Scarpa Drago Climbing shoes-38

Scarpa Drago Climbing shoes (38, yellow) - Overhangs, small screw-ons and heel hooks - the Drago by Scarpa is the shoe of choice for tricky bouldering problems. Since these climbing shoes come with serious pre-tensioning, they give you plenty of pressure on the toe area and offer so much stability and grip on small holds. The premium Vibram XS Grip2 sole is designed for durability and really sticks to the ground. There is also plenty of rubber in the forefoot region, so that the wearer is well prepared for toe hooks. The material used for the shoe body is microfiber, which hardly stretches out at all and so gives you the same outstanding fit for the first training session, and for the fiftieth. Quick to pull on and off, thanks to the hook-and-loop fasteners as well as the two pull-off loops. The Scarpa Drago is a true high-end climbing shoe, which seems to have been made for the most difficult climbs!

A great all around shoe

I bought these as my first pair of semi-aggressive shoes. It’s amazing how much confidence I got immediately from wearing these shoes. I trusted my feet so much more. They’re stiff and support my feet well, but you can still smear with them. They stick to the wall so well on small holds.I got these when they were half off so I ended up getting a pair for the gym and a pair for out at the crag. They are showing a bit of wear after one season of wearing them outside, but I climb on sandstone so that’s to be expected. I still feel they’ll last me a for a while longer though. As for sizing, my street shoe size is a 9, but I bought 40s for the gym and 40.5s for outside so they’re more comfortable for longer routes and I can wear socks if needed. Best indoor climbing shoe

Been wearing these shoes since summer of 2020 and absolutely love them. The grip they provide has increased my trust in my feet, and I've noticed my footwork improve significantly. You can just feel everything through them, and after the very short break-in period, they were comfortable to wear for hours on end. They're perfect for volumes, indoor climbing holds and smearing. A few weeks ago I wore them outside climbing at Red River Gorge, and they performed excellently! I just wore through the toe after 1.5 years of consistent use, climbing ~3 times a week. For how soft the shoe is, I'm actually impressed they lasted that long. In terms of sizing, I find they're consistent with other Scarpa climbing shoes. I wear a 42.5 in both my Drago's and my Instinct VS.

Comfortable shoes for bouldering and high walls

These shoes are aggressively shaped, but are still soft in terms of flexibility. You will feel sharp point holds through these shoes FYI. They are not as hard as they look. They're so soft in fact, they rubber near the toes have been wearing away faster than my other shoes. They're still super super comfortable shoes though. The inside is more like a soft silk feeling. My feet slip right in even on sizes that are smaller for me. I suggest going a half size down for true aggressive fit. But right now I have a size that's comfortable enough for me to wear these without taking them off between sessions.

Great fit! Very comfortable for an aggressive shoe
28 November 2022

Favorite shoe so far! I've been through four different climbing shoes so far, and these are by far the best. I was expecting them to take a bit to break in, but literally the first time I wore them to climb, they were so comfortable. No break in time at all, which almost makes me think I should have sized down more. I wear a women's 7.5 street shoe, and my Dragos are 39s, and I almost wish I had gone down to 38.5. I was surprised at how much they stretched. I most boulder, and they've been great for the more technical slab climbs, as well as really driving through my toes on overhung climbs.

Great shoe
25 November 2022

I have been climbing with these shoes for roughly a month now and they are by far some of stickiest shoes I've used. Great for overhang especially. From training to casual climbing and even competition settings they're great. Heels don't pop during heel hooks and toe hooks are comfortable and secure. Having these shoes have really allowed me to focus on technical footwork without discomfort. About the only bad thing I can think of is the durability isn't the amazing but not the worst I've seen. Slight wear on the tips after 3/4 days in the gym since I got them with pretty heavy projecting and running circuits (4x4s, pyramids, up-downs, etc.). Highly recommend!

Narrow toe box
25 January 2022

Really wish it were possible to write a review without giving stars; I tried these out, and while they felt snug and super tactile, the toe box was slightly too narrow for my feet. My feet aren?t overly wide, but its enough that I have to take into account when sizing shoes like this, and unfortunately these ones in particular were too narrow. This caused some pinching on the sides, and I think because my feet didn?t make it all the way into the toe box properly, my heel wasn?t seated properly either. Because pretty much the entire toe is wrapped in rubber, it?s not likely to stretch laterally. I will say they felt soft, light, and there was a lot of feel in the tip of the toe to negotiate small holds. The asymmetrical design felt a little weird the way it twisted ... MoreReally wish it were possible to write a review without giving stars; I tried these out, and while they felt snug and super tactile, the toe box was slightly too narrow for my feet. The asymmetrical design felt a little weird the way it twisted your foot, but I can kinda see how it works with the rand.I want to make it clear that this doesn?t make this shoe bad, per se, just something for prospective buyers to take into account. Which is also why I wish I didn?t have to rate it with stars; the shoe just wasn?t meant for me, but I?m sure it?s great for other people. For reference, I have both the VS and VSR, and they fit me perfectly, just wanted something a little less bulky for overhanging boulders. I?d really like to try the Chimera, even though it?s more for sport climbing, because I think laces would help alleviate some of that squeeze with zonal tightening.

Plus 5 Power Up!
14 September 2022

Bought these about a month ago for an upcoming trip to the Red River Gorge climbing area.I'm pretty sure these shoes are a plus 5 power, because I immediately was able to up my highest climbing grades. Obviously they hurt a bit to wear because I sized them down for a tight fit. (My 5.10 Anasazi VCS are snug @ size 41.5, I bought these in 41, so they are TIGHT.) So far they are holding up well, looking good, and performing wonderfully. Just got back from the RRG trip, and the shoes did great. For real though, they felt almost glued to the rock. I'll be interested to see how they wear out over time with such good rubber. Rubber over the toe and around the heel is great too! Toe & Heel hooks were SO NICE. I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat!

Shoe sock

HIGHLY RECOMMENDVery soft shoe(softer then theory's) and very very presice. Light weight, comfortable and easy to break in. The definition of a rubber sock.YOU MUST HAVE DECENT FOOT WORK TO USE THIS SHOE. If you are not precise with your feet in this shoe it will last 2 months. Also, if you plan on stepping on small holds with these shoes you need strong feet.(Fits me perfectly and I have a wide toe box and a shallow heel)I consistently climb V9

Solid gym shoes
6 September 2021

Initially these shoes were pretty uncomfortable, but after breaking them in for about 12 hours they're much more comfortable. I don't think they've stretched much though, just adjusted to fit my feet better.I typically climb 2 hour sessions and can wear them the entire time now. They are pretty firm and I feel confident I won't lose my footing when wearing these. I suspect the durability wont be great based on the wear on the sole so far.I have wide toes and narrow heals. I wish the toe box was a bit wider. The heal fits nicely though.(For reference, I wear 12 US in street shoes and got these in 45 EU.)

Super cool shoes
11 June 2022

I really love these shoes because they were everything that I was looking for. I was nervous that I bought the wrong size but I found the perfect one. Also, my shoes before did not tighten all the way so they were too big. These shoes fit perfectly. The only thing that is a minor problem is the fact that my feet cramp up a little bit in them. Other than that, there is a ton of rubber for toe hooks, they fit snug, and they are perfect for my climbing. Love em!!
