If you are a small scale sculptor without access to a kiln and limited workspace, you can't do better than Original Sculpey. Since it doesn't dry, you can easily go back and make changes before baking without worrying if it is "too late". Almost any paint adheres to Sculpey's baked surface. Also, shrinking is minimal so you know exactly what is going to come out of the oven. I'll never go back to traditional clay.

This is my first time using this clay and after doing some research it seems like this clay is very popular and chosen often. Overall it’s super easy to work with. After some kneading it becomes soft and is easy to use. It was hard for me to tell if the clay was baked properly but I have not had any issues with cracking. I’d recommend for anyone inspired to make some clay figures or jewelry dishes to give this a try!

I found this clay tucked away in my drawer. I wanted to sculpt more 3D jewelry elements and thought 'if it didn't work out, oh well'. I was pleasantly surprised at how well I was able to work with this material. No pasta machine needed, sculpted well, baked hard, sanded easily for refinement. It was then covered with veneers using Premo. This combination worked very well for me!!

This product is great anyone, even someone who has never worked with clay before can make cute little sculptures. It’s inexpensive enough to keep working with it until you get better and better. Make anything from Christmas ornaments, to birthday cake toppers, the ideas are practically endless. Have fun with it and surprise someone you love with an unexpected happy!
I have been using the Original Sculpey for over a year now for Christmas ornaments, miniatures and jewelry. I very much like that it can be formed into anything that I can imagine, painted, tinted...anything that works with polymer. I also have a granddaughter, age 11, who has started making items with the Polymer Clay. It's easy on the hands, too!
Sculpey Oven Bake Clay is perfect for my project of making Ornaments. The clay is easy to work with and doesn't require much softening. I have been purchasing this for the last few years and pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend this clay for anyone wanting it for certain projects. Michaels has the greatest prices and it usually is in stock, even during the Holidays.
Texture and flexibility during manipulation of project is convenient and possibilities endless. An extra advantage is the ability to add colors over the existing dry arrangements which allows for enhancement in spectrum and variety. I highly recommend Sculpey because it fulfills it's promise.
Beautiful color and great value! Does become very sticky once warm, and hand oils, even with repeated scrubbing, discolor it. Great for inside layers of sculpture to add bulk, but not the best for exterior layers. Paints beautifully once baked, though!
Of course this is the best material in the school clay world. It's great to mold with after warming the clay up in your hands. It stays permanently great after it bakes. Just have to tell my students to handle it gently because they can be rough with their work. I just wish that the supply was consistent. I scoured the ends of the world to find this clay in classroom pack size. It's a bit pricey but darn it, it's good clay. I keep a toaster oven in my classroom and use that to bake my students clay projects.
It’s soft and pliable. Easy to roll and mold. Stays moist and workable until you’re ready to bake in your oven. Sand it, paint it or stain it. Or simply leave it natural.
