Beware the Seam

These turned out to be not so much to my liking, largely due to an irritating seam between the heel and the collar. To be blunt, although the styling is very snazzy, they’re not very ambulatory shoes and I was very disappointed. I remember being blown away by the comfortable foam heel of the Ride 14, which I attributed to design rather than materials, but in my senseless vanity, I wanted a smart, retro looking sneaker that uses less plastic, and is designed for walking rather than running. I tried the Omni Walker 3 and the fabric heel was quickly shredded by moderate activity. It’s not that I have a particularly incisive or sharp heel—it’s an utterly conventional foot, and I assure you I secure my feet within the shoes very carefully. It’s not that I have a particularly incisive or sharp heel—it’s an utterly conventional foot, and I assure you I secure my feet within the shoes very carefully. Regrettably, the materials simply weren’t durable.I've had decent leather sneakers in the past, and for a higher price point I figured the Shadow Premium would deliver on both. This would prove to be incorrect as the footbed was cramped compared to the Ride, and the leather construction of the upper was actually quite unforgiving despite hours of trying to break them in--a process that ought to be unheard of for sneakers. I'd intended to use them as an athletic shoe at the gym as well as a street shoe, but they're altogether unsuited for movement due to a painfully placed seam between the collar and the heel of the shoe. The effect is rather like having your bare skin rasped at each stride. As with the Omni Walker, multiple ingenious and unconventional lacings were attempted, with a variety of aftermarket insoles. I have little doubt that an anatomical freak could be located to fit the shoe perfectly, but I consulted the size chart closely in respect to width and length of my foot, and it simply would not hunt at the specified size of 10.5. In the future I'll probably temper my expectations--an athletics shoe that looks good and feels good at an acceptable price point simply does not exist in this day and age--I think the most useful way of thinking about it is that the uglier the shoe is designed to be, the more comfortable it will end up being for your average consumer. Saucony, if you’re willing to indulge this fantasy, I propose that what you do is essentially to -skin- a Shadow 6000 and put it onto a Ride 14 with a less pronounced heel drop to support walking. Use foam construction on the heel and a leather upper. Style, comfort, performance. That would be nice.

The shoe is a classic from when I was a young person. I brought these for my daughter just because they have always looked so great and to let her know that there are other shoes that have that priceless tag other than NIKE. I have always loved the brand. They look great and feel just as comfortable and fashionable as they also have.

Comfortable but firm sole (I notice the impact when I’m walking). The reviews said they fit tight and to order a half-size up, which I did, but they don’t fit like other Saucony products I own. They “fit” but due to the firmness, I notice they are on my feet. Most Sauconys I wear all day and forget about them. They’re not uncomfortable, they’re just noticeable.

Good shoe, but red colorway is not as advertised
27 September 2024

2 stars might be a little harsh- my third pair of these in recent history. Shoes run a little snug in the normal size, but my main gripe is how the color is advertised in the red color way. The greys were good, the orange color arrives as advertised, but the red colorway is DEFINITELY pink. It’s not even close to the photos by a long stretch. Sadly, there’s no other color ways I particularly like, so pink it is.

I love the Shardow 6000 line and this color rocks!
7 November 2023

Purchased about a month ago and they defintely look the same as the adds. I almost sent them back, not because I didn't like them but because the orange may box you in in terms of what you can wear with them. Knowing me, I'm happy bringing them out a few times a year for a dope effect so I kept them. Glad I did.

Love the style
9 June 2024

I have been looking for red sneakers to wear to the UGA games. I finally found a pair! Unfortunately the 8.5 were too small and I had for return. I love the look of the sneaker and thinking about purchasing the size 9.

New Saucony Shadow 6000 Unisex model is too narrow
8 January 2024

I've been running on the Shadow 6000 since 1994. The quality has varied through the years but has been acceptable. Now they have introduced the Unisex model and have narrowed the toe box. There is no option to get the original wider model. I can no longer run in this shoe. Not sure what Saucony is thinking here!! They have ruined a good shoe!!

Not the shadow OG, but I like them.
10 December 2023

Coming from shadow originals, these are different, sizing runs larger I needed 11 vs my usual 10.5 for shadow OG. Comfortable shoes. Not sure I'll get another pair but not mad that I bought these.

The Third Time Is A Charm
19 December 2023

They say, third times a charm! As stated in another review I've read, there is no such thing as properly fitting unisex sneakers. I wear a women's 8.5, after sending these back 2x and reordering (I really liked the look of them), The third pair fit (well enough)to finally keep this pair in a size 7 ! That being said, I love the look of these sneakers, and they are comfortable.

Uncomfortable!
11 October 2022

Hi there and thanks for reaching out. I usually wear a 12 and these fit too tight...very uncomfortable even to walk in. Feels like my toes are being pushed forward into the front of the shoe. Perhaps I should have ordered the wide fit...does not feel like any other shoe I've worn before and I wear running shoes, slip ons...etc. Any thoughts on where I went wrong would be helpful...should I go up a size or wider fit?
