Sea to Summit Ultralight Insulated Mat, Regular

The Air Sprung Cell design delivers stability and support, while our lamination and weld quality set a new standard for reliability. What's more, Thermolite and Exkin Platinum insulation deliver the warmth of an ASTM standard R-Value of 3.1 - just perfect for late spring through to early fall camping. FEATURES 3.1 R-Value is sufficient for late spring to early fall use. Exkin Platinum insulation reflects your radiant heat back to you, while Thermolite insulation prevents convective heat loss. Lighter, quieter and durable 30D/40D face fabric with Sea to Summit’s liquid-extruded lamination is extremely reliable. Quick and easy inflation, deflation and adjustment is made possible by our multi-function valve and supplied Airstream Pump/stuff sack. Anti-microbial treatment added to the TPU lamination formula prevents internal mold growth. PillowLock system prevents your Sea to Summit Aeros Pillow from slipping. Comes with a stuff sack which doubles as a pump, a repair kit with six self-adhesive patches and a spare valve insert. Airstream Pump/Stuff Sack can be used to inflate Aeros Pillows – turn the inflator bag inside out; the nozzle will fit the mini pillow valve.

I love Sea to Summit’s sleep system. I have their huge, insulated mat for winter. Amping and it is amazing. THIS mat is the best summer mat I’ve ever owned. Incredibly comfortable and light. Tough for its weight. Easy to pack. Works great with their sleeping bags and pillows. It is long, though. Make sure your tent is long enough! Mine is just so.Furthermore, it arrived in incredible speed. Altitude is on of their game. The price was fair (same as other retailers) and the availability was clear. Happy to be a customer.

We are currently using these pads in our hitchhiking round the world tour, they are very comfortable for sleeping and easy to inflate but after 2 years of travel, they start to have many holes in the middle of the "air sprung cells". In the beginning i though the holes came from some kind of thorn and i fixed them with the adhesive patches provided, but the pads kept deflating during the night. This morning i inflated my pad and filled the "inter cells" with water to see if any air bubbles would appear and i just found 5 more holes, always in the 'inter cell" parts of the pad so i am sure the holes are not from thorns but from a default of the fabric. I always find myself on the hard floor in the middle of the night. I could tell a difference
13 August 2022

Took this out on a 5 night backpacking trip. It was a really comfortable sleep (no aching hips the next morning) and it was a much quieter than my last air mattress. I’m 5’4” and I got the short mattress. I had plenty of room. I also noticed a difference in temperature. We backpack in the same park at the same time of year (lows in the 40s and 50s). I didn’t expect to notice a difference but this air mattress stayed a lot warmer than my previous mattress which made for a more comfortable nights sleep.

I really want to give this pad 5 stars.

I work and sleep outdoors and spend almost every night on the ground. Bikepacking and mountaineering is how i spend most of my outdoor recreation time. This is my second STSULI pad. The first lasted 91 consecutive nights before it started leaking at the welds. This is a sign of certain doom for an air pad. Previously, i owned rei brand mattresses. Durability is not a property of rei air mattresses, thus I was grateful for the positive qualities and 91 nights of durability of the STS mattress. I figured that i would just have to spend a few hundred dollars a year because mattress welds are dodgy. However, after the leaky STS pad, i bought another because the first was light, warm, easy to use, packs kinda small and it wasn't very noisy. I figured that i would just have to spend a few hundred dollars a year because mattress welds are dodgy. However, after the leaky STS pad, i bought another because the first was light, warm, easy to use, packs kinda small and it wasn't very noisy. I used it in the desert and in the Rockies and Sierras backcountry. To my surprise the new pad has lasted for 274 consecutive nights, SO FAR, and it has just begun to leak at the valve. The leak is minor. The provided spare valve doesn't fix the problem but I expect a few more weeks before it deflates to a point where i am touching the ground in the morning. As long as the welds hold I am completely happy with this mattress. So the new STSULI pad that i am about to buy will be the tie breaker for me and if it works as well as the one that i have now, I will come back and up the rating constellation to 5 stars. In the spirit of full disclousure, i note that the pad is noisy but that doesn't bother me at all. i think noise is an air mattress thing and others in my cohort all have noisy pads also..

Light and Warm: Exactly what I wanted
14 December 2021

I purchased this product for a trip to Alaska where I would be on the move daily and living out of a backpack for a week. For this reason I needed a sleeping pad that was light, comfortable, and decently warm. I have had good experiences with this company's products in the past and I decided to give it a shot. In the end, I did not regret this purchase.I found this product very light and compact and I think it performed as well as I expected. I did enjoy that it has an R-value of 3.1, which is pretty good for something that weight. I found that it did keep me warm at night when paired with a good sleeping bag, even in below freezing temperatures. This product is advertised as being perfect for spring or fall camping, and I agree! I also really enjoy the built in valve system and have found that there is minimal deflation that occurs at night. The only thing I really have a potentially negative comment on is the stuff sack which can be used to inflate the pad. It is a neat idea, but in practice I found it to be kinda silly. I found it much faster and had no issue inflating it by mouth.Overall, great product! I intend on taking this on camping trips year round.

Overpriced pool toy
8 July 2022

Overhyped. Very loud, pool toy like fabric. Dimples do nothing to increase comfort and are just a way to reduce weight from an otherwise heavy material. Heavier and less comfortable than expected. Limited packed size compression from included integrated stuff sack. Would not recommend for serious athletes/minimalists. 2 stars because there are no leaks yet.

Tested Against Two Other Big Brands
6 October 2021

I probably shouldn't say which.. I bought a UL pad, big brand, leaked 1st time out. Returned (did not buy from REI). Then, got another brand, "tubular" type, 3". Unstable sleep surface for me. Felt like I was going to roll off. Then I read the reviews: leaks and blow outs. No thanks. I pad is mission-critical, IMO. I returned it. Then emailed STS, asked a few questions. The STS (this one) is 30D top, 40D bottom fabric. Nylon, not polyester. Seemed good. And the "tufted" sleep surface seems very stable to me. Only have tried out at home a few times. I'll still baby it in the field but expect no issues.Pros:- Inflates on 4-5 fills of the sack - without me blowing into it. I stick my hand in it, inflate that way.- 2" is enough for me and I'm a side sleeper. But ... MoreI probably shouldn't say which.. I bought a UL pad, big brand, leaked 1st time out. R value does make a difference in cool to cold weather.Cons:- I'll never use the pillow attachment and I have had a STS pillow for like 5 years. Seems like a gimmick but this is the world in which we live. I'll just not use it.

Ultra mint
4 July 2022

The search is over! Finally a lightweight mat that doesn't break the bank. No crazy fabrics you can't pronounce, just smart quality construction.I've had the comfort light for many years and have never had an issue. Just pack and unpack it in your clean tent only. Its not a pool toy.As for comfort, it's an ultralight mat. Made for keeping you warm without any pressure points. So it helps to be very tired. The included pump sac is much easier to use than expected. It works sort of like filling a plastic bag with air, and then forcing it into the mat. Great for keeping moisture out.

Ultralight

Very happy with my purchase. Packs up small and is super lightweight. This mat is insanely comfortable and quiet when moving around on it. It evenly distributes your weight so you don’t bottom out. Have not used it outside yet to test it’s R value but looking forward to testing it out on my upcoming backpacking trip. I’m a 5’10 female and I have plenty of room on the regular size. I also bought the ultralight pillow to go with it, great sleep system combo
