The Exos drives have always been good for me. They're at a good price, faster speeds than the Iron Wolf or some other brand drives, not loud but not quiet (enterprise drives). I have several in my NAS and all of them have been performing well for several years now. Plus, drives from B&H have the manufacturers 5 year warranty with them.

Great drive so far. The ones sold and Shipped from Newegg are Retail, so they do indeed have the 5 year warranty. You need to register it on Seagates website. The website will probably say the warranty ends 5 years after Newegg received the drives. Just contact Seagates support about it and make sure they update the warranty end date to 5 years after YOU actually ordered the drive. You will probably go through a few reps before someone will fix the warranty issue and a rep or two might say that its an oem drive so the warranty isn't valid, but it IS in fact a Retail drive and their actually IS a 5 year warranty. Just be persistent about it. They will eventually fix the warranty.

Home Essentials Direct has at least 6 listings for "Exos 8TB" and I have 2 of them now. THIS ONE ?ST8000NM000A seems to be faster than my older one ST8000NM0055-1RM112. CrystalDiskMark-8 ?shows ST8000NM000A to be 160% faster on average, from 104% faster random reads with queue depth 1, to 266% faster random writes with queue depth 32, while sequential reads OR writes are all 140% faster. YMMV!

People keep saying that hard drives are dead, but truth is that I have quite a few mechanical units in RAID to store huge amounts of data that does not need to be accessed in a quick way. If that is your situation, this unit is great. I think that it is cheap, silent, reliable and quite fast for a mechanical drive. Totally recommended. You can also check the WD Gold as alternative, they are also very good.
I purchased this drive to replace a failing drive in my Synology Network Attached Storage device. I have used Seagate enterprise drives in all my NASs for some time, and had good experiences. This drive tested very well, and has a 5 year warranty. While there may be some other good choices today, my experience with Seagate enterprise drives has been very good.
It's not as fast as my other 8TB drives like the discontinued HGST He8's, but it's quieter, probably equally reliable, and available for less than WD Ultrastars. It has excellent enterprise features and self-diagnostic and logging tools.
seagate the entire line of for their money is famously works years, not noisy, quickly. Bought already more 20 such compact disks and'm using already year 3 seagate different volumes , all work.
It is not entirely clear the pricing of hard drives, since it costs the same as 6 TB, from the same manufacturer. And the disk itself is quite productive, has a fairly large cache of 256 MB and 7200 rpm, which is the standard for good disks, but not for 200 euros. The worst but expensive disk.
Only been using for a few weeks but everything seems to be working as expected. Using for backups and long term storage so r/w speed not important but writes at a steady 40MB/s. Usual noises from mechanical disks. Would buy and use again but can't comment on life span.
offers an excellent value and size is jSeagate 8TB Exos just right. Haven't had a single Exos fail yet.
