Used Sandisk SSDs for as long as I can remember. And I remember VHS & Minidisc. Since the transition from HDD as the OS drive to Solid State being the norm Sandisk SSDs have been bulletproof and never failed me. With NVME popular now, the cost of these is a no brainer for Frankenpc like mine. Adding SSD to older SATA laptops (Shoutout Zorin OS!) is a no brainer. As is grabbing a few spare 250GB as a mirror hot-swap clone of your primary disk. in case the windows is screwy.

A great way to bring an old laptop back to life. I have an almost 6 year old lenovo laptop, which started to feel sluggish in the past year or two. A full restart would take at least 90 seconds, up to 2 minutes, programs would open slowly, the desktop would take a few minutes to fully load after restart. I personally went with a fresh install, rather than trying to copy old junk to my new drive. To people that are afraid to do it, it's simpler than you would think. Go to Microsoft's "Create Windows 10 installation media" page, and run the tool. You would need an empty pen drive. It's all next, next, and it will create a bootable drive out of your pen drive. After you backup all your important files, take out your old HDD, put in the new one, plug in the bootable flash, and switch on your laptop. Since the hard drive is empty, your machine will find the first bootable drive, which would be that pen drive, and from then on out it's just a next, next installer again. It's important to note that most people have their windows licence digital on their Microsoft account. If that's the case, you do not need to enter any licence key during installation, and once you log in to your windows when Cortana prompts you after installation, everything should be working as normal. To check if your windows is activated with a digital license, open the settings app, and search for "Activation Settings" - you should see "Windows is activated with a digital licence linked to your Microsoft account.". Of course make sure that you remember your username/email and password.

Good budget SSD

I've bought two of these, they're not the fastest around but for a budget build or replacement they're a good value and compared to mechanical hard drives the difference in speed is very noticeable. Good value, performance for price

I am favorably impressed by the increased performance compared to two previous cheaper no-name brand SSDs of mine. This was a positive upgrade.Crucial's free Storage Executive supports optional Overprovisioning, something I want. It is both easy to use and provides considerable relevant SSD use information.I found that the overall performance for the price made this a very worthwhile purchase for me.

Having problems, but not sure why.

I came in to get a scan for malware & viruses but was told my hard drive disk was in danger of failure. So upon the serviceman's suggestion, i bought this solid state hard drive that he said was 5 times faster than the disk. Since the SSD was completely blank, all new software had to be installed (Windows 10, Firefox, McAfee, +?). I'm having various problems, but i think the blame is mainly for the software - TINY font sizes, slowness, and ads popping up all over the place. I have no reason to think that the new hard drive isn't working right, but the causes of the problem are hard to determine. My "Yes" reply below, is condiitonal on using caution when installing new software.

Huge Difference in my 2011 MacBook Pro

My 2011 MBP was really slow to start up with the old hard drive and I would never turn it off because it would take minutes to start up and even once I was logged in I had to wait to open any programs. It would be extremely slow to load pages online for several minutes as well. Now it starts right up and I can open programs immediately upon logging in and get full responsiveness. It is so much better and I saved thousands by not upgrading my laptop. It was a great value and I was able to double my original storage space for under $100, which was great because my drive was starting to fill up. No More Rust Drives

I've purchased 12 SSD+ drives over the last 5 years. Obviously I find them satisfactory.All my HDDs have been cloned to SSDs for regular use and these in turn are clonedas needed to spare SSDs for backup. ( I stagger 2 backup drives per OS ... 2 flavorsof Windows & whatever Linux distro I'm currently playing with.) I've also put 2 SSDs inexternal USB enclosures, one for System Images & the other for Data-Only archives.

Now's the time to upgrade to SSD!

Prior to cloning, I had to initialize it in Windows 10 disk management so that the system and Macrium Reflect would recognize it. From that point, it was an easy process, just following the prompts and letting Macrium do that hard part.It didn't take long, despite the fact that the original 1TB drive was well over 50% full. I didn't time it -- I started the cloning process and went to dinner. When we returned, it was finished, showing an 'Operation Completed' message.At that point, I powered down the system, removed the power and data cables from the original drive and connected them to the SanDisk. The system booted right away -- and I really mean RIGHT AWAY! It's always a treat watching the first boot of a computer that's been fitted with a new SSD!Smooth as butta! My system took right up where it left off, but runs significantly faster using any applications that are disk-intensive.Great purchase@

Quality Control is Poor

I purchased two of these drives for an older desktop and laptop. The only positive experience with these SSDs was BH and their great return policy.The first drive stopped responding after 10 minutes of the cloning process and would no longer be recognized by the Crucial cloning software. The second drive was much better, it died within the first hour of the cloning process. It remained accessible from the cloning software so I tried again. It "completed" but was not recognized by the computer when installed as the boot up drive. I received Windows 10 blue error screens that I had not seen since Windows 98. Again, BH made the return process painless. Ultimately, I purchased two Samsung 870 EVO 1 TB SSDs and they installed and are running perfectly without any hassles.

You won't be disappointed
