Fit great but lack sufficient tread.

I’ve been running in Rides for many years. The 16s fit great on my foot, perfect actually. They are very lightweight. I love the new colors (I bought the green/pink and the white, they were my Mother’s Day gift). Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to be using them for running. There is very little tread on the 16s. Makes it slick for outdoor running. I fell about 3 miles into my run. Hard. On cement. The shoe just slipped. When I compare these to my older Rides, I’m surprised at how flat the bottoms are comparatively. I’ve been running on a regular basis for 25 years. I’ve used Rides in multiple half marathons. Will have to look for a new shoe.

Great fit; terrible quality

Honestly….I’m probably generous in giving this 3 stars. Not because I don’t like the fit of the shoe and it’s comfort, because I do. I’ve been a long-time wearer of Saucony shoes and this is my first time in the Ride from the Guide. (After looking at my wear pattern, I realized I didn’t need the slight stability.) The toe box is nice and roomy, and I love the 8mm drop. I rate these shoes low, because the quality is terrible. I treadmill walk or outdoor walk in them approximately 3 times a week, usually no more than 3 miles at a time. I think they’re about 6 months old, but like I said, not every day and not huge mileage. I have two huge holes in the heel of right foot, which has literally never happened in a pair of Saucony shoes before. The left shoe has one heel ... MoreHonestly….I’m probably generous in giving this 3 stars. Not because I don’t like the fit of the shoe and it’s comfort, because I do. I wear Balega socks 99% of the time and ALWAYS untie my shoes before taking them off. The tread/bottom of the shoe is awful. There’s one picture in the reviews showing the previous tread pattern vs current, and it’s true — the tread wears SO quickly. It’s absurd. I feel like the shoes have a lot of potential life left in them, but the heel holes are getting problematic. I wontt be buying Saucony shoes for walking again, unfortunately, which is a shame, because I’ve been wearing them for years; when I find something that works for me, I like to stick with it. Unfortunately, I’m going to look elsewhere for (hopefully) better quality in a walk/run shoe.

The Ride 16 in wide fits just right. The Ride 15s were too narrow even in wide width and had no room in the toe box. Saucony (and every other manufacturer) has been making shoes narrower and narrower since 2020. What used to be a Regular width is now a Wide width when comparing new vs older models of the same shoes. The Ride 16s slight increase in width and roomier toe box were a welcomed relief! These are a great all around shoe for easy, long, and speed work runs. The foam provides enough support and cushion without being too plush.I’m happy with these shoes and only hope they add more color selection for the next model!

Lesser quality than prior Ride models
20 October 2023

I’ve worn Saucony Rides for the last five years, and the Triumphs prior to that. I’ve run several marathons, and never had any issues. The Ride 16s are made with poor quality materials compared to previous versions. There’s also stiff leather with a hard seam across the top that prior models didn’t have. I tried them on and it was uncomfortable standing there. I can’t imagine running marathons in them like I did with prior models. Definitely returning these.

Love em
16 April 2024

I ordered these about a month ago. My last 3-4 pairs were the Hoka arahi 6, but these aren’t available anymore and reviews for the 7s made it sound like I wouldn’t like them. I have wide-ish flat feet and naturally supinate, although now that I’ve been running a while my gait is more neutral. I’m glad I made the switch to the saucony ride. They feel really springy and are lightweight. My only issue is they run maybe half a size smaller than the hokas and the laces are really short. Will definitely be ordering again. Oh for reference I just run for fun and might run a couple half marathons a year. Typical weekly mileage is about 25 miles and I run about a 9 minute mile.

Love love love Stride 16
31 January 2024

I had my stride evaluated and feet measured and the Stride 16 was recommended. Love the shoe. Bought it in grey at the store and then bought a black pair online. The toe box is roomy and the shoe fits like a glove. When I walk there is just enough squish to soften the pounce of pavement and hard floors. Love the Ride 16. This was my first pair since grade school some 40 years ago.

Love the shoes / Hate the packaging
10 April 2024

I'm only giving 4 stars, not because of the shoes (which are great) but because of the cheap packaging that is being used now. I was very disappointed when I got a box in a cellophane bag instead of the usual cardboard box as in the past. The shoebox itself was all busted up and there was no return label enclosed, as in the past. I didn't think it had been that long since I ordered shoes as Saucony are the ONLY shoes I buy, but apparently things have changed and not for the better. :-(I still have my old Saucony shoeboxes and use the for various storage bins around the house, plus I rotate my shoes and box up the ones I don't currently use (for easier storage). I had to throw this shoebox out.I love the shoes but hate the new packaging. :-(

Not great
7 January 2024

This is my third pair and long time saucony wearer. I wear these, as my older ones for my workouts on a cushion floor. I've been wearing these for 2 months now. Just not as comfortable as my older ones. My orthotics just don't sit right in them. Yet my older ones, both pairs, they were fine from day one. Just not impress with the new model. Would not buy them again.

Too uncomfortable to use
24 October 2023

I've worn the Ride exclusively for over 10 years, and I usually go through about 5+ pair each year. In the past, they were perfect for my narrow heel/wider forefoot. Unfortunately, the Ride 14 was the last good year for these, even though the soles wore down too quickly on that model. For the last two years, the design has changed too much and the size of the toe box has been reduced, making them too uncomfortable to wear for even a short run. I tried the wide in the Ride 16, and that's even worse as it's wide all the way back through the arch. The Ride 16 also lacks cushioning/rebound found in the prior years, adding to the overall discomfort of this shoe. I am so disappointed with the new design, and they're too uncomfortable to wear. Took a good thing and wrecked it

I ran in multiple pairs of the ride 15s for years. They were phenomenal, and now that I'm on my last pair, I had to move to the new version: the Ride 16s.This shoe is a complete departure from what we know the ride to be. If you're looking for a similar experience, you won't get it with this shoe. This shoe is HARD. It hurts to run in. Out of the box, the Ride 15s could be worn for miles. The 16s hurt before I'm done warming up. There is cushion, but not the same give that the Ride 15s had. It's also heavier, as if they changed the very material and density of the midsole. The updated tongue is less attached and the laces are wonky, making the whole on/off experience strange and rife with annoyance.Aesthetically, the 16s lack. They don't look as sporty, giving more of a Brooks Ghost vibes, which is really too bad. The new tongue also has a very ugly seam down the middle which can be seen through the laces. And of course, the otherwise black and white women's shoe was given a pink tag and lace tips, which feels a little reductive.I purchased my pair on running warehouse and they're going back.
