I am just here for the rewards points. LOL.Seriously, consider this storage card to be an essential purchase if you are serious about your gaming and you wish to store multiple games on your console. With game files growing larger by the day, you will eventually run out of space on the main drive of the console. Trust me, it's not a question of "if", but "when" you run out of space. The install and setup of the card is one of the most easy and simple things you will do on the Xbox. Just plug it in and the OS will lead you the rest of the way. Done! You will have the additional storage that you need and you will also be glad that you have it. Peace!

As an owner of the previous Xbox one consoles, it was pretty much a given if you owned a lot of games, had a gold account and/or a game pass subscription you needed more storage than what came with your machine. I myself found an external 5tb hard drive in addition to the 1tb hard drive in the console itself was more than enough space to hold a pretty big library.Unfortunately, this solution can’t be utilized the same way with the new Xbox Series consoles. The internal hard drive in these new machines are 4th gen M.2 NVME drives that are utilized by Xbox series games due to their speed. This means in order to play enhanced or specific games for the series consoles, they'll need to be installed on the internal hard drive. Since there is only 1tb on the internal ... Since there is only 1tb on the internal hard drive and even less available after updates, you may run out of room quicker than you thought. Even though there’s been an update to store series games on external hard drives and transferring them to the NVME when you’re ready to play it to save time and bandwidth with your isp, it’s still a pain.Buying this secondary internal storage expands the amount of series games you can store on your machine that are ready to play immediately. The reason is that the NVME that is stored in the series machines is also inside of these expansions(hence why they’re so damned expensive).Between this and the 5tb external hard drive I was using for the Xbox one x, I should be ok for a while. I just hope a higher capacity (and a far less expensive) option for the expansion slot becomes available in the near future.

I enjoy the ease of use: easier to plug in than a usb? Truth be told: Im bothered by the high price point and proprietary nature. I could definitely get past the proprietary aspect, considering it being specifically manufactured for the xbox is part of the convenience. But the unreasonable price per terabyte makes this hard to excuse. After several pro consumer moves, this is definitely a step backwards from Microsoft. Of course, it does perform. No noticable difference in operation between internal and external. Data transfers back and forth very fast, with exception to any data coming from a HDD. Once its on the expansion though, it flys.
After about a year of Xbox Series X ownership, I decided to pick up the 1 TB expansion card due to the recent launch of a number of great titles which quickly filled up the native storage on my console.Seagate offers a 2 TB card, but thought it was too pricey for what I need at the moment. 1 TB should provide me with enough extra capacity to manage my game library without having to make a difficult decision to start deleting/archiving games to offline storage.Installation is super easy. Just insert the card and the console automatically recognizes and configures it. No other steps needed. By comparison, the process for expanding storage on the PS5 is a bit more involved, though the benefit is that there are a number of different options and brands of NVME SSDs ... Pricey, but worth every penny! I currently sit at over 15TB on my xbox series x and it is 90% full. I game a lot and own more games than there is time in life to play them, but with this external SSD I'm able to keep my crucial competitive games installed in a fast SSD that allows me to switch from single player games in a heartbeat to my multiplayer ones without the need to transfer or re-download them. The install is super easy literally plug and play. The 2 TB just came out this year 2022 so I will be getting this one to switch places into my Xbox Series S to get that console some breathing room to 1.5Tb and get my Xbox Series X up to 16TB with a total of 3 TB of fast SSD.If you have an Xbox Series S I say get this or at least the 512 GB version for cheaper, ... The question will be in 3-5 years when this should be a bit cheaper and we will see if they lower the initial price on it or not.
The irony of buying the XBOX S to save money, only to find that you need more storage, making the XBOX X the better buying decision. But I dont regret buying the S version; it was a great way to get back into gaming. However, regardless of the version you buy, storage issue will arise, eventually. Thats where this bad boy comes in. I never really cared for Seagate. But they hit a homerun with this little accessory. It plugs into the xbox and you have instant extra high speed storage that is fast enough to play X & S optimized games! Yes. Purchasing this does hurt a bit. But once you have it, it becomes a priceless accessory.
Ridiculous! We bought our son the new Xbox S for Christmas. We had already bought extra storage for the Xbox 360 last year. One month after having the new system, we discover that the old storage works with the new unit, but not fully. So we have to buy another storage device. I paid more for this than we did for the entire new console. This is a gimmick and you guys at ole Xbox know exactly what you are doing. I wish I would have never allowed such a thing to come into my house. I could have paid the whole dang house off with as much money as I’ve spent on consoles, games and now storage devices.
The only reasons I give this product 4 stars is due to the price of the item is extremely high and when delivered the product box was still sealed but looked like it had been mauled my an ape… other than that I love the easy plug and play ability. I wish I could have gotten 2tb for this price but it is what it is. I keep an extensive library of games and having to transfer the games to my external drive and back all the time was very frustrating. Having the ability to have all my games ready to play is almost worth the price. It’s too bad that we are limited to only OEM products for SSDs to hold and play out games from. Hopefully by the time I need to add more space to my Series X, these will come down in price. No complaints about the product itself or how it functions
BIG NEED TO KNOWS:- 1TB = ~846GB of ACTUAL Storage-You CANNOT remote install onto Expansion (fix this)-You cannot remote manage expansion (fix this!)So this was really exciting purchase for me. I wanted so many GamePass Games and Valhalla, but I had no space. This allowed me to download and play the Series X|S versions without a problem. You probably already know this but, you cant actually do that with a regular ol External HardDrive, even if it’s USB3!I was SUPER skeptical about the write/read speeds, and I was right to be. It’s not as flash fast as the advertise and claim. Downloads are obviously dependent on your internet speed, but INSTALLS... well it’s nothing out of this world. and just as fast (maybe SLIGHTLY faster) than an External USB3 Harddrive. ... Downloads are obviously dependent on your internet speed, but INSTALLS... well it’s nothing out of this world. and just as fast (maybe SLIGHTLY faster) than an External USB3 Harddrive. Whatre you paying for here? The privilege of installing next gen games. Truly. I will say the boot up/load times are much faster than any other external storage, so I suppose you’re also paying for that. The biggest bummer with this purchase was finding out you can’t remote install/manage that storage. Nobody talks about it easier. I read at least a dozen PROFESSIONAL articles about this item before purchasing and they all had the same old data to provide, which makes me wonder if they even tested/bought the product or they all just plagiarized from one another. Because no on touched on the small details like the ACTUAL storage or the setbacks from Xbox mobile app/Console companion (listed at start of review). If I had the ability to manage the expansion remotely, this would be a five star item.Lastly, I dont know that this is really a good VALUE (money vs perks), and I think I’ll wait before even considering another one of these (I’m actually waiting for more 3rd party expansions, which Microsoft promised).BUT if you’d like to take advantage of these perks, that the product offers, and you’re not too sure about dropping ~240$ on it (with tax) then I would recommend checking out QuadPay. That’s how I got this. I paid 60$ every two weeks, using quad pay, and it made the hit to my wallet, A LOT more bearable.
