A refreshing smartphone experience!

Finally decided to go ahead with a foldable although not without being nervous. Just wanted a refreshing view on the whole smartphone concept.Been having it for a little over 3 weeks now and the experience so far is super unique and new! The cover screen form factor was something I was not sure about, but after over 2 weeks, I now love it. It is super easy to use 1 handed for calls, some quick texts, quick browsing etc. I am coming from the S21 Ultra... I always wanted the bigger screen for those times when I needed it (youtube, emails, etc) but most of the time I hated the size of the Ultra, tall wide and hard to pocket. The fold outside screen is a breath of fresh air for 70% of activities during the day, and then when you do need the bigger screen for media or ... MoreFinally decided to go ahead with a foldable although not without being nervous. The fold outside screen is a breath of fresh air for 70% of activities during the day, and then when you do need the bigger screen for media or multi task, you have that as well. The main camera produces some great photos with the expert raw app and can not tell a diffrence from the 108mp sensor on the s21 ultra. The one lacking feature camera wise is the super zoom. But been there done that... had fun with the zoom the first month and after that rarely used it. Not gonna be held hostage by fomo on a feature that I used 5 times a year. Will add a few photos I took using the expert raw app.Build quality wise it is without a doubt the most premium feeling device I have ever had, no squeaks, no rattles, no wiggling, it is built to precision. Got the samsung exclusive blue color with the black rims and the finish on it feels really good.Software wise, it is ONE UI for the cover screen, but the main screen borrows some things like the taskbar from tablet UI. The main screen software experience is really good, as all apps I have use scale really well and are optimised for the inner screen format, no wierd black bars. Multitasking 2 apps like calculator and notes is amazing.Battery so far has been great even tho there as been heavy use on it (honeymoon period + novelty). It is better than my 2.5 year old S21 ultra and can usually get around 6 hours of screen on time. The only downsides I would say is that I am glued to my phone a lot more than before (novelty aspect I guess), it has replaced my Ipad pro for a lot of the activities I used to do it. And there is also the fragile aspect that is in the back of the mind, the fold 4 in particular has had a lot of troublesome stories online regarding the inner screen and hinge. Hopefully the 5 redesigned hinge fixed most of those, if not will probably trade it in when care+ is close to ending. We will see how it goes forward, but for now colour me impressed. Got mine from Samsung 512gb exclusive blue with 1 year of care + for around 1500 eur and for that price I consider it a great buy. At the end of the day it is a rather expensive toy, but man is it fun to use.

Even when wanting to watch something during a work lunch so you don't have to prop it up against something or worry about it falling! The back camera quality is AMAZINGGGGG and feels like I'm recording with a separate professional film/photography camera rather than just a phone. However, the back camera could use TONS of improvements to quality, feel, color grading, and grainess. I also wish a 20x zoom option was available like on Galaxies instead of only 10x like on the old S10e. It's a downer in the filming experience and doesn't make videos high quality from a distance either which us dissapointing. So far I have no other complaints. I randomly got a message that my phone had no SIM but it went away quickly so that's another thing.

Watching movies on the device is enjoyable, thanks to its excellent screen quality. However, there are still areas where improvements could be made. A lighter weight without compromising specifications would make it a must-buy device for me. The fingerprint sensor could be more sensitive, and enhancing this technology would be fantastic. While the screen quality is superb, the touch screen occasionally lacks responsiveness during multi-touch interactions. Additionally, I'm interested in applying a privacy screen protector to the large screen but unsure if this option is available.

Great phone

Coming from the fold 3 and fold 4, the fold 6 is definitely worth jumping into. The boxiness and light weight of the fold 6 helped made the decision for me to get the phone. It just feels so much better than the predecessors. If samsung started off with fold 6 as the first fold phone, no competitors would had come close to them. However, it is not a perfect phone and does not have all the goodies a flag ship phone should have. I'm disappointed that samsung did not go with a titanium frame for the fold 6 like they had for the s24 ultra. This would had been justified for the price increase. In addition, having the same cameras setup as the s24 ultra would also help justified the price increase. The colors this year was also not as great as I hoped for. The black looks nice with it texture like appearance but the rest of the color did not stand out too much. I got the pink just because it was different than what I usually go for. I definitely would like colors like deep yellow or fire red or sunburst orange. These bright color options would have made the phone standout even more.Screen wise, nothing much had changed but the outer screen, even an increase of .1mm helped made the screen feels more bigger than the fold 4.Overall, the 100 dollars increase in the phone was not warranted at based on what kind of updates were given to the phone. Samsung at this point should relax on their marketing strategies and focus more on developing the fold or any other phones they have in their lineup. Samsung is a house hold name now and more money should be put in r&d to develop a fold phone with a 1500 dollars price would be perfect. If they ever releases an ultra version, 1800 to 1900 would be the sweet spot for those phone.

