Used with my women's 20F down sleeping bag. I've been using this stuff sack for almost a year with 0 issues. Great for backpacking, easy to stuff, easy to unpack, super lightweight. Not waterproof, but I personally do not find a waterproof stuff sack to be necessary so long as you have a good backpack rain cover.

Starting out backpacking. Prioritized a new pack rei staff recommended and love it. but needed to use handmedown sleeping bag and tent. Compression bags for each let me fit old tech into pack as effectively as I could imagine. Very smart and these bags were impressive. Thought I could rip them but was wrong.

I bought 3 different sizes of these stuff sacks for my soft luggage I use for motorcycle travel/camping and within the 1st three trips, all of them have small tears in them. These are not durable enough, in my opinion. I have Granit Gear stuff sacks I have owned for almost 15 years and they are still perfectly intact. These are not worth your dollars, in my opinion.

I used these for a car camping trip for 4 days. Family of 3, we pack plenty of of blankets, sleeping bags, and actual pillows; we like to be comfortable. Now we don’t own a down filled sleeping bag, (wish we had) so our synthetic bag packed into one of these didn’t really work, pretty much the same size. So this worked really well for our bedsheets and pillows. One of these packed about 3 synthetic pillows, and it compressed really well pretty much into the size of one pillow. I used 30L, I’m on the hunt for something bigger.
I love these things– this is my third one! When first looking for a compression sack for my sleep system I tried this and an Osprey Straightjacket bag. I can see where the Osprey shape would be preferable in a small suitcase or something where you have limited vertical stacking space, but the REI bag is much, much more compressive and works well in soft bags (like a duffle). You can really cinch things down with the four straps and I've found the material to be durable. I used the 15L version on a cross-country bike ride to store my 50 degree sleeping bag, a travel sheet, and my Nemo Fillo. It all fit and compressed down several inches, and even better the bag showed no signs of wear and tear after packing it full and cinching it down tight 70 days in a row. These are great to add another layer of security in your back pack as you travel or as a laundry stuff sack. I have a couple of these in my travel kit's. I have a patagonia 14L I carry on planes and inside it I have one of these stuffed with my have to have items. In case someone opens my backpack they have to go through another opening to get to stuff. I have a second one in my suite case use to store used laundry. Light, durable. Must have for constant travelers.
This review is for the 14L, Medium compression sack.I decided to buy a compression sack after using one with a rented -15 degree Celsius bag, and being amazed at how much it shrunk that monster down.Weight: 5 oz compared to 1 oz for a typical sleeping bag stuff sack. I would have preferred not having the waterproof lining. Would have saved a few ounces and I don't need it because I use an overal waterproofing sack for my backpack.Compression:1) took my 40-degree Kelty bag from 10.5"H x 7.5"W (464 cu in) to 6"H x 8.5"W (340 cu in).2) took my 20-degree REI lumen bag from 15"H x 7"W (577 cu in) to 8"H x 9"W (509 cu in).Compression achieved by kneeling on the sack as I repeatedly turned it and tightened the straps. As you go make sure to slide a finger under the crescent shaped edges to keep them from digging into the bag. Conclusions:Is the extra 4 oz worth it? It depends. The sack was much more effective at volume reduction on the Kelty bag. It reduced the volume of the warmer REI bag only slightly, but it did change the shape from tall and narrow to short and squat. This may be useful depending on the shape of the space allocated for a sleeping bag in your backpack.
The 20L compression sack capable of reducing the bulk of your clothing, most 3 season sleeping bags and tents. The stiching around the seams and the straps is nice and tight to provide the durability needed to handle the compression pressure in a lightweight sack. This compression sack is not designed to be waterproof, merely water resistent and it has preformed very well protecting my clothing from condesation on a recent backcountry snowshoe trip. I plan on purchacing smaller variations for my bikepacking adventures.
Lightweight Stuff Sack is handy. Fabric is thin and light, but not durable. The nylon webbing strap on the bottom of the sack tore off the first time I used the sack. That's OK, the sack still works without the strap. I use this 15 Liter Stuff Sack to organize clothing when backpacking, and also use the Stuff Sack as a pillow (with some clothing stuffed inside it). This Lightweight Stuff Sack is not recommended as a sleeping bag stuff sack because the fabric is not strong enough, and because it does not have a fabric circle by the drawstring to close the bag tightly.
Was traveling for business from Texas and needed a stuff sack to save space in my luggage. REI always has the solution to fix a problem and thank goodness there was one only a few miles from my hotel. Picked up just what I needed. This is why I have been a co-op member for nearly 20 years, they always seem to have great products for whatever activity, even if it is travel from halfway across the country.
