Great shoes. I’ve been wearing Scarpa Chimeras for years. The new model is as good as the old but are very slightly larger. So if you’ve had these before you may want to size down a half size from your old model Chimeras.

As if boostic and drago had a child.

It's like taking drago and putting the classic boosting heel in it. Making it slightly less soft and a bit more asymmetrical. If you liked drago you are going to love these, I mostly use them indoors and they have been doing magic. I lost a pair on the subway and got a second pair. Downsized by half a size...

Great shoe, a few gripes

These are very comfortable and look really cool. Heel hooks are super secure, enough rubber on the toes to make any toe hook feel amazing. Smearing is also on point. There are only 2 gripes I have with this shoe. The toe developed a hole within half a year and the shoe itself smells really really bad. Before you say it's all because I don't have good foot technique, or I don't wash my feet: I have a pair of Skwamas that I've had for about 3 years before a hole developed. And the skwamas still don't smell that bad either.

Great sport climbing shoe, good for bouldering too
29 May 2022

I used this shoe for a few weeks now, it is my first real performance oriented shoe for sport routes. This shoe is unbelievably good. Compared to Solutions, it is softer, not so great on tiny footholds, but excellent, and I mean excellent, on nearly everything else. For example, heal hooking with this shoe is stupidly easy. The heal fits wonderfully for my feet, unlike the solutions where the heel box collapses under pressure. Outdoors the shoe is just as fantastic as it is indoors. I sized down 1.5 sizes from 12 to 10.5 US. I cannot stress how comfortable the shoes were to break in. They didn't feel like they were executing my feet or toes at all. I may even size down further for my next pair when the time comes. Overall excellent shoes. I totally recommend them. ... MoreI used this shoe for a few weeks now, it is my first real performance oriented shoe for sport routes. This shoe is unbelievably good. These shoes just happen to be perfect for me.

Like Drago's but better
9 February 2022

I previously had a pair of the bright yellow Chimeras which needed to be sent off for resoling after a hole got worn through the rand in the toe. The time to resole was too long for me to wait, so I decided to pick up another pair of Chimeras to put into rotation. Chimera's are my go-to projecting/try hard-shoe. They are in general a very soft shoe; with more structure than the "rubber sock" feel of the Furias but not springboard like the Instincts; with the capability to edge and toe-in better than the Drago's due to the TPS insert. I wear a very relaxed 42.5 street shoe, 41.5 in Instincts, and 41 in Dragos/Chimeras/Furias. They also look super rad in the new blacked-out color-scheme

Looked awesome but had to return due to sizing
3 February 2022

I bought the largest size chimera they make and couldn’t even get it onto my foot :( I wear a size 11 in Vans and 11.5 and everything else. Pretty sad that scarpa doesn’t make these shoes big enough for even a US 12 to fit in. The shoes looked amazing though for whatever that’s worth.

Next-level climbing shoes

These are the best shoes I’ve ever tried. I often struggle with fit, especially on the heel, but the shape and asymmetric closure is fantastic. The edging and precision is the best I’ve ever tried. The sensitivity is fantastic, while still being decently supported through the mid foot.

Perfect Combination of Edging and Sensitivity
12 April 2023

There is no such thing as a perfect shoe. Some shoes are great for this, but are bad at that, and vice versa. As someone who loves to climb barefoot, if I'm going to wear a climbing shoe, it needs to have some serious sensitivity. The problem is that you usually can't edge all day in sensitive shoes. That's where the Scarpa Chimera comes in. The Chimera allows me to feel every edge and microedge, while the thin fiberglass toe insert allows me to stay steady on them after spending countless hours at the crag.

The most comfortable aggressive shoes
2 January 2023

I was looking for a pair of sensitive and aggressive shoes for overhang bouldering and sport climbing routes. I have very narrow feet so I originally tried the white Drago. Unfortunately, the shape of the toe box didn't fit my greek feet (my second toe is the longest). Chimera fits perfectly. At first I was a little hesitant about the laces, but just after about twenty minutes of wearing them the synthetic microsuede upper and the rubber got softened and became so comfortable that I didn't even need to take them off. It's the first climbing shoe I've owned that requires almost no break in. They are super sensitive and sticky, but perform better than Dragos on small holds because of the TPS support.
