There are two different vents (one on the top and one on the chin), both can be closed and opened with ease.7/10 Customization - There are also 6 different visors available for purchase after buying the helmet, I went with the Ruby Mirrored color one and I love it. The fit is perfect, especially when tweaking with the Airfit system. The interior fabric is plush, soft and smooth to the skin. When riding, the ventilation is ample (riding at 38C). What is impressive is how relatively quite it is compared to many i have used.FInally, the aerodynamics are splendid when at high speed runs.Very much recommended !!

This is not a deal breaker and I really do like the helmet very much but the racing vision problem is absolutely a deal nreaker for me and the helmet is going back. Super bummed that its not good for pinned throttle race tuck. IDK how #20 made it work if he did truly wear this exact design on track.

Could have been 5 stars if not for Quality and vents. Inspect thoroughly in and out.

This is my 3rd R1 carbon helmet, first one was a DOT version matte, then a DOT glossy and recently I bought the european ECE only version after finding out it was lighter (2.75 vs 3.15 medium) and the faceshield superior (race 2d and pinlock120)I can tell you all 3 helmets have had the same shortcomings.*Build quality* is all over the place, from dots in the clear coat to loose vents/ports. Example of this is top vent and rear spoiler come loose after a couple weeks. My last helmet also has a plastic stuck inside so i cant feel much ventilation from the bottom vent. Face shield is not a complete seal if you look through the top of the helmet you'll see a gap around the corners of face shield. While the helmet looks amazing in person the *design* choices are ... MoreThis is my 3rd R1 carbon helmet, first one was a DOT version matte, then a DOT glossy and recently I bought the european ECE only version after finding out it was lighter (2.75 vs 3.15 medium) and the faceshield superior (race 2d and pinlock120)I can tell you all 3 helmets have had the same shortcomings.*Build quality* is all over the place, from dots in the clear coat to loose vents/ports. Face shield is not a complete seal if you look through the top of the helmet you'll see a gap around the corners of face shield. While the helmet looks amazing in person the *design* choices are questionable for the vents. Top vent "catches" air when closed and that has made it loose. My very old r2000 haa the vents more flat/streamlined against the shell. The bottom chin vent is why too big and together with the face shield lock makes it for a tricky opening when riding with gloves. I didn't have this problem with my old r2000.Fit is tight for me as the helmet is slightly rounder than the r2000 and i used to wear a size L before. The first r1 i had (dot version matte) was L and that was too loose.on the sides for me. At first the M gave me headaches, i started breaking in the pads at home before using on the road and now the fit feels close to perfect IF only a little tight in forehead (i dont mind).I haven't crashed in the r1 carbon so I cant say anything except I'd expect the *protection* to be top notch since the regular r1 is used in moto gp by 3 riders and the S shell is FIM certified (this is the most extreme standard for a helmet, required for motogp)Now taking into account the S and M shell is the same I'd be pretty sure my lid would also pass the FIM testing. And that is good enough for me.Scorpion famous inflation system is of the best *features* and it works very well, but being with how tight it fits i haven't felt the need to use it that much. My very old r2000 still works so I'd expect the r1 inflation system to last a long time (have had the r2000 since 2018). I also like that the cheek pads and neck liner are 1 unit, and it has a veey small opening (its elastic so veey stretchy, easy to put on) and it seals against wind very well.*Comfort* is as expected from Scorpion, pads feel very soft and with how light the lid is, paired with how easy it cuts through wind when moving around on bike, it feels as if youre wearing nothing. Be mindful that in the chin area my mouth almost touches the inside, there's no space in that area whatsoever.Although *noise levels* are loud (same as r2000 in my opinion) I always wear 3m foam earplugs and I would strongly advise you do the same. My first 3months riding I didn't wear earplugs and now i have permanent hearing damage (hear less, people have to talk louder for me to hear, permanent ringing {tinnitus} in ears) and Im only 25. Though speed makes a difference because of wind noise (I cruise around 160kph-100mph most of the time, frequently do above 240kph-150mph).Lastly one of my favorite things is the *Vision* range on this is stellar. I can tuck fully (yamaha r6, r1 or zx10rr) and still have plenty of vision ahead. Peripheral vision is also crazy good i dont have to turn my head as much to change lanes. I'd like to mention the US DOT version comes with a curved faceshield which is thinner and pinlock ports are smaller, while the EU ECE only version comes with a flat 2d shield and the pinlock inserts are way bigger, they dont interfere with vision. Pinlock is great at preventing fogging. Installation was kind of sketchy, take it slow and watch videos on how to. DON'T TOUCH THE INNER SIDE OF INSERT. The inside part of the plastic is extremely fragile, I scratched mine trying to lightly clean smudges from my hand.Overall is a badass helmet, looks amazing, a lot of good points if not for subpar quality and questionable vent design. Also worth nothing US DOT version lose the benefit of carbon fiber shell (regular r1 DOT weights around 3.3lbs while carbon r1 DOT still weights 3.15 lbs in medium). This is my opinion:If looks alone aren't enough for you, I'd get the regular one for a better bang for the buck.

