My reason for 4 stars is only because I haven't used this particular line yet.Over the last 2 seasons I have changed everything over to Scientific . Love the way the lines cast and lay on the water

SA's coatings are the slickest in the industry and the durability can't be beat. tip sections remain floating longer than any other line I've tried over time. With good cleaning and care, this is a line that can endure a couple of seasons of frequent use. Big fan of SA products. I also like the way my rod casts with the MPX (5 1/2 weight) line. Loads and feels better while retaining delicate casts with drys and reach with weighted rigs. Excellent cast-ability and distance.

I recently purchased this line to go with my newest 5wt setup - a mystic reaper rod and lamson litespeed no. 2 reel. After a couple of times on the water with this line I can say that it casts better than any other line I've used on my other 5wt setups. I'm sure that has something to do with how the reaper loads but part of the rod loading so well is this 1/2 size larger line helping it to load. I know that 5wt line shouldn't feel heavy to begin with but this line has a very light feel compared to my other 5wt lines even though it is a 1/2 size bigger line. This line worked very well when making short (35 feet or less) casts with various nymphs and even shorter roll casts but performed equally as well when making longer casts to the top of some larger pools and to ... MoreI recently purchased this line to go with my newest 5wt setup - a mystic reaper rod and lamson litespeed no. 2 reel. I'm very happy with this fly line selection and it seems to load my Mystic Reaper fast action rod really well.

After just two months use the line snapped about 3/4 up the WF portion of the line. I’m a fan of Scientific Angler lines, and have purchased many and enjoyed fishing them with no problems other than normal wear. I was surprised and disappointed with this sudden catastrophic line failure after little use. I have contacted SA and hope they will be able to do something for me. If not for the line breaking I would rate this line five stars. Smooth casting and great distance.
Recently purchased Scientific Angler Mastery MPX Stealth WF 8wt F 225grs (1st 30’) fly line to go with my newly acquired 2022 Scott Flex 8wt 9ft 4pc fly rod. Scott recommended the MPX.The MPX performed as advertised and per Scott’s advise. Casts were smooth, tangle free, and went where pointed. The Scott Flex loaded the Line well and shot the Line very well. The line colors Amber and Willow are subdued, non-reflecting and eye appealing. Price for the Mastery MPX is in the right price range for me.The majority of my Fly Lines are Scientific Angler, no problems with them, so I stick with S.A. Made In America too!Rest assured that purchasing from MRFC is trouble free, easy, and customer oriented, even sent along a neat MRFC post-pad!
This line casted effortlessly on my NRX LP and made that rod even more fun to cast. Even used it on an old Redington Crosswater and it felt like a whole new rod that casted 10 times better. This line is a half size heavy and really likes fast action rods. I tried it on a slower action Lamiglas and I was not impressed. I prefer this taper over the old GPX taper. Feels like it loads a little better in my style of casting.
I just recently came across this line spooled up on my old Lamson Litespeed. I don't remember where or when I bought it but I recently took it out to the local casting pond with a few other reels which were all spooled up with 5 weight floating lines. I actually didn't even know what brand this line was but by the end of the afternoon all the other reels and lines were back in my bag and this line was the hands down winner by a huge margin. The slight texture feels pleasing when stripping, shooting line and hauling, the taper feels very clean and delicate but substantial (an unusual combination) and the line floats high on the water. One word that might describe casting with this line would be "effortless" as the line shot and turned over with greater speed and ... MoreI just recently came across this line spooled up on my old Lamson Litespeed. One word that might describe casting with this line would be "effortless" as the line shot and turned over with greater speed and distance than any of my other lines (some of which are very high end). I will say I also really like the drab olive gray color for stealth and fishhiness. Luckily the brand and model of this line was printed near the tip which I was able to read with a magnifier.
This is an update to my review “Line Broke” regarding my SA Mastery MPX that had broken after only a short time. I contacted SA about the issue, and they were great and replaced the line. I did have to send them the failed line, but they could not have been better in making it right. I continue to be a fan of SA products because they have out performed all other fly lines that I have used.
When I got my Ross Reel first set up at their old location, the guys at Trouts showed me the MPX. Not only is it a awesome price, it actually preformed better than expected. Very happy with my purchase, even set up my buddy's reel with it once his finally gave out.
This October I went to replace my old 8wt GPX line with some new stuff. I thought the GPX would be on the shelves like it always is but it's been replaced with this. I trust SA so I figured I'd give it a try. The line held up great fishing Wisconsin's Brule river for steelhead and did everything you would want it to: casting big nymph rigs, swinging wet flies and streamers and booming the occasional long cast. The biggest question I have regarding the MPX is it's durability. The GPX was always pretty durable but susceptible to some damage and nicks especially in the tip. Jury is still out on the MPX but it seems pretty similar to the GPX so far.
