Collapses completely flat for packing! Sea to Summit's X-Bowl, X-Plate and X-Mug hold warm or cold liquids and are freestanding with flexible silicone sides. The X-Mug has a flat rigid ring around the rim to keep it sturdy and easy to drink from. The rigid ring maintains the shape of the X-Mug yet still allows it to be collapsed to a disk that will fit in the palm of your hand! The X-Bowl and X-Plate have a hard nylon scratch-resistant base for cutting and chopping. All three flatten to the same 15 mm profile and nest inside each other - the X-Mug inside the X-Bowl which nests inside the X-Plate. The sides are made from food-grade flexible silicone that can withstand temperatures of hot foods and nearby hot surfaces. All three are manufactured from FDA and EU compliant materials.

Great little mug for camping, bikepacking, and everyday use. Check the diameter if fit inside a specific pot or other implement is important for you; mostly mine has just free-floated in packs and bags. As with anything silicone, it will attract dust, lint, fluffs, etc, so I usually give mine a little rinse out before I fill it up.

This review replaces an earlier one where I gave the X-Mug one star. The x-mug I purchased just prior to an 8 day backpacking trip developed 3 holes/tears along the accordion folds on its 2nd use when I was 10 miles from the trail head. Needless to say I was not pleased with the prospect of no coffee or hot cocoa for a week. Thankfully I had some waterproof bandaids that I was able to use the adhesive portion to reduce leaking during the trip. Customer service contacted me the day after my initial review and explained that the reason for the failure was that during the molding process, the two halves of the mold failed to line up perfectly, and thus the material was less than the specified thickness along the folds. This seems reasonable since I had used my previous ... MoreThis review replaces an earlier one where I gave the X-Mug one star. This seems reasonable since I had used my previous x-mug on multiple long trips for about 1 1/2 years before it developed similar holes/tears. The company is shipping me a replacement X-Mug at no charge even though I did not have the original receipt. Based on the performance of my first X-Mug and the fact that the recent mug failure was a fluke, I am revising my rating to 4 stars for the X-Mug and 5+ stars for Sea to Summit's customer service. I should mention that I have owned an X-Pot for over two years and have cooked with it over a hundred times without any problems. The lid did develop cracks after a year and Sea to Summit also replaced it at no charge.

My old STS X-mug was separating at the rim. I asked STS if they could fix it and they sent me a new one instead! Great customer service. The new model is slightly smaller but sturdier and I love it for backpacking. It fits inside my pot under the fuel canister perfectly.

Fabulous and so convenient. Use it everywhere. It even fits in my car's beverage holder. Good grip because of the ridge up the sides. Comfortable to hold when full of hot coffee and there are no burned lips when you use this mug. I bought the highly visible lime green X-Mg so it wold never be overlooked when leaving a campsite.
Love the design, functionality, measuring cup, colors, and concept of the x-mug. Feels great in your hands when you hold a hot beverage but it CAN get too hot sometimes.Internal measurement marks are perfect for measuring your water for that Mountain House meal. However, I am concerned about the durability of the material in the X-Mug since my X-bowl cracked/had chunks fall out.I give it 3 stars for potential durability issues. Fix it with a different material, preferably one that doesn’t attract every speck of dirt and fiber and gets stuck on it. Otherwise, I would give it a 5 star review for the design, concept, and functionality.Attached photo is of my x-bowl which was purchased at the same time as the x-mug and used the same on the multi-day camping trip.
I had several of the X-cup. My fingers were not happy with me when I made coffee, cocoa or Ramen. It was just so hot to hold the cup securely. I heard of this new mug with the ridges. I was so pleased and my fingers still thank me whenever I use the mug as I cannot feel the painful heat any longer when I have very hot drinks. It resided in my haversack now along with a ti stove and small cook pot. It fits very well as it folds flat and weighs next to nothing. I highly recommend this new Mug with ridges.
Purchased the X Mug for my Camper Van as storage is extremely small and it packs Perfectly! My sister and her fiance usually visit and needed extra drink ware for the upcoming fall season and spiked hot cider or cocoa! Easy use and cleaning makes it indispensable for spending time enjoying the outdoors, Van or Backpacking camping. I topped mine with a silicone lid to help keep my drinks cold/hot but mostly the critters! Highly Recommend
I found the X-Series Mugs, Bowls, & Plates are really good for Base camp, Family/Car Camping or anywhere that space is a premium. They also clean easily and are very compact. Not sure yet, if I would use them for multi day backpacking due to being slightly heavier than a Ti Mug. The X-series does take heat well. I was eating oatmeal and soup from it daily for a month now. I gave it a 4 because of the weight, and It does seem to be picking up and retaining the smell and flavor of the soup. I have a different color for each of my kids so they don't fight over who's is who's.
I have to say these are one of my favorite cups to drink out of, even out on trail!! They save so much room in my hiking gear and kitchen cabinets. I have room for so much more activities! Okay, in all seriousness, these are one of my favorite pieces of gear. My hubby and I drink our morning coffee out of these every morning either on trail or in the camping grounds. We now have 6 of them because our kids and us are going on a small section of the AT in September and of course we cannot start our day without coffee!! These compact down to hardly anything and fit in my cooking stove WITH the fuel canister, stove, lighter and a compact knife. Thanks for such a great product and the memories we make with your product!! I’ve had this for two years and for the sake of trusting a company like sea to summit I was sure that the measure is correct. So I was calculating all my intakes and whatever needed liquid measurements with only this cup during my trips and expeditions. This almost led to the point of absolute failure during some projects not knowing that all the numbers inside are for mere entertainment and are not realistic. The cup has some lines and numbers showing you the amount of liquid inside, which are wrong; The cup, when fully full (almost tipping out liquid) is just 400 ml and not 480ml as stated (and same goes with the CUP measurements so 2 cups are not 473 ml). I just found out when someone else had a cheap measured bottle and told me the cup was labelled wrong when ... MoreI’ve had this for two years and for the sake of trusting a company like sea to summit I was sure that the measure is correct. I just found out when someone else had a cheap measured bottle and told me the cup was labelled wrong when added the liquid to his jar from my cup, and I was like: “man u can’t compete and compare your cheap stuff with sea to summit; little did I know how betrayed I was taking 400 ml instead of 480s that I was planning my whole training on. Later that I weighted and test measured it I found out that it was all wrongly written on this cup. This was the biggest disappointment and made me loose faith in this whole company forever. (It’s so on my nerves that I sometimes even feel colder when I sleep on my ether mat during winter, comparing to other brands, just because I have no trust anymore). U could be better, shame on this quality control.I even emailed the company back then and never got a reply.Cheers anyways, at least I know I have good foldable 400 ml cup.
