Black tire

The price was better than all the Maxxis tires I looked at. Everyone seems to ride Maxxis these days. (By the way I used to really like Kenda Nevagals Pro tires.) Maxxis tires seem to be increasing their prices. Also, I wanted a 2.8 tire but they are approaching $100 for one tire. I bought a 2.6 because the price is more reasonable. The tire is a back tire. It seems fine. I would say that you will want to look at the different versions of this tire. I will only consider tube-less ready. I also like a soft compound rubber.

Excellent All-Round tyres, phenomenal value.

Great tread but terrible tubeless bead seal

Tried to see if they would let me return the tire because of it and this is what they said:"Hey Dustin, not too sure if this would be a warranty. The Schwalbe tire can be a bit hard to seal up may take a few days to seal fully. This is normal and is not considered a defect by the manufacture. Horrible waste of money. At least for the northeast.

Can't really rate them lower than 3 stars because they're so cheap, but they suck. I had high hopes for them, but can't find a terrain they're good on. Plusses- they roll fast, and they're light. That's it. Cons- pain to seat tubeless, rode horrible with or without tubes. Grabby and unpredictable on tight hardpack. Never know when they'll catastrophically let loose. Slip badly on dry rock, wet rock, roots, mud, and anything else. Dusty hardpack even makes me nervous. The ride is decent at 20-25 psi, sucks above 30, but at pressures in the 20s they roll badly on my narrow rims and burp in rocks. They're narrow, didn't expect them to fold like that. Incredible grip

These are the stock tires on my new Intense Spider. I've ridden a LOT of tires in the last twenty years, and this is one of the most impressive I've encountered. Rails through corners, climbs superbly, and very light for an aggressive tire. For a trail bike, they are close to perfect. Completely disagree with the previous poster about difficulty mounting - they came with tubes installed on my Spider, and after deciding to continue with them, I converted them to tubeless. Not only didn't I need any wetting agent to seat the beads, these tires don't need any messy sealant, either. Easiest tubeless conversion in history, and saved a 1/4 pound of rotational weight in sealant, too.I do agree that they are very expensive, if you are buying them aftermarket. Light, expensive and poor durability
12 April 2017

I strongly recommend you buy a different tire. This tire came on my Ghost that I bought a year ago and is on many other bikes sold in the last few years. It has average grip and it is one of the lightest tires on the market. This light weight can easily shed a pound off your bike, which is very impressive. The trouble is that the rubber is not nearly as durable as other tires and it has very thin lightweight sidewalls that are very prone to scuffing and tearing. These tires just don't last. It is very difficult to mount properly on most rims. I lubricate them with hand sanitizer to get them to seat properly on Bontrager, Easton or Shimano rims. Worst of all, it is one of the most expensive tires on the market and tires that are far less money have the same or better ... MoreI strongly recommend you buy a different tire. The only edge these have is weight, and it is not worth it except for a few riders.

Not able to set up tubeless
7 February 2018

Supposedly these are "tubeless ready" but they are too loose on my 29" rims! So I, and then in frustration my bike store team of professionals were ALL unable to set them up as tubeless! Nobody could establish an airtight seal with these tyres in order to inflate them. I ended up having to insert a tube to each tyre which kind of defeats the whole reason for buying tubeless! Nett result was a wasted trip to the bike store, and wasted tubeless sealant and wasted money! If you want to use tubes, buy these tyres for their grip and long service life. But if you want tubeless tyres, don't buy these tyres!

Old-Gen w/PaceStar compound has porous sidewalls, leaks sealant
22 June 2017

I was one of the guys who grabbed these at $9.99 each when the opportunity arose. The Old-Gen version of this tire w/PaceStar compound has very porous sidewalls and bad seams between the sidewall and tread. The beads seal fine and the tire inflates nicely with a floor pump. The tires rolled nice-and-fast before losing air (in less than 30 minutes) during a carefully planned (non-remote) So far, I've used 3x applications of sealant on one of them and 2x applications of sealant on the other. I know "Tubeless Ready" is not exactly UST, but, so far, I can't get these tires to the the point where I'd trust them to hold air.Time will tell whether I relegate them to a bike on which I run tubes, or give them away to someone who runs tubes.

Perfect to pair
2 May 2017

I run this as a rear tire with a magic mary or hans hampf up front and have been very happy with it.Riding style: AM (colorado mountain riding)Pros:- It has great lateral contact which gives a great deal of stopping power.- the side knobs and sipes hold tight in cornering. It's superior to many rear tires I've ridden and holds a true line.- there is no grip lost moving onto the cornering tred from the main beadCons:- Depending on the compound, it can wear quickly (I replace often... happily).- Has a higher rolling resistance (IMO) than the hans dampf and lacks some of the all round grip I prefer from a front tire

Super Sticky-Grippy in a wide range of conditions, but this tire excels in loose conditions like sand and mud.
5 January 2017

The strength of this tire is its ability to perform well in diverse conditions. I rde sand, clay, rock and muddy conditions with confidence on Nobby Nics in FL and NC. Central Fl can be especially sandy at times, yet this tire allows for tight cornering and better speed in loose trail conditions. Even with low to moderate air pressure I do not get tire roll/flex like I did with my prior tires, even weighing 200 pounds on an XL frame.Ultra easy tubeless mounting and sealing makes this a excellent all purpose tire. The tread pattern may be too aggressive for xc racers, or on primarily hard packed surfaces.I would recommend this tire to those that ride in different conditions, especially where added traction is your friend.
