I had still been using traditional hard drives before now and had no idea what I was missing. A few months ago I built a new system based around an Intel 4790k CPU(with liquid cooling), 16GB 1866MHz memory, 2x GTX970 in SLI, and a plain old hard drive, a Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black that I had already owned a few years. It'll feel like a new computer and like myself, you'll probably end up wondering why you didn't do so long ago.

After a bit of searching for a new SSD for my mid 2012 13" MacBook Air, I stumbled across an article suggesting that this drive could be used with an M2.NGFF SSD 18+8 pin SSD adaptor for considerably less than buying a 'Mac' SSD upgrade kit. Fitting is not difficult and takes about 15/20 minutes but you do need both a pentalobe and torx screwdriver bits.The most time consuming aspect is restarting and reconfiguring the new drive with your data. II'd recommend backing up via timemachine and downloading the latest iOS to a USB stick BEFORE you start taking the old drive out. This will save you considerable time!If you don't you can use the Apple Internet recover setup with an ethernet cable. I cloned over the old card to the new one, and the performance increase was noticeable (the laptop already has 16GB of memory). Would I recommend this? Yes. :) Is it still available? No. :( It lasted a fantastically long time(4 1/2 years) as a main drive on a Gigabyte G1 gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151. (The computer still runs, but with a HDD until a replacement is acquired). Will I buy from Samsung again? Probably, This has been a good, long lasting drive. It finally started not wanting to start the Win 7 (got hung up on the splash screen and would not go any farther). Going to keep it in an external enclosure until it totally fails as temporary storage for non sensitive files.

I have upgraded every laptop and desktop over the years to SSD performance. Once you have it, it's hard to do with out. This laptop came with an open M2 socket so it was a no-brainer to install this to manage my OS and program installs for fast access. Easy to do, look it up online. Check on the laptop warranty for system upgrades. Some warranties are void but shouldn't be as this is a common practice today especially if the device has been designed for upgrade. Startup now is in seconds instead of minutes and access is super fast. After enabling both the MSI rapid boot feature and Samsung rapid mode, this particular conglomeration of parts is able to present me with a Windows 10 desktop within fewer than 7 seconds of pressing the power button. This seems outrageous, but time after time it never ceases to impress friends and loved ones. I might also mention that due to the advancements in technology that allow m.2 to be possible, there is nary a data cable in sight. In addition, the modular power supply has only a 24 pin, 8-pin atx, and 6-pin graphics power attached.
