I have about 6.3TB of material on my computer and its various external drives. Most of it is 4K video raw footage.I wanted to back out all up in one place. I went looking for an 8tb external drive. No joy, but PB Tech did have this 14tb drive. It backed up my internal drives without any trouble at all. It ignored the external ones but copy and paste worked perfectly, and was easier anyway than moving drives around and plugging them in.

I usually buy Lacie and thinking that Seagate is essentially the parent of Lacie, I picked one of these up.It's truly awful, it regularly unmounts, constantly drops out and takes forever to remount. I have watch glaciers drift across frozen lakes faster than this thing processes data.It sounds like a plane about to take flight if you so much as think about moving a file onto it.I'm very disappointed with this purchase. Never again

Very noisy, vibrates the desk when being written to. And slow. I needed to transfer several TBs of data from smaller drives to this one in my home office. Started copying 2TB from a Seagate USB 3.0 3TB drive (through an iMac), mostly large video files and resources, in early evening. Said it would take 6 hours! Went to bed later that night and, even after shutting the doors, could still hear it clattering away! I have 7 existing desktop drives varying from 500GB to 3TB and none of them are this noisy. I have 2 LaCie 6TB drives at work and they're silent by comparison. The front USB-A port won't power a portable drive either, so there goes the idea of transferring directly from the portable drives.

Does what it says on the box. A good looking unit, only marginally larger than the old 10TB hub version I had. Has a fairly open top design which seems good for heat dissipation. Noise and vibration is a complete non-issue. I was slightly worried about this given one of the other reviews here. I put it on a thin foam rubber pad (although that's probably not needed) and have it under my desk and really don't hear it at all. I'd definitely recommend it. I'd have brought the 18TB version but that seemed a bit steep in price to me.
External drives have very little frills needed. It's one of the largest you can find in market. It's a nice compact size, and clean design. The plug that came with it also comes with prong adapters for multiple regions (very handy for me as a traveler). It's not especially fast (I'm backing up NVME drives, so its definitely the weak link), but I was able to transfer 8TB in about 14 hours.I haven't bothered to test the "hub" ports, because I have a proper hub already. Might be useful to plug in an SD Card reader, but I'd rather it be a direct SD card slot like my WD passport pro drive.Elkjop was the quickest option for having it shipped (about 5 days faster than the guys with "K" name).
Do not buy this drive. It has never worked properly for me. I never know when it is going to power on and when it isn't. The troubleshooting on their website suggests a whole bunch of things to do if the drive won't power on and show up on your computer. I've tried them all. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the drive will work. And why should I have to try all of those things when every other external drive I own just works. Why should I have to try different outlets, different computers, different hubs. I won't buy a Seagate product again.
This was good value for the money; however... The box contains electrical adapters for multiple foreign sockets which are simply tossed. You put one on your drives electricity adapter and the rest have no working use in whatever country you live in. I can't imagine to what extent these excess adapters for drive sales around the world would add up if put into a pile, a pile of plastic and metal that is simply unacceptable in 2023. They should segment their markets so each consumer is not tossing 5 or 6 international adapters per drive.
It does everything you need it too and is well priced amongst its competitors. I'm removing 2 stars for its utter waste of plastic and ignorance of environmentalism. Why on earth would I need all of these international power outlet adaptors? And to provide 2 of each of some of them? A complete waste of materials. Lose all of the plastic wrappings of everything too. There's plenty of alternatives.
External drive works great. Allows you to work with large amounts of data. But in fact, it duplicates the built-in drives in the system. It is convenient to switch between nearby devices. You can't take him far.
Bought to hold all my music production librarys and samples I have purchased over the years.Super fast and reliable. It sleeps when not in use, but wakes up quickly with no issues. I am guessing just to prevent wear and energy.Highly recommended 10/10.