When I upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 to the Fold6, I wasn't expecting a significant difference. I had grown accustomed to the Fold4's innovative design, but I wasn’t sure how much of an upgrade the Fold6 would feel. Turns out, the improvements are noticeable in all the right ways, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how much Samsung has refined the experience.First off, the squared-off edges are a game changer. The Fold6 feels much more comfortable in the hand because of this subtle redesign. It adds a sense of sturdiness, making it easier to grip, especially when using it one-handed in its folded form. The Fold6 feels much more comfortable in the hand because of this subtle redesign. It adds a sense of sturdiness, making it easier to grip, especially when using it one-handed in its folded form. The premium feel is enhanced by this design tweak, giving it a sleeker, more modern appearance compared to the more rounded Fold4.One of the most impressive aspects is how the Fold6 closes completely flush. With the Fold4, there was always that slight gap when folded, which, while not a dealbreaker, did make the device feel less seamless. The Fold6 completely remedies that, and the gapless close adds to the sense of quality, making the phone feel more like a unified piece of hardware.Another area where the Fold6 excels is in its thinness. Samsung has shaved off just enough millimeters to make a tangible difference, without sacrificing durability or screen quality. It’s noticeably slimmer when folded, which makes it much more pocketable and comfortable to carry around, even in tighter clothing. The thinner design also enhances the overall usability in both folded and unfolded modes, making it more practical for everyday use.The hinge mechanism also feels smoother, and there's a greater sense of durability. It clicks into place with a more satisfying and secure feel than the Fold4, and the fold itself feels less rigid. Even after extensive use, the Fold6 hinge shows no signs of wear, which was always a slight concern with foldable devices. The displays themselves are another small jump forward. The inner screen is as vibrant and fluid as ever, but I noticed improved brightness, especially in outdoor settings. The refresh rate seems smoother too, offering a more responsive experience, whether I’m gaming or just scrolling through apps. The outer screen, which on the Fold4 always felt a little cramped, feels more spacious and usable, thanks to the thinner bezels.Battery life is also worth noting. I wasn’t sure if the thinner design would mean a compromise on battery life, but the Fold6 has held up remarkably well. Even with heavy usage, switching between the inner and outer screens, and multitasking, I’ve been able to comfortably get through a full day without needing to recharge.Overall, upgrading from the Fold4 to the Fold6 has been a surprisingly big leap. From the squared-off edges to the flush close, the thinner profile, and the improved usability of the displays, Samsung has fine-tuned every aspect of this phone. It’s not just a slight refresh; it feels like a genuinely evolved version of the foldable experience, and I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade.

As an IT professional in charge of multiple properties It's essential for me to have a device that can access all the websites and tools I need any given day, many of which don't have dedicated applications or even mobile interfaces available. With the Galaxy Fold that's not an issue because I simply unfold the device and view the desktop version of the application and continue about my work day!On the flip side when the applications are used do support mobile modes or have dedicated apps I take advantage of the split screen functionality and have two apps open at once that I can easily share data between rather than constantly tabbing back and forth between them. When it's fully closed it is barely thicker than a standard Galaxy s24 and the new screen ratio is much more in line with a standard device versus the narrower front screens that were found on its predecessors. Overall I love all the new tweaks they made to this line to make it more familiar and more usable at the same time.Outside of work tasks I've been enjoying the new cameras and Galaxy AI features! The camera is a improvement over the Galaxy Fold 4 and the ability to quickly manipulate images with AI is phenomenal!

Love the Flip5, BUT Unstable Quality Control

This was the first time I came into contact with a flip phone. Never had one before thus I was quite excited to try it out hoping it would be good enough to keep albeit the already bad reviews. First off, I love the concept very much and I actually had fun with it for the one week I was using it. It was nice, compact, when I go on walks, it was light enough I can hook it to my lanyard to put it around my neck/hand or I can tuck it in my pants pocket, and it will never fall out even when I run. I enjoy the outer screens as well with the convenience of checking weathers, calendar, timer, playing music, etc. although I had to download 3rd party app GoodLock to unlock more ways to use the small screen. As I use the phone, I forget that its there or sometimes I run my finger over it feeling amaze at the tech itself, thus it was not a big deal to me.Drawbacks are that if you want to play the other real games or grant permissions/verifications to certain websites/apps/programs, it requires you flip to the inner big screen just to hit yes. Also, when you answer a call in cover screen, it will only allow you to be in speaker mode. I think it would be nice if they give you an option to set where even when you watch a video/using apps/calls and close the inner screen, the video/apps/calls will continue to play/move to the cover screen. Though overall, its a fairly creative phone. Now the real dealbreaker for me is the quality of this phone. I made two purchases for the Flip5 phones to get the promotional discounts and both phones has small defects on them. The first phone, (just to clarify, I never drop nor mishandle the phone as I only either go on walks or stay indoors majority of time), after one week of used, the black trim that surround the inner screen easily pop out on one side as I flip it open. The second phone that I received has a loose hinge issue. While the first phone did not have any problem with the hinge, so I compare both phones. The second phone cannot stay open or hold in place at specific angles or flex modes but the first phone can because of the tighter hinge. Both phones have small defects coming out of the box, so it makes me question the quality of these phones for long term usage and I rather not waste more time going through repair processes later. Even with the discounts along with my trade-in, I rather spend $800-$900 on a more solid phone. I really want to love this phone because of all of its convenience features, but its very important that a phone has reliability and durability, thus I returned both Flip5 Phones. I will not recommend this phones to others. If you want to get this phone, do so at your own risk. Who knows, you may be one of the lucky few with damage-free flip5.I have no doubt Samsung will improve the Z Flip in the future, but for now, I think its still too soon for me to own a Flip phone with this quality.

