I like the lock quite a lot. The only reason I did not leave a 5-star review is that the backlight does not come on until after you touch the first number...which means that in the dark I cannot see the first number. More often than not, I have to reenter the code after the backlight illuminates the keypad. I have a different manufacturer lock (also digital) on my office. All I have to do is touch the keypad and the light comes on...and then I can enter the combination...which makes this much more functional in the dark. Other than this annoyance, I really like the lock. It feels like quality, as some great features in the app such as programable auto locking at specified times. Love this feature because 4 exterior doors, I do not have to go around locking everything - my wife enjoys knowing that when we go to bed, the house is on auto-lock. Also, the Schlage app was the easiest to set up and manage as compared to 2 other locks/apps we have tried.

They sent me out a temporary deadbolt lock that you have to use a key on while I sent the other Lock back after about 10 Emails back-and-forth with Schlage. They finally decided to send me a new Encode Lock without having to send the old one back. Why couldn’t this have been done after the second email? Needless to say I’m pretty skeptical about this new lock but when the weather warms up I will be installing it in my door.My husband who was a carpenter swore by Schlage stating that they were the best locks on the market so I was quite happy when I stayed at the Airbnb and she had a Schlage Lock and said she had never had any problems with it. On the other hand, have had nothing but problems with three Schlage locks. I’m very skeptical about moving forward, but I’m going to give it a try.

I have purchased this same lock twice! The first was in 2021 when we bought a motel and needed a way to allow the local volunteer fire department to have access to the ice machine without handing out a bunch of keys. We were worried about how it would hold up to the elements since we live on the coast in Texas and the salty air is harsh. It has held up better than our standard door knobs with keys! It has been 3 years now and still going strong, so much so that I bought a second one for my parents at Christmas! I am extremely impressed with the durability and I love the notifications it sends. The fact that we can program different codes so that we can track when the fire department comes in is a bonus!

[Rewarded Review] Great technology, excellent design
21 December 2023

We have had Schlage locks for 35 years and have always been very happy with the security and durability. I recently started to upgrade things in my house to Smart Home items and I was pleased to see the Camelot Encode product offered in this design (keypad and handle integrated together). We use this on the entry way from our garage to the house. It did not have a deadbolt, but it is nice with the auto lock and remote lock/unlock feature to allow guests and my tweens some independence. I especially love the Schlage Home App. It is so user-friendly and was extremely easy to pair my devices. Highly recommend this and the other Encode technology products. Thanks Schlage for the Encode technology! I love that I don’t need a hub like SmartThings.

[Rewarded Review] Install 3 of 4
7 September 2024

Install 3 of 4 went smooth and the first two from a hardware install perspective. However, this one for some reason didn't want to connect to wireless even tho the wireless AP was 10 feet away in this outbuilding. After playing around for over 20 min, I ended up finding maybe an undocumented feature to reset the unit. I ended up restarting my phone and reloaded the app. Next I pressed and held the connect button for just over 5 seconds and it appeared to have co.pletly reset the lock or the connection process. Then continued on after the lock connected to my phone to connect to wireless and then it worked flawlessly.... bonus.Overall. This lock took me about 45 min to install and configure. [Rewarded Review] Love this smart lock!
16 April 2024

I purchased the Schlage Encode Lever Smart Lock because of my past experience with Schlage locks. I installed it at our vacation home in minutes, replacing a regular (non-electronic) Schlage door lock. Attaching it to my wifi and Alexa also was a breeze. I even re-keyed the backup key lock cylinder to match the old door lock's key.Programming different key codes for my extended family members, and I am alerted to whomever (and whenever) is opening the lock. I haven't used a temporary code for workers/contractors yet, but that was a feature I liked about the smart lock, too. I would highly recommend this smart lock, and it's other Encode cousins to anyone who has a vacation home.

[Rewarded Review] Schlage smart WiFi locks are amazing!
8 August 2024

I have had coded locks for a long time, I have been upgrading all my locks to Schlage smart WiFi locks over the last several years. Installed my 5th one today and 6th one is going on tomorrow. The user friendly/keyless locks are the best, but the latest ones with WiFi are worth upgrading! Batteries are easier to change out, the app tells you the battery level, also a red indicator light lights up on keypad when batteries get low. I love that I can let a service person in with a two second add of a code that I can delete when they are done. I use them on all my apartments and don’t have to rekey with every turnover, just go on the app and delete old code and add new tenants preferred code!I am 63 yo woman and can change these out in about 20 minutes! [Rewarded Review] Super easy to install and operate sturdy
5 February 2024

I bought one to try out and once I played with it a bit. They're super easy to install and operate. Just remember to restore factory reset if you have trouble connecting the Wi-Fi. One either minor complaint the access keys for ce people to download the app and it makes for a confusing process for everyone involved. You cannot just share the code if you use the keys. The person has to activate it on the other side and there's an automated code generated. It's much preferable to create access codes yourself. I planned to sync with guesty app for our Airbnb down the road for more automated process. Batteries seem to be the last thing. Well. Very important to all your strike plates are where they need to be So the lock mechanism glides effortlessly.

We installed the Camelot Schlage with the digital entry code last week. Wow, what an upgrade. For the past 4 years we have had a competitors digital entry door knob but it always felt loose and would often have to “reconnect” to the battery system forcing us to put the code in multiple times while holding groceries etc. My teenagers literally broke the internal components when one on each side tried to open the door at the same time. Now enter the Schlage! Sturdy and beautiful! The buttons are the perfect amount of firm and cushioned. The lighted display is easy to read at night.
