I’ve been wearing Saucony Jazz since 1996. This new “81” version is TERRIBLE!!! The heal has less support, the toe box is too tight, and the mesh is awful looking. Also the tongue is too thin. WHY DID YOU MAKE THESE CHANGES?! And for twice the price? Major downgrade. Saucony, read the room, loyal customers for years are super disappointed in this crappier versio. Of what was once a uniquely excellent shoe. Now it’s just some “onitsuka tiger” retro piece of junk. Tight and uncomfortable. MAKE THE ORIGINAL.

I have been a loyal customer for 20 yrs.. and still currently own about 30 pairs so i have some experience in Saucony products, and their sizes. Im a size 8-8.5 in womens and a 6.5 in mens- a 7 is usually just too loose in most cases- however, this particular pair of 6.5 shoes were just TOO SMALL- about a half a size at least if not a little more.. i have kept them and tried to "stretch em and make em work" idk y i do that bc i KNOW better, like i KNOW that they will not magically stretch.. i guess i am just wishful thinking. The ONLY other time that i have had an issue like this was when i ordered saucony via Amazon- i had this same issue with a pair or 2 of them from there.Im not really sure WHY this happens sometimes, guess it just does.. but for the MOST PART ... MoreI have been a loyal customer for 20 yrs.. and still currently own about 30 pairs so i have some experience in Saucony products, and their sizes. (also im not blaming it all on saucony completely bc i guess it could have been me, perhaps my foot fluctuated??) Anyhow i LOVE this shoe and ALL of their Original Jazz and Shadow shoes!! They help me with my achey bones and muscular skeletal pain. ( also, they r just my style) !! Please NEVER STOP making these!!

I just got these and was very disappointed. The color online said red/white. I got these to wear to football/basketball games because team colors are red and yellow. They are not red. They are orange. People kept making comments like, “those are cute but very orange”. There also is no arch support and not the most comfortable if on your feet for very long. Very disappointed as I love my Saucony running shoes. I wish the description matched the actual shoe color.

Quickly becoming my new favorite pair of shoes. They feel rugged and well made but lightweight. Very comfortable as well. Nice lil bounce to my step. I usually wear a size 10 (sometimes 10.5). I read other reviews and decided to go a half size up (10.5). They fit perfect. Only minor complaint is that half way through the day the shoes become loose on my feet and I need to relace them to tighten them up again. Not a huge deal. A tad expensive at the retail price but probably worth it. Definitely worth it at the sale price I got (approx $70).
One word Review: "Uncomfortable"(2nd One Word Review: "Rigid")I've had these shoes for 3 weeks now. I've done some considerable walking in them. Really given them a chance and done some work as I want them to function as shoes. I've exclusively owned Saucony shoes for walking and running for the last 8 years. I only go with Saucony because they have always been reliably comfortable and fit me well. This shoe surprised me by its discomfort. The heel-back, and top, is so rigid that after 10 miles of walking, I'm only just started to feel it break-in, barely. Same goes for the side of the shoes, very rigid and inflexible. Walking in them, they flexed very little with each step, and these are not cork or rubber foot-beds, it's supposed to be foam and plastic... Same goes for the side of the shoes, very rigid and inflexible. Walking in them, they flexed very little with each step, and these are not cork or rubber foot-beds, it's supposed to be foam and plastic... So the entire shoes moves a little too independently while walking--like a clog or birkenstock, this is supposed to be a sneaker, not those standing-still shoes...I had blisters on my ankles on each of the first three walks. I'll say that the shoes behaves as if it is too large, but I must own 16 pairs, all size 10.5M, all the rest--walking, running, cross-training, racing--are more comfortable shoes. I've never had this experience with Saucony.I don't know if something is going on with the company, and there's new management or manufacturers, or if this is an experimental shoe, or what... but this is the most uncomfortable Saucony shoe I have ever walked in. Since my size was always teh same, I felt confident ordering online... bad idea, I guess. Sorry, Saucony, I might not come back.. no big loss to you; disappointing change for me.. I had recommended Saucony to everyone... I won't be. Not with blisters still 2 weeks in, with the same shoe size as always... I realise that I got the Unisex size 10.5 as I was trusting the company that it would be truly Unisex... not an impossible-to-picture middle-ground... the uni-sex sizing seemed the only sizing available for this model. the intention is to be handy, the result is to be annoying.I would give only 1 Star, because they currently do not function as shoes for me, due to the discomfort, but I gave 2 Stars because they can be used to prop-open doors, and keep papers from flying away... If I take a wooden mallet to all the rigidly-uncomfortable parts, and beat them into softness, then maybe.... maybe... maybe they'd be comfortable after being basically crushed to death...
Used to love these, I have owned no less than 60 pairs in my life time but Saucony made a drastic change to unisex sizes. This could have been addressed easier by implementing wider sizes but they chose not to. It's hard to say if they run small big narrow and or wide the fit consistency within the classics are at best UNRELIABLE. I've called Saucony many times and politely inquired about doing a slightly wider fit as an option for atleast the basic original Jazz, even just the basic black and blue color, but go no real response. Maybe if they see it in these reviews. IDK
This new “81” version is garbage. Saucony changed the last after 40+ years of this shoe being perfect. It’s narrower and tighter in the toe box. It lost all the qualities that made this an epic, one of a kind retro sneaker. Now it’s just another “onitsuka tiger” fashion shoe. I wore this brand for over 25 years exclusively. Now I’m wearing new balance. Screw you Saucony. At the very least, license the old last to someone who will be faithful to the original and not screw over long time loyal customers.
I rarely leave reviews and have been a Saucony girl for almost twenty years. I have always purchased the Saucony Jazz. I work in the medical field so would always buy two pair at a time to switch out every six months. I left the Saucony brand for a couple of years but came back this year and sadly, regret that decision. In February I purchased two pair and this month was due to switch out shoes. I have only been wearing these for a couple of weeks but now have a sprained foot. The support of these shoes in the heel area is just awful. I have the shoes tied as tightly as will go just to try and stabilize fit better. By the end of the day the top of my foot is throbbing. Needless to say I am disappointed in a brand I have loved for so long. I have listed the other pair on EBay for 40 bucks for those that still love this shoe. As for me I have learned unisex shoes are not for me. Our feet are made differently. And this is where we part, Saucony. We had a nice ride together. Good luck in future endeavors.
I have been buying The Jazz for years, and thought that the Jazz 81 would be similar in comfort and fit to past generations of Jazz that I loved. I ended up very disappointed. There is no arch support. The heel feels very firm with minimal padding. The tongue is not padded. The Mesh on the footbed looks glossy and cheap. Overall, a very disappointing buy. This pair is a downgrade from my old pair. Saucony has ruined a good thing, I am contemplating switching brands at this point.
Nice looking shoe, but unfortunately had to return because these are listed under unisex, which is men’s sizing, and I somehow missed that as it was listed when I chose to browse women’s shoes. And when I realized this my size had already sold out. Dear designers/marketing team…it is OK (and very much appreciated) to still have traditional gendered clothing and shoe sizes. There are many people like myself who are not interested in decoding the newest trendy marketing ploy just to find a great shoe that fits. And everything in “women”s” sizing doesn’t need to be pink or look ultra feminine. As a female, I do prefer a shoe in more neutral colors, but don’t really want to have a man’s fit — there is a difference.
