Its a watch that stands out! A magnificently stylish dial with a textured centre of soft vertical lines giving a velvet grey appearance in certain light. This is separated by a mid minute counter track which is surrounded by a bold black ring with Roman numeral markings at the evens & bar batons at the odds. The day/date matches the dial colour & its window is framed in silver to match the the outer track numbers & sword style hands. The finish is good! Don't forget this IS a sub $200 watch. As with all Seiko 5's, the bracelet is a cheap feeling hollow link & it rattles. I've replaced it with a burgundy red Ostrich strap that just makes the whole watch go BANG! I'm impressed!

The good: The dauphine hands are great, as is the texture under the hour markers. Its not evident in most photos, but the case is both polished and brushed, whereas other watches in this price range would be one or the other. The day indicator is bi-lingual. Mine alternates between English and Arabic and it sticks with whatever language you set it to. It goes Monday, Arabic, Tuesday, Arabic, etc and when it advances it skips over the alternate language. Applied hour markers are a nice touch. The bad: Movement is just okay. You can feel it grind as it winds. The crown is tiny and hard to adjust. The bracelet is hilariously cheap. The links are made from rolled metal and they didn't bother to seal the sides, so you can see each layer and the gaps between. I put it on ... MoreThe good: The dauphine hands are great, as is the texture under the hour markers. All of these issues are common throughout the Seiko 5 lineup, so I expected them. At this price point they have to cut corners somewhere. Even with the cost of the strap, overall its a good value.

This little bargain may become one of your favorite watches, so consider that fair warning. I have the same 7S26 movement in another Seiko, an SNK809, and I have always been impressed with its accuracy. From a functional standpoint, this watch does what I need in a dress watch, giving me a day/date display in a thin, light, accurate watch. Where it really sets itself apart is in appearance. The hands and indices remind me of the Patek Phillippe Calatrava or the older Omega Seamaster, both of which have to be called classics. This watch, at under $150, is simply beautiful, once you get rid of the Seiko bracelet and put on a nice leather strap. Get one. You will not be sorry.

This is a great watch and I'm actually shocked that it isn't sold out yet. When Mark mentioned it on his YouTube video I couldn't press buy It now fast enough. For the money you pay for this watch it's a phenomenal bargain. I agree with most, as a bracelet aficionado I do not like the band. So the first thing I bought was a $13 bracelet directly from China it should be here any day. The watch has the 7s26 caliber which from my experience in a few watches that I have owned over 20 years is like the AK-47 of the weapon world, they just keep running. The best story I can tell about this watch, goes like this.... The best story I can tell about this watch, goes like this.... Typically when I wear a watch out especially when it's one of my favorites I expect all kinds of compliments and people to mention it sometimes I'll wear a $1,500 watch and nobody will say boo. Last week I wore this watch to work and I got three compliments. Everytime I got a compliment, I was totally surprised. Like..Who me? This watch? Not the other guy? I am not sure why this bargain beauty gained so much attention, maybe the fit and finish or the pretty dial, the sporty recessed crown or just the overall snazziness the watch posseses. After that day my interest was peaked and I conducted a few experiments for myself. I had some friends and family over for 4th of July and I was showing them some of the new watches I had purchased. That bargain beauty was a hit. Now these are people are not watche collectors so they don't realize that a folded bracelet is less than desirable or that you want a sapphire crystal etc. My take away was that this is a classy little piece is a complete steal at $139.
I am beyond thrilled with my latest Christmas gift to myself! The moment I laid my eyes on this gorgeous auto Seiko watch, I knew I had to have it. It was an absolute steal and I couldn't resist its charm. This stunning piece is just perfect for my everyday work wear and I can't wait to flaunt it. I am so grateful for this purchase, it's definitely one of my best decisions ever. Thanks a ton!
Great watch for a great price. I like the exhibition case back. It's a dressier watch than some of my sporty watches which I like. Sore far the movement is better at keeping time than some of my more expensive automatic watches. The band is not the best, but looks good enough on my wrist. I probably will swap it for a nicer leather band soon. Kudos to Marc for putting these classics back on the site for sale!
This is a great watch. It looks and wears great on the wrist. The size is just right and goes under a dress shirt with no problem. The more I wear it I feel for me it wears better than my sarb. Thanks mark for getting these in. I have only had it on my wrist for two days so far keeping perfect time so not sure yet if it is fast or slow.
This is a $100.00 watch that looks like $1,000,000.00! This watch comes with Seiko's 21 jewel Automatic (self winding) movement. It features a 38mm stainless steel case and fits very well on your wrist. It has a stainless steel bracelet that is very comfortable and easy to open and close. It has luminous hands and hour markers which show up very nicely in low light or complete darkness. I do like that the crown is offset to the 4:00 O'clock position. I think it gives it a sleeker look and keeps the crown from catching on things. This watch comes with day and date complications and also has Seiko's proprietary scratch resistant Hardlex crystal. It sports an open clear back so you can see the movement in action which I absolutely love. The thing that stands out the ... MoreThis is a $100.00 watch that looks like $1,000,000.00! You just would NOT expect so much detail to go into a dial on a watch at this price point. If you are looking for a very expensive looking watch then go no further than the Seiko SKNL23! In my humble opinion, it's one of the best watches for your money on the market today!
This was my first automatic watch and the seiko was chosen for its clean looks and price. The watch is well made and feels good on the wrist, it was easily adjustable as well. That said, I find it fast by a couple of minutes every four days or so. Ive heard this is common with most automatic watches so I wouldnt trust it if I was somewhere remote for some time. I will switch off weekly this watch with my citizen eco-drive field watch as they both contrast each other nicely.
You have to look far and wide to find a better automatic movement watch for around $100.00 The Seiko 5 has been around since the 1960's and is no resurrected as a brand new fully automatic movement watch. It may be assembled elsewhere than Japan but the quality is first rate and the watch is a thing of beauty. For some reason Seiko decided to add a rather basic linked stainless band that over time feels fine but when new certainly needs a break-in period to feel comfortable. Not to worry, since this is a dress watch most men will opt to change out the metal band for a quality leather band, as I did. The feel is now great and I have a wonderful piece of history in a newly made package. If you spend anytime looking for a Seiko 5 with dauphine hands you know there are not many out there usually these were put on the more expensive versions such as the Actus and going all the way up to the Seiko Grand. Don't even hesitate to pick up one of these beauties, you will not be disappointed.
