This Sandisk 128gb Ultra Dual Drive USB A/USB Type C drive is the best small usb OTG drive ive used yet.My daily driver is a OnePlus 6t and i use this drive to back up and transfer files/backups on the go. The speed is great, (my portable sandisk ssd is faster, but this is fast enough for most tasks). the form factor is great. This drive is the first one ive used that can go into my usb c port without having to remove my phone from its case. Ya know, fragile glass backed glass screen devices seem to have more longevity staying in their cases, so its a great win for a longtime android modder like myself. TWRP works well with the drive as does Oxygen OS booted to system. A truly perfect drive to go in my small case of thumb drives and cables i carry on me daily (old ... Well, I have 4 of these Ultra Dual Drives, they all look identical, three are 128 GB in size, and one is 64 GB. They all work ok, no issues with the sliding thingy's but my use has been in a clean environment. Problem are the 128 GB drives, They seems to have gone through a hardware revision. The new revision is slower than the old, The old drive peaks at 175 MB'sec in crystal diskmark, whilst the new drives peak at 134 MB'sec, they are overall much slower.

I bought two of these 256GB drives; I own 6 of the 128GB. I use all these drives for backup of work folders. The 128GB's are very slow, but usable. The 256GB are either defective or just a very poor-performing product. I formatted both drives on a MacBook Pro, one for Mac (#1) and one for Windows (#2). The #1 was very slow; it took about 1 hour to transfer 150GB. Is this normal? The #2 took 2.5 hours to transfer 35GB; this is obviously not right.I was disappointed with the 128GB drives, but I thought of them as disposable backups. But the 256GB's are just terrible.

This product is useless! There are NO DIRECTIONS in how to make the stupid thing work. I have repeatedly gone to the website they provide to get some sort of information on how to use this SANDISK ULTRA DUAL DRIVE USB TYPE-C 128GB works with my iPad Pro in which they say it is compatible. But for the life of me I can’t get any manual for the product that I purchased. The website that is provided is just as worthless as the Sandisk I bought.
I've never had a SanDisk product but, since I have been a fan of Western Digital for such a long time, I thought I give SanDisk a chance. While it performs as expected, the quality of the material and design is mediocre at best. The USB-A end of the flash memory is extremely brittle and, in under three months of light use, it began to crack and pieces started to chip off. This thing needs to either be made of much tougher plastic or completely made of metal. I took two stars off because quality is more important than performance to me. I'm giving the flash drive away to someone else who doesn't mind cosmetic imperfections and going back to Transcend or Kingston. Goodbye, SanDisk!
Pleased to see the dual connect... and both worked...and the usb c connect was about 2x faster than than the usb 3 endtested xferring about 15 GB to the drive from an SSD drive.drive was noticeably warm (not hot) to the touch.fastest speed I noted for the drive, usb-c, occasional bursts ~20 Mb/susb 3 about half that. xferring the same 15GB from one part of the SSD to another gave speeds over 300Mb/sLimitations are due to the SanDisk.Performance is VASTLY under spec
I've owned this USB drive for about 3 years now and it has gotten to the point that I don't bother using it anymore. The locking mechanism that the USB uses is extremely weak. In order to extend the USB connector out of the cases, you press down on a little button and slide either to the left or the right, depending whether you want a Type-A or Type-C port. This initially worked well, however over time the locking mechanism has becoming so weak that when trying to insert the USB Type-A port into a computer, it simply collapses/retracts back into the case, so you're forced to awkwardly hold the button down with your thumb while trying to plug the USB in.The Type-C side of the drive doesn't suffer as much from this issue as Type-C ports usually offer less ... SummaryIf you want to spend 24 times more on a flash drive that advertises newer 300MBs speeds, then of course you may get around a doubling of the read and writes shown here. But of course youre paying usually significantly more for the privilege, and those flash drives are typically much bulkier as well, this one is only 4x2x1cm in size. Also, there are currently NO others or at least none from main brands on the market that do both USBA and USBC on one stick. This does the expected speeds, connected using the expected types. As of March 2018... If you need both AC connection types, this is the one youre gonna need to buy. If you want faster speeds, at a higher price 19 quid for 64GB model, whilst sacrificing having both AC USB connections, then look elsewhere.EDIT one week laterTwo quick points...1 Faster drive. Those looking for SanDisks 300MBs speed drive, which is more expensive double the priceGB, bulkier, only has a USBA port and no USBC port. Then the SanDisk Extreme PRO the current one they do in 128GB 256GB sizeshttpswww.amazon.co.ukgpproductB01MU8TZRV2 Format.I should have said originally, Mac users will likely want to reformat the drive in Disk Utility app.The drive natively comes in FAT32, which only allows max file sizes of 4GB. So I used Mac OS Extended Journaled and GUID Partition Map type. Likely only work on Macs though, but thats my work environment. Speeds quoted in main review above remain the same, BTW.ExFAT could also be used not sure whether thats as Master Boot Record or GUID Partition Map type I think the latter is best for newer OSs like Sierra onwards or Win 7 onwards, but thats got limitations e.g. max 11 character drive partition names, see herehttpssupport.apple.comkbPH22240localeenGBHope this helps any Mac and Win users who are unsure.
Ok, Ill start with the positives. Its a very handy, small USB stick that you can take anywhere with you. With a 256gb storage youll probably never run short of space, and having a retractable USB type C and standard USB connectors its very convenient. However, this is where the positives for me stop. Im a wedding photographer and halfway through the day I transfer all images taken to that point over to my MacBook Pro USBC only. From the Compact Flash cards 160mbs rated read speeds I use a USB C 3.1 adapter and I transfer about 70gb of photos in about 1015 minutes using his method. This is actual times experienced.I then transfer the copy fro my MacBook to this 256gb SanDisk 3.1 drive rated 150mbs read speeds For those who dont know, 3.0 is the same as 3.1 gen 1 in ... They simply renamed 3.0 to 3.1 for USBC devices. This last process should take 1015 minutes also, but in reality takes over TWO HOURS to complete. Why Why does this take so long compared with the 15 minutes it takes for me to transfer from the SanDisk CF Cards using the very same ports and technologyFor me, this device is absolutely not fit for purpose. If I wanted these speeds Id opt for a USB 2.0 USB drive.SanDisk, any comments
Considering this is usb 3.1/C compatible, its performance is very poor. It takes no time at all for it to get really warm, even hot. Once this happens it throttles data transfer speeds to kbs, not even Mb. My old WD Elements portable mechanical drive far exceeds this device in performance. It never reaches anywhere near close to the transfer rates it advertises. I have no confidence in the reliability of this device, so after it taking hours to backup data that I was able to backup onto my WD in minutes, it is now sat in a drawer. I wanted a small footprint device for easy, portable and efficient access to my files between devices, this is not it.
