The stone itself has a nice balance of grit types (1000 and 400), allowing me to get a good edge on my chisels and knives. I would recommend using with a quality diamond-compatible lapping fluid for best results. Only used a few times so cannot comment on durability but product appears well made.

Heavy and doesnt move when sharpening. Exactly what you want. Im very happy with this product, got my chisels and plane blades razor sharp very quickly. Re ground a whole new bevel in minutes. Quick little strop after the 1000grit and good as new. Highly recommend

For the price I paid I was expecting the plate to be aluminium or something. But it's a solid, heavy slab of steel. The 400 grit side cuts through metal quickly and the 1000 grit side gives a keen edge. It makes very short work of restoring old chisels and plane irons (for those who like buying old chisels & planes). I'm very pleased with mine.
The size of these items is so much better than a regular sized one for area to hone on, allowing the use of a honing guide space. The base, stops it shifting around while you work. I would thoroughly recommend these diamond plates. I have purchase from this seller directly before, they are reliable.
