This hub has a clean aesthetic and feels solid to the touch. I mainly chose it because its appearance is similar to that of the razer mercury white. The ports on the hub are not well designed. The Ethernet port is especially terrible. I haven’t been able to remove the Ethernet cable I plugged into the hub. I decided to keep it because I was too lazy to return it, and because I don’t think this hub will move from my desk ever. The usb and display ports are also too tight, but these are more tolerable than the Ethernet port. There are several reviews on amazon reporting the same issue.

I had issues with connecting a monitor via HDMI to my Mac Book Pro through this hub. I contacted Satechi, LG and Apple. Satechi support was outstanding with really good follow up. The issue was not with the hub but with an Apple / LG comparability with the M1processor and the LG widescreen. I connected a different HDMI monitor and it worked fine. The size provides just what I needed and easy to take with me if I need to read a camera memory card.

I have been using this adapter for a little over a month. Although it has been completely fine when I need to connect and use a USB device, it has been abhorrent with connecting to an HDMI, which is the primary reason I purchased this device. When I connect to a monitor, it lags so much I am not able to accomplish any task, and when I have used for presentation, the screen "blinks" incessantly. I would love to think that it wasn't this device, but some incompatibility issue, except that I had to buy a different HDMI adapter for my MacBook and I am not having any of the same issues with either the monitor or the projector (and using on the same ones).

This product was recommended to me by a Micro Center employee. I had picked an unsuitable one online and this was better and cheaper.Besides having a mini-display port , which we needed to interface with an Apple monitor, it has an HDMI ,Ethernet and USB TYPE A ports. It also has USB-type C power pass-though.It was really plug and play , no drivers needed for Ethernet, which was appreciated. The only think I wish for is for the cable to be 6 inches longer.
Pros: This product arrived timely to Australia. It is the same colour as my macbook air and is a sleek design.Cons: The usb-a port does not support the apple USB-Superdrive. Whilst this is not essential to all users, it makes me wonder what else it will not support that I should have been told about. It also will not charge an ipad (which, whilst stated on the website, is a design downfall).
As is bought the second and bigger version of the usb c (because this one includes a SC card reader) I was looking for a professional solution. As a Photographer and in front of clients, this device is sadly but truly a shame. the connection to USB is ok so far. But the Card reader is one disaster. I used it one time on a photo shooting and it disconnected the SC card EVERY single time so that everybody around us had to wait multiple times. Now I'm back with my 14$ HAMA Card reader - NEVER disappointed....btw, the first and smaller direct connected USB hub was more bad than this one- it was so unreliable in the usb c connection that it nearly broke from my Mac....wow...really?
Positives: Ethernet and Mini DP works and my MBP 13" charges when the power adapter is connected to the hub. My headset which is connected to one of the USB ports also works.Negatives: It does not pick up and mount my Kingston USB3 memory stick. Neither does it mount the Sandisk memory card. Both of these work with my pre USB-C MacBook Pro. Also, it does not recognize my externally powered HD drive. Conclusion: A MacBook Pro USB-C and this Satechi hub is not a reliable pair. At least not for me. Is there a problem with the Mac, the hub or both? I don't know. But it is annoying but I do not have time nor resources to explore all possible hubs on the market. I was hoping that this would be a good hub.
Satechi was recommended by an Apple Store salesperson. However, when I opened up my new MacBook Pro and plugged my Rugged RAID Thunderbolt cable into the Satechi port, nothing happened. The connection wouldn’t take. As a result, I had to go back and purchase Apple's Thunderbolt 3.0 to Thunderbolt 2.0 Adapter. Extremely disappointed that I ended up paying an extra $100 for something that didn’t work for my most important MacBook Pro backup device. Aluminum Type-C Multimedia Adapter
Now that Apple have put USB-C on their new MacBook Pros, adapters have become a truly essential accessory; you can't connect to anything without them, so when you order them, you need them NOW. Which is why I'm so surprised that shipping from Satechi for this device is so slow. It has already been 11 days and I still don't have my device. And the shipping status just says "in transit"; I think it's been pulled into a black hole. Satechi, you've really gotta fix this part of your business. People can't wait this long for your products. And you need a service that provides better info than just "in transit". Hopefully it'll be a great product that was worth the wait, but I really can't recommend you to others if this is how long it takes to ship something. I live in a big city with many daily, direct flights from Los Angeles, where the item shipped from. Yes, I'm in Canada, but there's no need to have to wait this long. I get other things from US online retailers in a couple of days without choosing the expensive shipping option. This is majorly problematic. Great way to start a business relationship, by showing everyone you're unreliable.
Hi,I bought two of this adapters for home and work place to attach second monitor and be able to use usb 2.0/3.0 ports as long as read/write flash cards and use wired network. I have HP 27" monitor with displayport. When I connect second monitor through satechi usb-c adapter it turns on only if laptop (macbook pro 2019) is attached to the power adapter. Without power attached monitor won't start. Both usb-c adapters behave save way. Second thing I am confused is when I turn off second monitor with its power button or disconnect displayport cable from usb-c adapter, the screen stays extended. And only if I disconnect satechi usb-c adapter from macbook - screen changes to single-monitor. Both adapters work the same as in first case. This is very disappointing ... MoreHi,I bought two of this adapters for home and work place to attach second monitor and be able to use usb 2.0/3.0 ports as long as read/write flash cards and use wired network.