Never going back to non-foldables
18 March 2024

I was a bit skeptical of the folding phones, especially after hearing horror stories that screens would break after only a few weeks of use. But after seeing a family member with a foldable phone, I realized that many of those busted phones were most likely due to people not handling their devices with care or even doing the bare minimum of buying a proper case.I ordered this phone, immediately got a case with a hinge protector, and have had zero issues in the two months that ive had it.I love the dimensions of this phone when folded. The width of the main screen paired with the depth of the phone makes it feel extremely secure in my hands. For sure, the main screen can be small at times. Ive found myself making typos on my keyboard many times, but I've improved ... MoreI was a bit skeptical of the folding phones, especially after hearing horror stories that screens would break after only a few weeks of use. The width of the main screen paired with the depth of the phone makes it feel extremely secure in my hands. For sure, the main screen can be small at times. Ive found myself making typos on my keyboard many times, but I've improved a lot and if i really wanted to, i could simply make my keyboard UI larger. The phone, when opened, is glorious. You really dont know what you've been missing out on in regards to screen space until you try a foldable phone. And the seam in the middle is barely noticeable when youre looking at it. Honestly ill forget that it even exists until i have to run my finger over it for whatever I'm touching on the screen.Ive used the larger (unfolded) screen to watch things while traveling, and just recently started to use game emulators paired with an XBox Controller via bluetooth to play games, which is awesome. Before due to phone screen space I wouldn't be able to play more than typical mobile games but with this phone im able to play pretty much anything. Making this phone effectively my entertainment center and communication device all in one.Overall, im very pleased with the decision. I dont think i could ever go back to non-folding phones. That being said, i did snag this while it was $1499, which i think is a much more reasonable price point.

Smart, reliable, efficient, and bold!

My initial foldable device was the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which I acquired upon its release in September 2022. Regrettably, after approximately a year of usage, the device experienced a malfunction due to air accumulating within the gap of the primary display. Consequently, I obtained a discounted replacement, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, from T-Mobile in September of the subsequent year. Similar to my previous device, the Fold 5 has proven to be exceptional in terms of performance and durability. Despite accidental drops onto concrete surfaces, it has remained unscathed. The device exhibits reliability, swift performance, exceptional brightness, and an array of practical and enjoyable features while holding its' charge for a sufficient amount of time. However, ... MoreMy initial foldable device was the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which I acquired upon its release in September 2022. Under bright lighting conditions, the main screen displays noticeable indentations. Additionally, the device tends to generate significant heat during multitasking or when deactivating power-saving mode. I attribute this to the numerous third-party and first-party applications running concurrently in the background. Nonetheless, the device effectively manages to cool down to a more comfortable temperature, demonstrating its intelligent design.By the way, I let the built-in Galaxy AI feature rewrite my review in a 'professional' writing style!

The Rolls Royce of all cell phones!

I finally found "the one"! In addition to the versatility, style and performance of the Z Flip series and without the too-large-for-me size of the S24 Ultra, the Z Fold5 has excellent cameras on-board --beating the S24 Ultra-- and paired with the dedicated, slim version of the S-Pen which I also purchased, allows for infinite possibilities and customisation of the "notebook" interface. When folded, I found I can do everything from the front screen, apart from writing on it. The S-Pen is not supported yet on the front, but I hope this will change in the future. Any capacitive stylus can be used instead, though. Unfold it and you instantly have a notebook, a mini tablet, a gaming console, a reader... you name it. Any capacitive stylus can be used instead, though. Unfold it and you instantly have a notebook, a mini tablet, a gaming console, a reader... you name it. The hinge works fine, the crease in the middle not noticeable while using the phone. It also comes with a dual SIM housing, in addition to multiple e-sims, another feature important to me. An intelligent battery consumption learning function keeps it at optimum levels at all times and then there is the incredible AI to blow your mind... Although Samsung kindly sent me a free case, I opted for one of my choice from Amazon that houses the S-Pen on the back, while protecting the front screen too. . the It is beyond comprehension why some users complain about scratches and even cracks. The internal screen is fully covered with a factory screen protector and any decent case will do its job for the rest, provided it is not used as a football (!) Obviously, one needs to be mindful of any hard objects that can come in contact with the shiny metal hinge to avoid scratches. Samsung Recycling Service was instrumental in buying my other mobile phones, once my heart was set on the Fold5, at very competitive prices since the condition was "excellent", thanks to the devices' endurance and the care taken. If you want "The Full Monty" this beauty is worth every penny!
