As others have said, this is probably the best GF loaf available at Asda…it’s tasty, and comes close to the doughy texture of real bread, so you can actually enjoy it as a sandwich and not need to toast (like most of the unpleasant, grainy alternatives). However, the packaging is ridiculous - too much plastic around a tiny loaf - it’s expensive too!

I was keen to try this product as I enjoy the Schar gluten free brown rolls. I was appalled to find that the product delivered was smothered in blue mould - there was hardly any brown loaf to be seen. The packaging was intact and the best before date was months away (19/10/21), so I cannot understand how it came to me in such a disgraceful state. It has made me very wary of their other products, although the rolls I had in my cupboard look okay.

I have started eating GF food and was thinking I may miss bread but wow! The Schar loaves are so tasty. I actually prefer them to standard wheat bread. I have no need to go back to wheat now. Yes the slices are small and you are paying more but I am happy.

Schar gluten free is my favourite gluten free bread this one and the seeded one. I have tried and tested them all. This is my preferred brand just wish it wasn't so expensive and so small!! Why don't they make their gluten free bread normal size!! Saying that I just have to have it. I don't feel deprived at all eating this gluten free bread. My husband who's not celiac loves this bread too.......I keep telling him not to eat it as its too expensive for him when he can eat normal bread!!lol
This ruined other GF off-the-shelf breads for me. It's soft, not dry, not too sweet. The other Schar loaves are also nice, but this one's the best! It's more versatile than the brown bread and tastier than the white, comparable to the seeded. It's good as is, but it also freezes and toasts very well.If you haven't had Schar bread before, PSA: any inner bread (i.e. not crust) will get stale overnight if exposed to the air. All you need to do is make sure the end/crust pieces are pressed against the inner loaf to cover them up and block airflow. Et voila, soft bread, ready for sarnies! I find it keeps best in the fridge.Apart from that, the only con of this bread is how much plastic packaging is had.
I can't believe I haven't tried this before now having been gluten free for 12 years. I just assumed all gluten free bread was horrible, based on the ones I'd tried, but this is amazing! It's lovely and soft for a sandwich and toasts really well, I haven't eaten so much toast in years. This is a firm favourite now and I'm so glad I've found it and can eat bread again.
I have been very happy with this bread as someone with coeliac disease. So many GF breads are stuffed full of things you've never heard of, but I chose this based on the relatively small list. It has a pleasant taste and texture. I also have GF bread on prescription, but it is truly terrible and gives me more stomach problems. I have now decided I would rather pay for this and feel well. The seeds give it more texture and added digestibility, which is very welcome!
Many GF breads have to be toasted to avoid the cardboard like flavour and texture, but this bread can be simply eaten as it comes. It's soft, delicious and actually resembles normal bread in texture. I used to purchase M&S GF oat loaf but has swapped to this, even if it's a tad more expensive.
I love this bread - even better than any wheat based ones I used to have. Delicious, malty, almost treacly, it is packed with good ingredients and tastes delicious. I now put it in the freezer as it's small and expensive but very much worth the treat.
This bread is lovely but beware a small number of people cannot tolerate sourdough. I only had two slices and had stomach problems for a few days, it keeps fermenting in the gut. If you can take it thats great but try a small amount first. I threw away two loaves which was expensive
