The metal finish feels durable as do the buttons; the numbers won't wear off.A brand-name, 9-volt battery was supplied and the instructions estimate 2-year life. An indicator flashes to signal the need for battery replacement which should take minutes using a screwdriver from the inside of the door. Codes are retained while the battery is replaced.Instructions were clear and there are programming videos on Youtube.I will buy again.

Great keyless entry option

I specifically wanted keyless entry for our door from the garage to the house that did not require wifi. This one does not require you do anything other than install it and program it, which is pretty easy. It uses a battery, but hopefully it will last quite a while. Just make sure you have a key somewhere in case the battery goes out. We were leaving the door unlocked for convenience and I feel much safer knowing it is now locked in case we forget to shut the garage door, which has happened.

Lock Replacement

I purchased 3-FE595 keyless locksets to replace 3-FE575s since their price was outstanding. It is great having the inside lever to disable the locking mechanism rather than having to insert the key on the outside below the keypad to do the same. Schlage makes a superior product and Build has what you need at a great price with outstanding customer service. I opened and chat to ask a couple of questions and the super knowledgeable lady was able to help me purchase the exact replacements I needed.

No problems with these locks!

This purchase was for a couple more, since I already have some in use. Build.com does a nice job of fitting the key number to match my existing ones. The batteries last a few years, and it's not too hard to replace the battery when needed.

Replacement after 33 yesrs!

Changing ALL of the door latches was a bit of an uphill challenge. We built our house in 1990 and had Schlage hardware. Over the years the metal looked worn and an upgrade was necessary. The black "handles" look so fresh and current on our existing doors. This is the first experience with keyless entry that is simple to use.

Third time's the charm?

This is the second such lock I've purchased, and the third one I've used. The first -- possibly a 1st-generation model -- had cracking on the buttons after a surprisingly short time. It was replaced -- for free! -- by Schlage. That one lasted for perhaps five years before it began to fail: it sometimes wouldn't unlock the door even after the correct code was used. Changing the battery did not solve the issue. So, this is the third one -- third time's the charm?

Use a key code for easy entry!

The coloring of the photo is not terribly accurate. The actual lock matches the other brand's nickel products. It is sturdy and easy to program. The inside of the lock can be switched to always be open, or to lock automatically when you leave. We placed a bolt on top of the keycode lock for additional protection. Programming was easy, and took us about 5 minutes to figure it out and complete. You can program a special code for your housekeeper or pet sitter, which is different than your own. [Rewarded Review] Our 3rd one

We have had 3 of the Schage key pad door knobs. They really last. We leave the new owners with the old ones and all the original hardware and paperwork. Of the last three , we like our current one the most as it also has a key for back up(we are bad about changing batteries till it's to late). The only down fall is if and when I change the code, I have to go online for the instructions again, but it's only a minor inconvenience and I'll deal with it for the quality and price point.

I purchased this lock to add security to my office to prevent unauthorized access. I was concerned that I would have to drill new holes in both the door and door jam. The installation was simple and quick even for a guy with two left thumbs! The most difficult part was removing the old door handle/lock that I was replacing. Total time to install was less than 10 minutes!

[Rewarded Review] Very Disappointed- Quality , Missing Parts

I bought this to replace older Schlage push button lock . It looks like the new one is so much cheaply made . It weighs much less and seems much less durable . It was also missing the key . I was on hold for 47 minutes with Schlage until i gave up , Store took it back , but that meant disassembling, driving to the store, and assembling. I hope this one lasts longer than the last one ! I am a retired designer / engineer .