Great 1st helmet
10 July 2023

This is my very first helmet ever and even though I've had the chance to try other helmets as a "backpack" rider, I am very happy with the product. The helmet comes with two visors (a clear and a smoky one): they're super easy to switch and the pinlock is already installed on the clear visor. The visibility is very wide, the system to open and close the visor is simple and it holds pretty well in place if you'd decide to ride in the city with the visor open. The red button that's inside the helmet allows you to pump air into the cheek pads so the helmet is tighter to the face: It works to a certain point but whenever I get on the highway it sometime isn't tight enough and the helmet is pressing against my face which hurts my nose after long rides. This is probably the only "negative" aspect of this helmet. The airflow is amazing: I never felt like my head was sweating nor was too cold. The wind noise is present but it isn't "annoying" nor too loud. I can easily hear the noise of my motorcycle and what's happening around me without finding it uncomfortable. Whenever I listen to music, I don't have to blast it so I can hear it and that's something that was important for me.Otherwise, the size is very accurate, there is no pressure points, I can ride with it for hours and it doesn't feel heavy on my neck nor on my shoulders. The cheek pads are easy to take off and wash. The little trap for the airflow on top of the helmet is very useful, the only comment I'd have to make about it is don't press on it too hard because it's really fragile (I broke mine by trying to clean the inside of it that was full of little flies).I am very glad and satisfied with this helmet, the price is more than worth it and if I had to buy it again, I would !

Great helmet with great features

Overall I'm really happy with this purchase. I come from using a Large Icon Alliance and Airmada. Both fit me perfect but I have had to try on 14 helmets to find a replacement that fits. I'm 50CM and intermediate oval for my measurements.I purchased the white version of this helmet. It gets dirty VERY easily but also cleans up easily so not that big of a deal. Helmet is snug but not too tight. I don't have to use the air bladder to make it tighter. It's about as quite as any helmet I've worn but I wear ear plugs and have a wind screen so I'm in a pretty quiet bubble as is. Vents are great, weight is nice, and it comes with a smoke shield which I wasn't anticipating. Pretty great deal for having a ton of features of the $550 Shoei helmets. I love this helmet

Coming from an already light helmet, HJC RPHA 11, I was shocked how impossibly light this helmet is. Barely feel the weight of this helmet on your head.I find this helmet more stable at high speeds and stable when shoulder checking which is a big bonus for me and something I disliked with my RPHA. However I do find this helmet a lot noisier than the RPHA. I normally wear ear plugs when riding but I tried this without them and it was way louder than I expected. The field of view is incredible. It's a very wide eye port and you're able to retain a lot of your peripheral vision as a result.Great airflow, the vents allow a generous amount of air to keep you comfortable in the helmet as well as the first detent is solid enough to ride with the visor cracked open on ... MoreComing from an already light helmet, HJC RPHA 11, I was shocked how impossibly light this helmet is. The air inflation cheek pads are a neat addition and all you to snug up the helmet even further, especially as the cheek pads break in.Very generous speaker pockets that made installing my Cardo Packtalk bold a breeze. The retention clips negated the need to use the velcro to hold the speakers in the ear pockets and they are recessed far enough that the speakers are flush with the EPS.The helmet bag, extra visor and visor bag are of good quality and nice that they come with the helmet at this price point. The visor change system leaves something to be desired. Definitely not as user friendly or as quick as the HJC system. I'm always worried I'm going to snap one of the tabs when swapping visors. Nice touch coming with the pinlock insert as well. The carbon finish is top notch, no visible defects in the weave, uniform across the helmet and looks incredible.

Great looking helmet, scary punisher looking from the front and people love it and drivers notice it. I don't like the view when tucked and I went based off their size chart and went with a medium. Got it shipped from Vegas location and it came with pillock installed on the clear visor? wtf? I called customer service and they credited me 55$ so I went to cycle gear and bought a mirror anti fog shield but it sucks and fogs up. After a few times of wearing the helmet feels loose on my head like a 2 year old helmet might feel so im bummed. If your order is coming from Vegas location make sure to double check your product. it gets hot in this helmet as well btw I wish it had better aero/ vision tucked and some damn transitions face shield options.

Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon Helmet

I love this helmet and have ridden about 1000 miles in it so far. I do a lot of riding during the early morning dark hours. I ride a naked street bile with no windscreen.A couple of things kept me from giving it all five stars:1. The wind noise is actually pretty substantial. Almost a bit of a whistle with the face shield locked down and sealed. The peculiar thing about the sound is that it seems to only effect my right ear. Overall, this helmet cuts down on wind noise substantially compared to my last (less fancy) helmet.2. Riding at night, the face shield gives off a reflection on the inside of the shield. Again, at night... while in a tucked position, looking through the top edge of the face shield, my view is somewhat doubled. I don't experience any of the vision issues during normal daylight riding.Overall, this is a nice helmet. It look great, is very comfortable, and I feel very safe wearing it. The helmet has adequate ventilation and is super light.9.5/10. Would recommend.

I have had this helmet for just over a month. I will tell you now, the quality isnt great. Its loud. Really loud. I have an SC Prioject exhaust and its beyond annoying with this helmet. Its got a lot of wind noise, and the seals for the visor aren?t flush so anytime i look down, i get a huge rush of air and wind inside the helmet. Its whistles at speeds over 100.
