I bought this to grow tomatoes in my apartment. Brand new pot, brand new potting mix and tomato seeds. After 2 weeks the seedling was failing and I didnt know why, after 3 weeks the infestation of tiny bugs was evident. This obviously came from the soil. Extremely disappointing, I would've been better off grabbing a handful of soil from a gutter, I can't imagine it could've been worse than this "premium" soil mix.

I bought this from my local bunnings a few weeks ago. Opened up the bag, and it's full of fibrous, uncomposted material and a bit of bark, with bits of plastic string and some grey hairs (!?) for good measure. Minimal soil, sand or fertiliser. Not suitable for planting.If you really want to buy this brand anyway, be aware that you'll need to compost it before use and be prepared to tolerate the contaminants.Personally, I'll be looking elsewhere.Such a shame, used to be good.

I bought this last weekend. When I opened it it smelled like the local tip. Inside were large pieces of wood, bigger than in the bag of pine bark mulch I bought at the same time and it had the same consistency as eucymulch. I found a rock as big as an apple and what looked liked finely shredded red plastic. There were uncomposted plant roots. Plant roots can give toxins to prevent other plants growing in the same area. I was going to use this to plant a nice lime tree in a pot but I just chucked it on a back garden bed and went to a nursery to buy real potting mix instead because I was worries this would kill my plants.

I have bought this product for decades for my parents' garden when I took it over and for my garden. Over the last 12 months or so it has deteriorated significantly. It is moisture repellent from the start, mainly composed of what the company tell me is 'expanded wood fibre', infested with fungus gnats and after a short while in the pot, it hardens and shrinks, exacerbating the issue of hydrophobia. The issue is clearly quality control with contents in the bag being insufficiently composted. This product has obviously changed significantly. After years of it being a good product, my plants have been stunted, the material does not wet properly and I am very disappointed after a large investment of 20 bags. Bunnings need to be aware of this change and look for new products. This is DEFINITELY NO LONGER a PREMIUM potting mix. Very unhappy with this purchase. I deliberately changed brands and bought the Plus product as I have had drainage issues with other brands and this was recommended as the best option. My pack was FULL of fungus gnat eggs which I only discovered upon checking the bag after three of my houseplants began to die. The bag was absolutely full of gnats. Not only that but even after mixing with perlite the mix stayed very damp and produced a rotting moldy smell which filled the room. Very disappointing!
have ordered a lot of this potting mix online and always get them delivered in a quick and speedy manner. I always see a difference in my plants when i use it and their leaves seem to perk up almost straight away after repotting. It's well-priced so my plants have never had to suffer the indignity of being potted into an unbalanced soil mix without nutrients. I love this product and highly recommend it. It delivers everything it offers in writting on the back of its packaging.

When new stocks came in the mix was completely different and really really bad. I tried a few different lots from my various local Bunnings (Narre Warren, Clyde and and doveton) over the last 6 months ever hopeful that I had just been unlucky, but they were CONSISTENTLY TERRIBLE. Moisture retention is non existent, except for where the mix quickly compacts at the bottom of the pot and water pools. The mix, which is stringy and dry contains an unforgivable amount of plastic debris, and large chunks had stuck together white white mould. Loads of gnats after a day or two. "Premium Plus" this product ain't. More like "Ordinary at best". It's classed incorrectly as a potting mix as it's too coarse. It should be stocked in the mulch section, really. The plants in pots where I've used this haven't thrived even though this is supposed to have all the bells and whistles. I've only had issues. Symptoms of using this potting mix include stunted roots, yellowing leaves and lacklustre growth that makes plants more susceptible to pests and diseases. Other potting mixes have not caused quite so many problems, if at all. My recent purchase was an exercise in wishful thinking. In any case, I have some expensive mulch which won't cause any problems in garden beds. That's what the extra star is for as thankfully it's not a complete waste.
Decided to try this premium product and not purchase a rival brand of premium mix, Was very unhappy from the start. Seeds refused to germinate, because mix was so woody and full of woodchip. I look at plants that I used it for and notice lack of results. I dont know how to add photos that I took. Bags were bought from Bunnings Maroochydore. Certainly wont be buying again.
