Audio was not for me, microphone was great.

This headset has an amazing microphone, it is perfectly noise-cancelling and crystal clear in general. I've had numerous people in both Skype and Teamspeak tell me how amazing the microphone is compared to my last headset (Logitech G930). I've also tested it on numerous playback programs and websites such as twitch. Now, for the audio quality. I could never get the audio quality to work well for me. It always had a very muffled sound and lots of distortion within my games (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Battlefield 4, etc.). Also, the most annoying problem for me was the constant fluctuation with the sound volume. Constantly, different sounds would get quieter and louder at random times. It is possible this would all go away with a sound card, but I have also been told that on-board sound works well, I guess just not for me. All in all, this headset would probably be a great headset with a good soundboard and the mic.

I bought this headset because I wanted a durable headset with a high quality mic and speakers that would allow me to listen to music and other people at the same time without having to take it off, and it allows me to do just that. The open ears make it very easy to pick up sound from other sources. How easy? With music playing at 25% volume I am able to barely hear my friends from 30 feet away, and it completely blocks everything else out at around 80%. If you don't want to hear outside sources that clearly, I'd suggest putting in the extra $40 for the G4ME ZERO. If you wear glasses, your head will start to hurt within 2 hours of first use. I've used this headset daily, and after a month it's now gotten loose enough that I'm able to wear it for up to 6 hours at a time without head pain. While talking to others or listening to a recording of yourself, you may hear that the mic picks up very faint "fuzz" noise. This isn't a problem with the mic, just that you have your microphone level up too high. To set it lower in Windows, open the Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, click Sound, click the Recording tab at the top, select the microphone for your headset and click Properties, click the Levels tab at the top and lower the slider. I have mine set at 24 with a mic boost of 0, and my friends on Skype say they don't hear any fuzz anymore but I'm just as loud and clear (my Skype volume is at 65%). Overall, I am a very satisfied customer and owner of this headset.

If you use Creative's SBX Pro Studio (assuming you bought the Omni Surround 5.1) or Razer's Synapse Surround Pro to get virtual surround, I believe that you would really prefer it to using a headset with "True" 5.1 or 7.1 channel surround. It costs roughly the same as those headsets, but instead of spreading the cost out among up to 10 mediocre drivers, you are paying a lot for two extremely high quality drivers. You only have two ears, so digitally shaping the sound to mimic what your ear normally gets and pointing it directly down your ear canal gives you the same basic experience, except that the quality of the drivers actually gives you BETTER situational awareness, because you get better frequency response and clarity and a lack of any distortion. This headset is good. Don't mistake this low rating for it not being good. Its a good quality headset. Great sound and comfort. This low score is because not even 2 weeks in and the sound in the right ear cup has completely broken down and no longer works. I didn't handle this thing poorly, or drop it. It looks just as brand new as when i got it. I tend to take very good care of expensive things but man. This build quality is hot garbage. Maybe i got a bad batch but i can't recommend this to anyone.

Listen up, I'll give it to you straight, because if you're down here reading reviews you just want to know what's up. IGNORE the bad review. That person clearly has NO clue what they are talking about. I mean you read the last line stating that Sennheiser's are not good headsets for gaming and you immediately know that it's seriously bogus. Sennheiser's are always beasts for gaming and this is no different. The previous model placed the volume control on the wire and over time this would create a whole slew of issues from sound cutting out, your microphone creating horrible sounds for others, or just simply caused it stop working. GONE. The control is now on your headset itself (right side.) I'll be straight with you, this applies to all Sennheiser's, it will ALWAYS sound better with a nice sound card, but that does not mean it will sound poorly without one. I haven't purchased a sound card in years and you can live without it. Price? Who cares. I've seen people in the past talk about how they can buy a video card for the price of a Sennheiser headset. Let's keep it real though, if you are a regular Sennheiser customer, are you really dropping only 200 or lower on a video card? Chances are low. Even if you do buy video cards at that price line are you really surprised by this price point on a Sennheiser? Chances again are low. You get what you pay for. When you shell out almost no money, get a cheap headset, you know it. When you pay for the premium, you know it. Stop debating it, buy it.

Excellent headset for the price. It's comfortable, adjusts easily for a comfortable fit, and works well on Discord. The "open acoustic" speakers don't completely cancel outside noise, but the lighter weight and excellent sound make up for that. IMO, it's a bargain at this price. I'm very satisfied with this product and would recommend it.

Great headset but beware!
3 October 2021

It's a great headset, but it doesn't work reliably due to the mute button - which is integrated into the microphone pivot mechanism - having loose contact. Sometimes it simply doesn't recognized that it's supposed to be muted and vice versa. You can have the mic down, in the unmuted position and it won't pick anything up until you kind of went back and forth a bit and prayed to a few higher planes of existence. Vice versa, you can put the mic up into the mute position, and it won't actually mute - so beware what you say with this headset on when you're in a call with someone and think you're muted. You might just not be.I have two friends with the same headset who reported similar issues. It's not the biggest of deals, but at this price point I'd really expect it ... MoreIt's a great headset, but it doesn't work reliably due to the mute button - which is integrated into the microphone pivot mechanism - having loose contact. HIGHEST CALIBRE HEADPHONES MONEY CAN BUY.
15 April 2018

I'm a 16 year old gamer/audiophile who loves being able to hear EVERYTHING in high quality while playing games that rely heavily on audio to hear nearby players Fortnite, PUBG etc. This headset caters to this perfectly with heavy bass and beautiful sound. I'm also a Spotify addict and this also caters perfectly to this, providing a pure Sennheiser sound that all audiophiles will froth over.In terms of comfort I couldn't have asked for more. On other headsets I've used in the past I would have to take breaks ever so often due to uncomfortable ear-cups. However, using the GAME ONE's with the velvet cups, I can game comfortably for up to 9 hours straight and not feel ANY discomfort. These headphones are for anyone seeking the best of the best.

I'm on my second pair of these headphones, which should tell you enough. I love the sound quality, and the microphone is great for its intended use (gaming, online meetings, etc.). Flip it up and you're muted. They're incredibly comfortable, and especially when working from home I have them on for most of the day. After years of use the first pair shows hardly any signs of wear. The only reason I'm on my second pair is not because the first pair wore out externally, but because the volume dial on the right ear develops issues with its internal potentiometer failing. This has as an effect that whole headset is muted when it happens. Mine is paired with the Sennheiser GS1000 gaming DAC/AMP and the 7.1 immersion is incredible. Playing Escape from Tarkov and other FPS games just got a major upgrade from previous headsets using software virtual 7.1 sound. This is not a true 7.1 headset, but I wouldn't know it after the amp applies 7.1 to two channels. Sound definition and clarity are great, and my friends compliment how clear my mic is. This isn't an audiophile solution. There are way better headset and headset amp pairings out there if you're looking for the pinnacle of sound. That said, for my uses of gaming and music and skype calling they are the best money I've spent in audio for a very long time.
