The white date window spoils the look of the "classic" green dial Alpinist but on this champagne dial version it makes the watch look more balanced. Lovely!

A great watch from a proud tradition.
This model of the Alpinist is very stylish and sits comfortably on the wrist, neither bulky nor heavy. Also, the cream-coloured dial gives it a 'cleaner' look, a classic look. I would prefer a metal bracelet or a dark brown leather strap, however, which is an indication of how versatile it can be. Finally, the 70-odd hour power reserve is a plus as one can rotate between watches throughout the week, but would not surprise me if it becomes my main stay.
It's a thing of beauty in every way. I have a SARB017 (2005) and love it, too, but I prefer this one. The is a nice touch as well. Some people don't like the cyclops over the date, but I love it. I think it adds something. I'm glad I bought this one, but I'm glad to have the SARB017 as well.
