Physical install was simple, just screws and a data cable. Initialised in Windows Disk Management and formatted in seconds. I moved all my library files over and re-installed some big games on the, now called D:, drive. Freed up a lot of space on my boot drive for essential programs. Not a single problem from it. Quiet and speedy enough for the duties I’ve assigned. Works perfectly for me.

You DO NOT want your HD to over heat and you need the ventilation that only using the 2 small strips will give you. It will also be more than enough to secure the HD so DO NOT use more! If you completely cover the HD slot in double stick foam tape do not be surprised if your system freezes and fails/shuts down/reboots/or fries out. 4-Once you have the 2 strips of tape in place remove the backside of the sticky tape and start to insert the HD at an angle and move it down and you plug it in until the HD comes in contact with the tape (swooping motion) and now your new 4TB HD is installed. 5 - Replace the top of the PS4 unit, I was able to get mine to fit back on with a little bit of play and force. There is a very very very slight bulge, but you would NEVER EVER be able to tell. I will try to add pictures of the HD and my modification, again if you choose to do this all responsibility falls upon you! But it does work and it is VERY easy and simple to do! ***UPDATE*** 12/2018 Ive been running this HD in my PS4 for a few months now. There is a slight lag/sluggishness at times when multitasking and in the menu. Otherwise its been great! Tons of space for what I need! Maybe in another six months I'll trust them as much as the WD Red drives they replaced - until then all my volumes are three-way mirror, and I have offsite backups. One drive has disconnected from my SAS card twice, hard to tell if it's the drive, card or cabling. In the process I got to see how well double redundancy works - the storage pool didn't even flinch, no downtime, no readonly mode, just rebuilt redundancy using free space on other drives while on single redundancy for a few hours. I ejected and reinserted the disconnected drive, and everything was back to normal again (albeit a bit unbalanced free space).

This 2.5 inch HDD was shipped in a box too large - appeared to be sized for 3.5 inch HDD. As a result the plastic inserts which are supposed to gently hold the HDD suspended in the middle of the box during shipment were too far apart and the 2.5 inch HDD slipped out. It was loose and flopping around inside the box when I received it (likely banging around inside the box all throughout shipment). Completely inappropriate situation for a HDD which can easily be damaged by this kind of uncontrolled physical shock and vibration.Thankfully B&H provided great customer service and sent me a return shipping label at no charge for RMA.B&H Shipping procedure needs to be reviewed and fixed to ensure 2.5 inch HDDs go out in boxes correctly sized.Thanks to B&H for the RMA.
Finding the right balance between quiet and fast isnt always easy. I love the open concept of my condo, but it means that sound travels and is not easily concealed. Fortunately, these drives are the tight balance of noise to speed. I need my drives to be fast, especially for data heavy media such as 4K films. I need my data to be quiet because my media servers are in the same room as my projector. I dont have to crank up the volume on my home theatre to drown out the sound of the chugging drives with BarraCuda Pro drives. I currently have about 100 TB of storage distributed on 11 drives. The BarraCuda Pro are my absolute favourite when it comes to marrying size, speed and quiet.
I've had this disk for about two weeks now. It worked fine in my burn-in period on a test computer, so I transferred the disk to its target system and installed it. Unfortunately, something about the disk in that system is causing an annoying buzzing noise. It disappears when I hold the disk in my hand, but whenever it's in contact with the rest of the computer's case, it buzzes. The computer in question has other disks (one SSD and one other HDD), and this disk replaces another one, so it's something about this specific disk that's causing problems. I've re-seated the disk, replaced the mounting screws, etc., all to no avail. I'm concerned that this might presage a disk failure, but so far there's been no sign of that. My neighbor gave me a selection of her old laptops that had various issues, and I was able to get a Sony Vaio working by replacing the failed hard drive with this drive in January 2020. Installed windows 7 Ultimate x64 on it, and so far I have no complaints relating to the drive 7 months later. It was much slimmer than I expected (if I had a connection splitter I could fit two into the laptop), but I was able to install it in the larger drive bay without any hitches. At this time I have no reason to give it less than 5 stars in all categories (although with it in a Sony Vaio I can't exactly test high end gaming use), and the price was very affordable. When I do, I will probably leave this hard drive in the Vaio for a back up (and portable) computer.
This is an incredible steal. For only 60 bucks you get an amazing drive that’s even better with an SSD. Unfortunately I got sent a bag of cat food at first, so I’m taking 1 star off for Home Essentials Direct’s goof up. My friend was nice enough to give me his spare (which is the exact same thing as this one, I checked). This drive is great for gamers, students, and workers. Unless Home Essentials Direct sends you a bag of cat food. Then that’s only good for a cat.
This was a totally fraudulent listing by Brute Networks as a new drive. After less than a year, this drive failed and when I went to get warranty support from Seagate, it was not eligible because the drive was recertified, not new as it was originally listed. I then tried to obtain a replacement from Brute Networks and my request was denied. I spent almost five hundred dollars on this drive. Avoid buying from Brute Networks at all costs. They are liars and do not warranty their products.
Seagate has always been a reliable brand. This drive replaced a 15yr. old hard drive on its last legs. The backwards compatibility for laptops using 3.0 Gb/s is excellent as is true 6.0 Gb/s performance. The drive is nearly silent even sitting bare & taking on over 500GB of data at full 6.0 Gb/s speed -- when inside an enclosure or computer it is completely silent. I can't rate the reliability of this HD model as it hasn't been in use long enough to fairly rate that aspect, but if other current Seagate models are any indication it should be very good.
