Top manufacturer 1TB ssd for not much money means the end of traditional hard drives for me. It might not be the ultimate in speed, but unless you're a benchmark freak, who cares? When my laptop became slow, I considered getting a new one with a faster processor and more memory. Due to cost and a friend's recommendation I ended replacing the hard disk. I cloned my existing drive into the SSD and swap them. To my surprise, the laptop worked better than new. The infamous windows sand clock went away! A faster disk rebalances the use of computer resources giving you a better combination of processor-disk-memory. My Lenovo T400 works fast, without problems. I am very happy that I got the SanDisk SSD.

This was a replacement OS Drive on my for my Sabertooth X79. My first SSD was 256GB, but after a year it had become un-usable. I tend to move lots of data. SSD Drive are known to leave a small % of undeletable data anytime something is deleted from the drive, so given enough time this garbage data fills up the drive until there is no space left. The price per GB for SSD's has dropped while the quality and dependability has risen. I paid less for this 512GB drive than I did a year ago for the 256GB. This drive worked perfect and is extremely fast. One thing to note: I thought the garbage data on my old drive made it un-usable. This is not true. After a heart breaking hard drive failure in the past, I always make a hard drive copy of my both laptop and desktop. I used this product as my new desk top's hard drive and keep the original as my back-up drive. Reason is that, my original drive is smaller in capacity and I also want to find out how this hard drive perform. It's been few months now and this SanDisk SSD X400 still work beautifully.
I picked the X400 for three reasons "the expected failure rate" the guarantee and the price!. The X400 is not the fastest SSD available but is still around 25 times faster than your old HDD and boots my laptop in about 30 seconds from hitting the power button and the X400 has an expected failure rate of 320 terabytes written and will be still working long into the future saving me the cost of a new SSD drive when I get a new PC. It also comes with a five year warranty! if you register it with SanDisk online. I bought my 512 Gb X400 a few months ago for around 120 delivered on eBay uk with no regrets. Regards
This drive was used to replace an old disc drive. It starts up faster and doesn't create as much heat. The drive looked and worked just as new. Highly recommend these. Thanks
As long as you use the X400 in a SataII older system you will be just fine. However, this leads me to the question... why on earth is this drive so expensive still??? As of the time of writing, Newegg shows $194.99?? The Samsung 860 Pro 256GB is currently on sale for $99!! And there are even cheaper alternatives. Believe me the speed of the Samsung is in excess of 500 M/s. Frankly, for the kind of money that is being asked for the X400, and the limited performance, I would buy something else these days.
This single purchase transformed my old ultrabook. I had upgraded the RAM previously, but it didn't help my old slow system. My processor is still not the greatest, but this halved the boot time of my laptop. File transfer rates are awesome. Very much worth the purchase.
