Schecter Omen Extreme-6 Gloss Natural

I've had this guitar for awhile now and I enjoy it every day. I take my playing seriously and I'm also a set up obsessive compulsive player. I want my intonation perfect at all times action high enough for sustain etc. This guitar really feels and plays great which is why I use it more than my more expensive 7 string LTD with fishman fluence pups. The omen is just a great guitar for improving your playing. What I mean by that is that everything feels and plays nice so your spending more time just practicing and playing rather than fiddling. I fond the pups to be good but they can go south real quick with a bad set up. They are the kind of pups that will give you goosebumps from time to time and really allows you to feel the notes. They aren't the best pups ever mind you but time and time again I opt out of replacing them cause they really aren't in need of replacing. I will say I have changed all the electronics and pots/three way switch with more solid components which makes a world of difference. Good quality electronic components are crazy cheap but make a world of difference in the quality and reliability of your tone. Guitars at this price point normally have pots that cost pennies and they do "work" but this guitar plays so nice that it's just such a shame to have super cheap components taking away from its total potential. Anyways, I really love this guitar and I will probably never part ways with it. It does what it does well. Even the coil split sounds good but it will sound like less output than dedicated singles. I don't know what else to say other than this really is a great deal as is. If I could change anything about it I would say put components with a little more quality in it and change the name EXTREAME to something less silly. I love this guitar and when people play it they love it but if I say it's an omen "extreame" it just kills it for people and they have a hard time taking it seriously until they play one.

I purchased this guitar right after spending a load on a Gibson '59 reissue LP. I wish I had bought this first. The pickups are fine, but the control pocket has conductive paint, not copper foil. Post are 500K Alpha and has a polyester capacitor. The neck is thin and I have set the action very low with no fret buzz. Tusq nut and tuners that stay in tune. I cannot think of anything I dislike, there is just nothing to detract. Two-piece neck, but I like the added strength (which the Gibson lacks, if it falls over the headstock breaks easily) and the grain inline with the pull of the strings. The tuners allow straight pull on the strings (the LP does not and is a tuning problem) so no binding at the nut. The fit and finish is fabulous. The first time I strummed it, the sustain was VERY apparent. For a bolt on neck, that speaks to the fitting. Anyone would be proud to own and play this guitar. I have been playing for 51 years, been in a recording band and owned just about everything, but this inexpensive guitar is a real value and pleasure to play.

I understand why people call this a beginers guitar. Some the components are cheap and the guitar felt unfinishhed. I own 8 guitars. All of them are higher end Made in America guitars. This guitar caught my eye solely because of looks. I decided to purchase it as a project guitar. After receiving the guitar it needed to be properly set up. I straightened the neck, leveled and radiused the fret board, re-crownded the frets, filed the fret ends and rolled the edge on the neck binding. I proceded to replace the bridge with a Graph-Tech Resomax NV2, and the tuners with Schaller M6 ones. I replaced the tone capacitor with an Orange Drop NOS .027 UF.
