Nice smooth reel. Lays the braid evenly on spool. Drag lack a bit of adjustment at light settings but is reasonably smooth with plenty of power for heavier braids. $200 is too much for this reel but good value when discounted.Mine turned up without the spare spool it was meant to have. When I eventually realized what had happened and emailed customer service I got no replies. Pretty poor customer service.
I have been using the Savage Gear SG8 2500 reel since it was released in Australia mid-2021. Over that time, it has proven itself to be a super reliable cost effective reel.Capable of finesse presentations for bream and whiting as easily as whipping large soft plastics for flathead and mulloway this reel is a genuine estuary all-rounder.I am not kind t my gear and expect a lot in return but the SG8 has remained smooth and nice to use.
This is probably the most expensive reel I have bought over the years but wow what a reel. Small light and oozing quality. Very happy.
Really smooth and well made with nice tight tolerances. Great value on special. Spare spool very handy.
Smooth, powerful drag. Spool well balanced. Supplied with 2nd spool allowing a quick change to another line class when required
Bought a 2500 when it first came out. Amazing quality for the market value. First trip out landed a good 76cm flathead amongst many others casting soft plastics. Drag system is very strong and such a lightweight reel for its size!
I couldn't believe the specs for the price although yet to test the impressive 15kg rated drag. Excellent match with my Savage Gear Squad 9' 5-10kg spin rod, especially with soft plastics. Cast well with smooth retreive.
