This is only as good as old fashioned keys except keys don't need batteries!

Beutifully ugly and not user friendly.

The latch is ugly and the mounting method is weak, attaching with only 2 fully supported screws and 2 screws through slots into one face. The old latch took 5 screws at 90 degrees to each other on the frame so quite strong. The app is also not very good and seperate from samsungs smart things app which i use and love with many other appliances. The auto unlock works well on my partners iphone but poorly on my samsung phone.

Excellent value and ease of use!

The Samsung DS705MK smartlock is an easy entry into the world of smartlocks. Provides basic useful features whilst not making you feel overwhelmed like some smart devices can. The user interface is easy to learn, making setting up and programming the lock a breeze. The automatic locking and the ability to gain access to your home, even if you forgot your keys is incredibly useful. The ability to track who has accessed your home via logs is also a very welcomed feature of this product. I would highly recommend this device for anyone who wants to replace their conventional mechanical deadbolt locks in their home.

Great features, instructions are difficult if you have inward swinging door.
5 February 2023

I bought and install about a year ago.The installation took me a week with several calls to the company for help and they didn’t know how to help me with the installation. One key part of the instruction is not outlined on the instructions which would have saved me a week and I would have had it installed in a few hours. I put that lock in every way possible.I butchered the door frame and it was a complete disaster to put in.Once it was determined that my door was an inward swinging door the 5th call to them by day 7 finally helped. The instructions are for outward swinging doors. Just remove the bracket attached to the frame plate. The whole thing is made with plastic so I don’t know how strong or safe it is. Great technology
19 December 2021

I bought this lock three weeks ago and mounted it in my doors, replacing the old standard lock. Great design, as I did not need to make any changes and the lock was fitting perfectly. Setup was easy, and bluetooth functionality works very well on my iphone (so easy to open the door from the phone, and the app discovers the lock instantly). Several individual settings are also available from the lock setup, making the product very flexible and enhancing security of my apartment (including detection of people standing in front of the doors for prolonged time). Great product - well done Samsung!

Makes life simple!

This lock has been a wonderful addition to help make life easier. We have been looking for something that wasn’t too bulky like some of the other smart options available, yet still contained a lot of the features. It’s sleek design and colour scheme blended in nicely with our front door and ticked all of the boxes nicely. With this smart lock installed, we can now leave the house securely without having to take a bunch of keys with us just to take the dogs for a walk. Whilst the conventional method of unlocking with a code is available, the ability to also unlock with key tags, access cards and even mobile phones via Bluetooth is bliss. This has made entering the home so much easier as all we need to do is wave a tag or tap our phones to unlock the door. ... MoreThis lock has been a wonderful addition to help make life easier. Embarrassingly, it also works both ways and I now don’t need to get up off the lounge to open the door for family and friends when they arrive. Simply use the phone app to unlock when necessary! This lock is a wonderful first step to a keyless environment and for the price, it definitely can’t be beat! Setup was easy and done within a few minutes. Sleek, simple and convenient. Very happy and definitely recommend!

Overall a great product.
6 January 2022

I did have some issues connecting my phone to the lock, but as others have said by contacting Samsung they were able to sort it out for me. I do wonder with the many negative app reviews on the app store, if many of them actually contacted support. The only real critisim I would have is the length of the screws for connecting to the door frame. I had to use so many of the backingplates that the screws barely went into the frame, but was easily fixed by getting some longer screws.Overall though a great product for the price.Samsung if you are listening - Longer Screws :)

Samsung DS705 lock
25 June 2021

I did lots of research and decided on this lock for its price, functionality and Bluetooth features. I had many questions before buying it but the support from Digital Door Lock were priceless! They answered my questions and I hope this can help others too: 1. Lock can be used on either left or right side. Just flip the lock and reattach the cover. 2. It doesn't have WiFi so Android/Apple phones can't use the Samsung app to lock/unlock with their phone. However, they can use another app called Shome that does the same thing. 3. Lots of videos, troubleshooting hints and installation guides on YouTube. Plus the added support from DDL makes this purchase an easy one.

Very quick and easy to install.
8 December 2022

Purchased this a couple of days ago. The Samsung smart lock was very easy to install and set up. The interface is aesthetically appealing and the phone app is easy to use. I would like to see an added feature to use additional user codes in the future that would make this model even more appealing. Overall I think it’s a very robust and reasonably priced.

great overall lock
13 June 2022

I bought this about 1 year ago; and it's been great. Easy to install (once I bought a hole drill bit). Has good customised settings; like not instantly locking - so you can run back inside 5 seconds later to grab something you forgot.Bluetooth = essentially useless in my opinion. By the time you get your phone out, and open the weird Samsung App thing (iOS), then get close to the door/lock... You could've just keyed in the PIN, (or used the supplied Tag dongle). I used bluetooth twice / took longer, and now we all just use the PIN.Battery life is mixed... it's pretty good, but choice of battery brands has a BIG influence.
