Follow the directions and it will work as promised. Do not use it inside the house. The vapors are toxic and strong. I used it on a hat and tested it by placing under running water. The finish repelled the water. I have not field tested the hat for stain and dirt resistance. This is my first time using this new formula. I had great results with the prior formulations.

Buyer Beware. NOT a stain blocker like old one

This product is not the same as the "old" Fabric Protector that repels liquids and blocks stains. The good ("old") can had about 2inches of white background at the bottom. This new can has a solid red background and is more of a "Fabric Water Shield" as it states in the title. I have tried to use this new product since I could not find the "old" one. It does not work for me, as I need the stain blocker for my sons baseball uniforms. This formula does NOT repel grass stains and/or dirt stains, AND unfortunately CREATES yellowish stains on the white uniforms. NOT HAPPY !!!! Hopefully I can find the old formula somewhere

I ordered a couch a 2 cans of scotch guard. I get one piece of a couch (no scotch guard. I cancel the couch, and the scotch guard. The next day 2 big boxes are dropped on my porch. I cancel my whole order again. I talked to Lee, Josephine, Josey, Michael and Syeed“8” days later and still waiting for someone to remove their junk off my property. I get a pkg. Scotch guard I’m thinking unless they are sending me a very small couch

It works. Spray your items outside!

I’ve used scotchguard for years to protect furniture, bags and shoes. ** I highly recommend NOT spraying furniture inside your house.** Common sense dictates that you don’t want overspray on any other surfaces. When I’ve sprayed my couch, I remove the cushions and spray them outside. I take chairs outside to spray. I also use a towel or old sheet underneath whatever I’m spraying. Yes it has a smell because it’s a chemical. The smell goes away eventually. This stuff works and it’s worth the trouble to me.

What happened to the "Fabric Protector" spray that actually worked to repel liquids?? This stuff is absolute trash; it does not work to repel water at all!!I gave three test strips, (each a different style of upholstery fabric, all stated as types this product should be effective for) 3-4 coats (half-hour between each coat) and let them dry in my office (heated/well ventilated) overnight. Today, all three are EXTREMELY absorbant... [Rewarded Review] Works Well on Outdoor cushions!

I used Scotchgard™ Fabric Water Shield on my outdoor cushions to give them some extra protection from the daily Florida downpours wearing them down fast. The water shield smells awful putting it on. It’s definitely not something I would ever want to use in a small or in-closed space. That being said - it did air out and not smell anymore on the fabric after a couple of days. I let the cushions completely dry before putting them back where the elements could affect them. After a good hard rain, I checked them and instead of being Super saturated like usual, they had water droplets sitting on top that could easily be wiped away and barely any water saturation at all. I did two cushions very thoroughly with one can. I feel like this is similar to the tent waterproofing I did many years ago. With that, I had to re-apply the waterproof each season. I think it will be the same for the Scotchgard™ Fabric Water Shield. Overall, I do recommend this product. Instead of replacing cushions that have been worn down by saturation more often, this should help keep them in better shape for longer. I give it 4 out of 5 stars because the smell when spraying it on was horrible. I can’t imagine how bad it would be in a small space or inside and that should be something to take into serious account when using it. I wish I read the reviews before buying. i bought two cans of this poison to protect a brand new sectional sofa. The can says odorless when dry. Followed the directions as stated. Went with two light one pass sprayings as the can recommended and waited between sprayings to dry. Its been over 12 hours and my house still smells like paint thinner. To make matters worse, the product did absolutely nothing to repel water as I did a test spill and it soaked right through. Complete waste of money and now a brand new couch ruined because it smells like paint thinner. And then I see all these reviews about the smell and the generic copy paste response from scotchgard.
