Sea to Summit Ether Light XT Extreme Sleeping Mat (Women's Regular)

Sea To Summit have taken their best selling mattress and increased the insulation for when the mercury drops. With an R-Value of over 6 and 10cm of thickness the EtherLight XT Extreme Air Mattress redefines lightweight sleeping comfort for winter explorations and adventures around the globe! Sea to Summit’s Air Sprung Cells are the reason they believe you will sleep better on their air mats. Each Air Sprung cell deforms independently and allows the mat to conform to your body shape. This provides support and comfort by more evenly dispersing pressure across the mats surface. For the extra thick (XT) Etherlight design, Sea To Summit use many TPU loops to connect the top and bottom fa bric layers to the air sprung cells dot weld pattern. These loops allow the top and bottom layers to be positioned further apart which creates larger pockets of air when inflated-perfect for side sleepers. This design also requires less fabric overall which means great stability and comfort for less weight. Dual density layers of Thermolite insulation fill the air sprung cells and work together to prevent convective heat transfer and boost warmth while remaining lightweight and packable. When the mercury drops, the Women’s Ether Light XT Extreme’s 6.3 ASTM R-Value will keep you cushioned and insulated from the cold hard lumps and bumps beneath.

Comfortable but BIG

This mat has been very comfortable and warm, particularly compared to the previous mat I used that was about half as thick. It is also quieter than my old mat (less scrunching noises when shifting around in the night). The only downside is that when it is packed away it is BIG. It is even larger than my sleeping bag when that is packed down, and it takes up a lot of space in my hiking pack. However, I still give it 5 stars as I think it is worth giving up the space in my pack to get a decent night of sleep.

I really wanted to love this women's sleeping pad because it has so many great things going for it: thick, super warm, easy to inflate/deflate, seemed have great reviews online and videos, but I could not get pass the crinkly noise it would make every time you moved. I set up my brand new Copper Spur HV UL3 in my living room and threw this pad inside. The noise was unbearable, so I added a thin sleeping pad under (one that the kids use on camping trips) thinking the hard vinyl floor was causing the noise. Nope, still noisy. Then, I added my new Big Agnes Tent Floor comforter as another barrier, thinking it would help. Nope, laughably noisy that I'm sure that I would wake myself up in the middle of the night as I am a light sleeper.I'm so bummed because I have ... MoreI really wanted to love this women's sleeping pad because it has so many great things going for it: thick, super warm, easy to inflate/deflate, seemed have great reviews online and videos, but I could not get pass the crinkly noise it would make every time you moved. Maybe, I'll try another S2S pad like the Comfort Plus. My goal is to be able to throw this pad into a suitcase since my old Thermarest MondoKing 4" is gigantic for airline travel.

This sleeping pad is quite a bit more bulky than the thermarest NeoAir Xtherm, but to me it's worth it as I can fill it with somewhat less air for comfort (less stiffness) and still sleep on my side comfortably (avoiding having my hip touching the ground through the sleeping pad). It also reaches a high R-value which is helpful for staying warm, and I have found that I've felt warmer using this sleeping pad than when using lower R-value sleeping pads. The air pump works really well, and the sleeping pad is very easy to fill with air and compress down again when done using it.

Great for the 2 uses I got before the slow leak
26 October 2022

As a side sleeper and a woman with wide hips I was excited for this sleeping pad to give me a little extra padding during the night. And it lived up to that expectation for the first 2 nights that I used it but developed a slow leak after that so, while on a trip, had to wake up in the middle of the night to reinflate. I don't believe that it was punctured as a result of the terrain where I set up camp. Disappointed because I really liked this pad up to that point. Also worthwhile to note that because it's a thicker pad it does take up quite a bit of space in your pack. That might seem obvious but it wasn't something that I had initially considered.

I have a R4.2 ultralight for bikepacking but needed a thicker alpine rated mat for Tasmania. Firstly I'm comparing with an ultralight and not a similar like for like. Bulk - I'm using this for hiking so bulk isn't as important than for bikepacking for me. I also don't stuff the mat but fold it to use as the padding of my frameless pack. I didn't find this bulky at all when used this way. Weight was not an issue either. Ease of set up - This was brilliant and quick using the blow up sack. I feel good knowing I'm blowing less moisture into the mat. Deflating and pushing out the air was very quick and easy. Comfort - Very thick but best not to inflate it completely, a bit less is more comfortable. Able to sleep on side well. In Shock

Perfection hands down. I did not expect to sleep so comfortably on any air mattress so I am still pleasantly surprised. It is well insulated and setting it up was so much easier with the air bag. I'm a side sleeper that sleeps like a fish out of water so obviously some compromises need to be made when making this type of purchase. I am not only impressed with the pad itself but the company as well. I messed up my shipping address and they still helped me get it in time for my final shake down. Even though it was my mistake they worked with me to quickly expedite my full order without making me feel bad for screwing up. Very grateful for such a positive experience so I will be purchasing as much of my replacement gear as I can right here!! Thank you!

Kept me warm
21 March 2023

I have used this on an overnight backpacking trip and a two-night kayaking trip on the Okefenokee. The temperatures range from 35 to 40 degrees f. I paired this with a 11 year old down sleeping bag with a EN women’s comfort ranging of 20 degrees. I worn fleece socks, long johns, fleece shirt, light pair of wool gloves, wool buff, and a fleece toboggan. I slept warm and comfortable all night long and I had no problems staying on the mattress.

S2S sleeping mat 10cm
18 April 2022

Wow, I don’t think you could get a better mat all things considered. S2S isn’t as compact as thermorest, but so much more affordable and probably durable. Also I would never go past the S2S flat 3 way valve system. Supreme comfort for a side sleeper, given the 10 cm thickness there’s plenty of variability for firmness options depending on your needs. Not nearly as noisy as some of the other S2S mats, which is a huge turn off. Pump system that come with mat works very well, 3 pumps does the job. Looking forward to going on some cold country hikes with new mat, but this mat can be used for all conditions even covered concrete floors, super versatile definitely worth the money.

Warm, no leak, slight crunch sound…
26 December 2021

I used this for 2 nights in the mid. 40’s at night while camping 2 nights and day hiking. It was very easy to blow up using the provided bag/air funnel type thing. I was able to easily let out a big of air because it was too firm at first. It stayed full of air with no leaks for 2 nights in a row. It was super easy to decompress and put it back in the stuff sack. I am a back sleeper and side sleeper. I think it worked out well enough. It has that slight crunchy sound while settling into my sleeping back or rolling over, but that is bearable if it keeps me warmer then other sleeping pads. I used to use 2 pads, now I can just use one, which will be easier when backpacking and wanting to carry less in my pack.

Warmer than expected
13 November 2022

I’ve used the extreme pad twice. I highly recommend it. The first weekend was on a trip where the low was 55 and the pad plus low temp sleeping bag combo made it unbearably hot, a problem I can easily fix with my lighter weight sleeping bag next summer. The second trip was after the weather turned and the low was 15, it was cold but I did fall asleep with an appropriate sleeping bag, thermal liner and this pad. I had such a good night sleep I decided to get the attached pillow for my next winter outing.
