IronWolf and IronWolf Pro are designed for everything related to the NAS system - always available and fully operational. Designed for multi-user environments and high workload rates, these NAS hard drives are supported by AgileArray technology for optimal reliability and system scalability. IronWolf Health Management (IHM) provides a better hard disk health. When IronWolf or IronWolf Pro hard drives are integrated into compatible Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, overall system reliability increases as the NAS system is continuously monitored and users are alerted as needed. On a NAS system with IronWolf hard drives, multiple users can easily upload and download data. All IronWolf hard drives are equipped with RV sensors to maintain performance in multi-bay NAS enclosures. Small businesses must be able to support growing data volumes. Vibrations and high workload rates in a high-performance data network in a multi-RAID environment can't affect IronWolf NAS hard drives. With IronWolf and IronWolf Pro, remote access, backup and file sharing lets you keep to any schedule around the clock. So just keep doing what you do best. These hard drives keep pace with your growing data storage needs.

The censorship to protect business and product is outstanding around here. The whole point of reviews is to help make a decision and in the long run if you sell a bad product you are just making life worse with returns and shipping fees along with lost time. The review is to help both business and consumer in order to get the best product for the job. Censorship does nothing but drive businesses to other platforms just ask Google, Facebook and Am^^^^^^ Funny, you are not allowed to even say Am&&&&&& on this platform without the censors hitting you.

These are awesome drives so far. They are installed in a new PC I built for photography and will function as a mirror RAID of the rest of the system. I wanted the NAS drive type for when I eventually upgrade to a remote NAS. Keep in mind that these don't come with power or data cables.

The best right now for NAS/long-term storage, but for fast short-term storage you will still want an SSD. Personally I still think hybrid storage is the way to go with a fast m.2 as your OS/apps drive. A larger SATA SSD array for games/photos, a large HDD like this for fast high capacity backed finally by a NAS or storage server for long-term storage.

Just purchased these drives so to soon to say anything about reliability. Purchased these because it was a good price and was able to order all 8 drives. For those considering these drives mine where OEM drives in plain cardbord boxes, not the nice retail packaging. I checked the Seagate site and the warranty and everything looked good. I do wish that it said OEM in the description as the picture looks like the retail drive.
I like the large capacity of this drive and it fit in the SATA drive bay just like the 1TB drive that I had to replace. Warning to anyone installing Windows 10, you should partition the drive before installation because Windows will use about 3.5 TB for the installation and leave the rest of the drive unallocated. And you can't partition the rest of the drive after the install.
So far, I would definitely recommend these drives. Both drives functioned perfectly out of the box with no detected errors. Installation was easy. They are a bit noisy, but I don't have much to compare them against. Speed is good, although I only have three or four devices accessing them at any given time. I haven't owned them long enough to comment on their longevity/durability.
Other: Overall, I am very impressed with this drive. It doesn’t sacrifice any performance (within the constraints of what platter based drives can achieve) despite its huge space. Overlapping work data onto this drive from other SSDs and HDDs took about 7 hours to write 5+ TB over part of a day. Of course I want to imply that if one intends to use all 14+ TB of this drive, start considering backups and mirrors of one’s data as this is getting to data center levels of capacity and 16 TB is a lot of space. My particular drive arrived in a small box with Jell-O plastic cushioners and barebones, yet was in good shape. SMART and other tests showed all sectors were good. We’ll see about how this drive holds up long term, as platter drives naturally have reputations for ... MoreOther: Overall, I am very impressed with this drive. My particular drive arrived in a small box with Jell-O plastic cushioners and barebones, yet was in good shape. SMART and other tests showed all sectors were good. We’ll see about how this drive holds up long term, as platter drives naturally have reputations for being sporadic on their lifespan and behavior from time to time. Operating temperature in a mounting cage in a Caselabs SMA-8 Rev. A with passive cooling / venting was about 35 C continuously, reaching about 41 C while writing. This variance is only due to my room fluctuating in temperature, but the drive’s range specifies from 5-70 C operating so clearly it can handle far worse. Doing large bursts of copying to this drive presented no issue, and I was getting advertised speeds at 33% use of the drive compared to my own diagnostics. Windows and this drive handled a few 600 GB to 2+TB copies like a champ, no issues. In terms of pricing, one may think it easier to buy two 8TB drives, but the cost for this singular drive is not too much higher and it’s nice that the pricing is still in the curve of efficiency. So if you have a ton of work, project data, RAW files, video, B-Roll, etc., and don’t mind this cavernous volume not being an SSD, what is presented here can’t be beat, well until probably next year when Seagate and others push 18+ TB to market.
Seriously. It's a big, great hard drive. What more do you need to know?
Drives installed and running with no problems since 11/29. Would recommend these drives to anyone getting a NAS. These fit nicely into my Asustor Lockerstor 4.
This Hdd us at a great point now. I purchased one to add more space to my Synology DS918+, running 7.0. Runs fantastic.
