I liked the look of this deadbolt, I liked the speed as unlike others you don't sit listening to a motor slowly grind away moving the deadbolt. However, the mechanical design of these is terrible, I understand why they used a motor to turn a spring to engage the pin, but the spring wears out, and fails especially in cold weather. DO NOT use this deadbolt if you don't have a second access, it will fail and you'll have no way in. If it's cold and it fails, used a heat gun to cook the keypad, it gave the spring just enough life for me to unlock it for the last time I ever will. And this isn't after 15 years of use, its 3 years and I'm not home much so they get very little use, expect a year after install it will fail. I'm now throwing 2 in the garbage.

I installed my keyless BE357 during the summertime and loved it. Never had an issue. Now some cold weather rolled in and the keypad won’t work at all. Replaced batteries, still not working. Let it reach room temp, and it works again. Reinstalled it at room temp, was working. Shut door and tested it an hour later (it resides behind a storm door, so no direct wind or elements hitting it). Got below freezing and it stopped working. I’ve chatted with others with similar issues. It’s hit or miss with cold weather.

This is a good well made lock for those people who want electronic but not wi-fi based locks. I have had two of these for a year now and they still function as new. We just added two more to complete all outside doors. They are easy to program with your own code. Don't forget to remove the factory codes and to file away the programing code in case you need to reprogram in the future. I like that you can add a code for a repair person or temporary visitor and easily delete it when they leave.

The deadbolt slips when trying to lock or unlock. Many attempts and no luck. The unit is just over a year old. Bought it Jan of 2023. I have tried changing the battery, and still get the slipping. Leaves me to go through the garage to get in my house. Do not recommend this item or similar ones from Schlage to anyone.
I bought this keyless door lock after my previous ones had all failed. The issues with the fully motorized deadbolts is they require perfect alignment of the door and door frame with minimal interference. My doors have heavy weather stripping and the deadbolt is very tight in the door frame. The motorized versions had two issues. The first was battery drainage and the second was binding and getting locked out. This design solves my problems, the deadbolt is manual actuated. The keyless pad just locks the outside actuator so you can manually move the deadbolt. This works well for my situation and the battery life is great. Plus if the battery ever dies and you are locked out, you can place a 9v battery onto the terminal outside and still get the keypad to work. ... It stopped working after less than 4 months of use. Very disappointing since up until that point we were recommending it to everyone: it's easy to install, simple to use, completely keyless (which makes getting in and out of the house so much quicker), and since we're weirdos we love that it can't be controlled by an app that could fall out of use in the future. Our issue: We are unable to lock or unlock the deadbolt using the keypad; the battery is functioning (the green light is lighting and the keypad is still giving the same audio feedback) but putting in our door code to unlock doesn't drop the pins and the deadbolt just spins and spins, same for trying to lock it from the outside: pressing the Schlage button doesn't engage the deadbolt to lock into place and ... If so we'll be migrating to a different lock. The replacement is said to arrive in 7-10 business days.Again, up until it stopped working we loved it! But a lock needs to lock and unlock all of the time with no exceptions to be worth it. Other than it crapping out I would have given it 4/5 for quality and 5/5 for value. As it stands it's a 0 for both.
We installed two of these locks on the house. Within a year they both failed. The bolt would not turn. We had to leave a door unlocked because without a key backup, it was possible that we wouldn’t be able to get into the house. Schlage replaced them. We only installed one and put a keypad with key back up on the other door. Glad we did because after about a year the Schlage failed again.
I had this model of Schlage touch on my home for 7 years when it began to fail. The mechanism relies on a couple of cheap springs to allow the bolt to engage. Despite this I decided to purchase a replacement lock to keep things simple with the install. During the install, I attempted to bolt the front and rear of the lock to my door only to find out that the bolt holes were not tapped deep enough making it impossible to complete the installation. I returned the unit and went with another brand.
It worked well for a while but then something happened where the internal mechanism to engage the deadbolt stopped working. So now after you correctly enter the code on the keypad, the internal mechanism to engage the deadbolt so you can rotate to unlock it doesn't work. You can hear it trying to work, but it still doesn't engage. Tried to replace the 9V battery with no luck.
it's a nice looking keyless deadbolt and fairly easy to install. i've installed it for a couple weeks now and experienced no malfunctions.the only complaint i have is the strike plate that comes with the unit did not fit the hole in the doorframe. it's too big. Schlage should have provided different size strike plates. i had to buy one that fits the doorframe and toss away the provided one.the deadbolt does not automatically unlock once you entered the passcode. you'll have to turn the knob to unlock. to lock, you'll have to press the Schlage button then turn the knob.it only allowed me to code 4-digit passcode
