vs. 2 and a half to 3 days with my original Galaxy Watch. I understand that the sensors require more battery power, but I limit almost everything on the watch in the daytime and my battery still loses roughly 3% an hour.Number Share is abysmal.
