What an absolute piece of crap. So much so that Bunnings are only tarnishing their reputation by selling it.Wouldn’t believe a single review about “adjusting it” to make it work. Tried all of it but no amount of “adjusting” is turning this heap of crap into anything but that…crap!

So I borrowed my brothers battery powered mower to cut the length down to a medium height and then tried the push mower again. Still cuts absolutely terribly, when at all, and throws the grass clippings all over the place.Apparently there’s reel push mowers that do a brilliant lawn cut without gas or electricity etc and they’re quieter than petrol too. But this isn’t the one and no matter what I did or guides I followed I couldn’t get it to do it’s job properly.I kept my receipt and got a refund thank you kindly Bunnings… but save yourself the hassle of spending hours to get it to work before also having to return it when you meet with the inevitable same conclusion I did.There’s a great Reel push lawn mower out there somewhere… But this isn’t it.Don’t bother. It’s terrible.

Found one on the side of the road and tried it on my council strip buffalo grass that hasn’t been mowed for a month. It cut well but need to push back and forth as I expected. After I adjusted the cut height lower and gave the lawn a second round. The lawn never looked so good after being mowed compared to rotor mower. Based on bad reviews here I gather it requires proper adjustment which the old owner probably did which is why it works for me. I need to compare with more expensive brands to see what I am missing out on, but without a baseline for comparison my conclusion is this mower surprisingly does the job and since it’s light weight, convenient and easy to use I’ll be able to mow more regularly. I would recommend buying this.

Terrible product - bought to cut a small nature strip but can't even do that.. Unless you have a beautifully manicured lawn, it will not cut - it does not cut thick grass or weeds. Grass goes everywhere except the grassscatcher. Grass catches in the blades so you need to remove by hand and start again. If you are over 6 foot tall, expect a very sore back after using. This item should be withdrawn from sale. Mine is going straight to the tip and have to buy a petrol lawnmower instead.
Me being naive, I thought that this mower could at the very least do a small yard a few times. I was wrong, the grass would often get tangled in the wheels and in the end, it was the cheap malleable handle that bent out of shape while trying to push it. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra money.I have had this issue with several different Saxon products and it was seems the be the same issues with the metal being bendier than tin. Just don’t go near it.
I have tried numerous push cylinder hand mower as i love the upper body and cardio workout and the "flat" appearance they leave. At 40cm this is the widest cut in this type of mower. This is only second in my humble opinion to the well engineered and quality Bosch 38cm mower which lasted me years but is twice the price of the Saxon. The Victa i had was rubbish and the blades the softest and would bend on hitting any obstacle or twig. The Sirdar i had was similar quality to the Saxon, but the cut was too narrow. So, for the price, this is reasonable quality and i recently used it to mow a 1/4 acre block with exposed tree roots and twigs on the ground. It did the job reasonably well but if you want the best, buy the Bosch.
I just bought this today and tried it out to cut the grass outside. Firstly, straight forward to assemble if you read the instructions that goes with the packaging. Then when i used it to cut the grass, it cuts ok and collects the grass with the catcher installed which can then be used as mulch in the garden. Also light weight and easy to use. To be honest i will only use it as a back up if my petrol lawn mower is in for a service or does not work because my petrol lawn mower is more better and quicker plus it makes a neater cut than the push one that i just bought. I also think it's good for my kid to use when he helps me with gardening, supervised of course.
So I followed all the instructions including adjusting the height so that the blade didn’t hit the metal. The wheels barely moved and the blade got caught multiple times on the grass, in the end it wasn’t even the mechanism that broke, it was the super cheap malleable handle that bent out of whack and dislodged from the mower itself after the first use.I was dumb enough to make the mistake of using this brand again thinking it would at-least survive a month. Do yourself a favour and buy a pair of safety scissors, you’ll get more done in less time.
Read the reviews thoroughly and I purchased the item knowing to follow instructions fully re cutting blade clearance setting.That wasn't the problem. The frame pieces that require attaching together and then attaching to the main mowing piece were completely out of distance to face up to other and required significant bending to match up.Blade clearance and unit height setting needed multiple adjustments to operate. Once completed it operated OK.Buying advice would be buy a better quality item, too many problems.
I read the negative reviews before buying, still bought the Saxon today. Took about 5 mins casually putting together without reading the instructions. Didn’t bother about playing around with the height adjustment just had a crack straight out of the box. For $74 honestly no complaints and the results look great! Wanted to add some photos but the website isn’t playing ball, gutted I wanted to show off the lawn.
