I have about 9TB of video loaded onto this thing for use with Final Cut Pro, and no glitches so far. These big G-Tech drives take a few moments to load after going idle for a while. But that's expected.

The 6TB G-Drive Pro replaced aging external drives. The migration of nearly 40,000 photos went flawlessly. Thanks

I'm on my third replacement, and these G Drives will not say mounted to my Mac Pro, 2013, Big Sur. I've had several Thunderbolt 2 versions of this drive, and have never had issue, but the Thunderbolt 3 versions do not seem compatible with my computer.

I will never trust this manufacturer again. I am in the process of recovering my data. After I do that, I will be on the phone with G-Tech insisting on A) my money back, B) another copy of my data on a new drive for storage and C) the money it is costing me to recover my data. This is in no way reflective of B&H, which I love.
Seems to work great as a drive so far and for Thunderbolt daisy chaining. However all drive sounds come thru my speakers. I assume my speaker cable isn't shielded or something? Other Thunderbolt drives I have don't do this. Only this one. Maybe it's the cable it came with.
This a bit replace a LaCie drive that died 4 months after its warranty expired. It is easy to format and very fast. It does make a bit more noise than the LaCie so I have had to put more rubber under it to quiet it. The 5 year warranty was a big factor in using it as a replacement.
I got this drive so that I can keep my files off the iMac. I previously used the basic portable hard drives but those oftentimes lag or load files slower. It keeps up with the workflow and it has been copying and loading files very quickly, including Premiere Pro exports and raw image processing in Photoshop. I recommend.
I have more than 30 G Drives. I use them for file backups, video files including video editing, and long term storage of videos, photos, and music. I have never had any significant problems with any of the drives. I bought this drive for a new Mac Mini I will be purchasing soon. I highly recommend G Drives for external storage.
I am a practically retired shooter/editor, both video and photography. For many years I used G-Technology drives which stood the test of time, so it was with some trepidation that I bought this drive after Western Digital had consumed both G-Technology and SanDisk. My needs have diminished enormously, with my personal media backups being handled by a 6 terabyte master and the backup spread over two older 4tb drives, all G-Tech. I week ago one of those old 4tb drive started clucking like an old hen and refused to mount. Time for a new 6tb drive. This drive seemed to be the only obvious choice and so far I am very pleased with it. Quick, quiet and well build, I have no complaints, I do miss a second port for daisy chaining but I am sure there is a reason for its ... MoreI am a practically retired shooter/editor, both video and photography. The drive is not going to get a lot of spin time so I hope it last as long as I do :)
The standard hard drive I send people when collecting footage from shoots. This one has been mailed to multiple people, and it has worked fine with all of them and stacks well on top of the older models of the same drive. Can't ask for more from a drive.
