The Scepter jerry can works as expected, except for the black rubber gasket used on the spout. When taking the spout out of the can, and then the spout out of the cap, for use, this gasket is frequently detached from the spout because of its snug fit in the cap. This can lead to this gasket tearing, making it useless and necessitating the purchase of a new jerry can. One cannot purchase a new gasket, by itself. One must buy a new jerry can, or the spout / stopper / gasket assembly for almost the same price as a new jerry can.

Left old red plastic gas can in garage for a year. Squirrel chewed hole through it. Old can had rough surface and rodent got a tooth grip enough to start a hole.. Gas can bought is smooth and should be squirrel and rodent proof. Usual vent in spout. Good idea. One cap or closure for can. Very secure.

Bought this because l have had Scepter containers in the past. I am not fond of the new spout system, so l tried to replace it with one from an older Scepter container. Guess what. The neck is very, very slightly smaller so l could not swap spouts. Oh well, such is life. Apart from that minor issue, everything else is good. I would buy it again.

Fantastic sized Jerry can particularly when going on long trips. Piece of mind at a very affordable price. Love the spout mechanism which can make your car smell on other versions. This one poops back into the fuel can with and lid and you just tighten up the mechanism.
The gas can does not have a vent cap so the pressure inside the tank builds up and the gas leaks out. In my opinion this is a design flaw as there should be a vent cap. There is a vent cap on the larger 25 litre cans. When the gas leaks out from the built up pressure in these small gas cans, I believe this is a health and serious safety concern. I would not buy this size gas can.
Scepter makes most of the Jerry Gas Cans sold in Canada and are a great Canadian success story. They used to make great gas cans with a nozzle and a vent cap that worked perfectly and then they had a "better" idea that included a self-venting nozzle and no vent cap. In my experience, the self-venting nozzle doesn't work well and causes surges and starvations during fillings. Not a huge problem if you're filling a tank bigger than the Jerry Can, but a spill-causing nightmare if you are filling a chain saw or a lawn mower. I highly recommend that Scepter return to the nozzle/vent cap approach and ditch the self-vent nozzle. If you can find a tank with a vent, I'd buy it instead.
High Quality. Made in Canada. It's design is squat, thus very stable and takes up minimal space. Enough capacity for Diesel fuel to add another 100km in range. I have owned a Scepter 5 litre Plastic Fuel Can (made in Canada) for Mower fuel, for 27 years, without any problems. That's why I recently bought this Scepter 10 litre Fuel Can from REPCO. Both are reliable brands. I have known for a long time that I can trust both brands for quality and service.
Excellent jerry can, just the right jape and not too bulky. Seals and pours well. Beware the spout is stowed inside the can. So on removing gloves need wearing because spout drenched in fuel.
This is pure junk - Do Not Buy!!It is made of the cheapest plastic possible. It will inflate and get so round in the summer heat (stored in a vented, insulated shed, out of the sun, on the floor at the coolest place) that it will not sit flat and it looks like it will explode.Since there is no vent cap, when you open the main nozzle, fuel is forced up the nozzle because it can't be depressurized before opening. Even when the can is only half full, it will send fuel spewing everywhere because the nozzle goes down quite a way in the tank. Of course, a half empty tank contains more air which needs to be vented. In this case, it not air, but fuel that is vented in large quantities to whatever is within 5 feet of the can. Then there is the cheap, ultra thin plastic ... MoreThis is pure junk - Do Not Buy!!It is made of the cheapest plastic possible. In this case, it not air, but fuel that is vented in large quantities to whatever is within 5 feet of the can. Then there is the cheap, ultra thin plastic nozzle - it is so thin that it cannot maintain a proper seal between the cap and can while pouring, as the nozzle base distorts with the slightest pressure. It is so bad that the nozzle actually pulled right out of the cap while I was pouring and trying to shift the can for a better grip (it is incredibly slow to pour, and I didn't let the full weight of the can rest on the nozzle). This caused fuel to spill everywhere on my shoes, in the lake, in the boat... See pic of base distortion and partially pulled out nozzle - note that I pulled it out from a tight cap, without much effort, for this review. The cheap, ultra thin nozzle - It will crack in the cold resulting in fuel everywhere again.Did I mention the cheap, ultra thin nozzle? - it will also kink (it is supposed to be able to flex slightly, which is why it has the accordion shape) at the slightest movement, which cuts of the fuel and air flow to an already painfully slow pour rate. See pics of kink and ultra small air vent.If you want to protect the environment, save your clothing, your driveway, whatever and where ever you put gas in really, plus save yourself a bundle in fuel bills, Do Not Buy This Garbage!!p.s. all the plastic gas, diesel and kerosene cans sold at CT are of the same cheap design. Buyer beware.p.p.s. This is not a "lemon" or unlucky buy - I have friends with the same gas cans and they all have the same problems. This is not a revenge review because I'm upset at having bought garbage, it is honest and I have put considerable effort into this review to help you.
Perfect little jerry can! Allows you to transport 10litres if extra fuel around incase you run out. This little unit here saved us from getting a tow truck because we had run out of fuel just had to fill it up with gasoline and then pour it into our gas tank. Wonderful container.
