It’s heavier than any other Shark I’ve owned, not female friendly at all.I think I’d rather have blue floorboards than the massive amount of bruising I have received from this bulky piece of trash the past month.I am to the point that throwing it out the window, taking a baseball bat to it or running it over would be therapeutic.I hate this thing!! Do not waste your money on it!!!!!!

I couldnt say enough good things about it. After having it a little over a year it started losing connection on the wand. I would blow it out with an air compressor and it would usually help. I even upgraded to a zero-m base with a self cleaning brush roll which made this machine even more amazing. Pretty soon the connection problem became more consistent and aftet a little over 3 years the base part of the machine (which later i found out was the wand connection) stopped working completely.. i decided to get another vacuum and decided on the vertex. In less than a year i was having connection problems and the fins on my brushroll were pretty much gone. I was having to duct tape the wand to the base so it isnt loose. I called for help and tbey told me to replace the wand to fix the connection problem. When i asked about the base with all the fins gone on my brushroll he told me i would have to replace the entire base and couldnt just replace the brush. I remind you...i had had this vacuum less than a year. I may as well just buy a whole new vaccum! So i have opted for my duct tape method which has been inconvenient but works. I have now only had a year and half and may as well throw it in the garbage. And now have to spend money on yet another vacuum..I am drawn to shark because i love that its lightweight and the lift away is awesome. But im not rich and cant afford to be buying a vaccum every year or 2. I wish shark would stand behind their products and cover major parts for at least a year or maybe find out why they are having connection issues. I am disgusted and embarrassed that i have recommended these products to so many people who have went out and bought them. I hope they dont have the same problems i have.I wrote this review in hopes that someone from shark would contact me and make things good. Only time will tell. But in the mean time i am in need of a working vacuum that is not a shark

I say WAS because in order to get a replacement vacuum through the warranty department I was forced by the customer service agent to CUT THE POWER CORD, making it useless garbage. (I will elaborate more on that whole situation in a moment) The floor nozzle needed to be replaced, per the customer service agent. She said they didn't have a replacement because they stopped making that vacuum. Instead she was sending me a brand new Shark Vertex Duoclean Powerfins Liftaway Upright Vacuum. The idea of an entirely different vacuum to replace my beloved UV810 was very unsettling. BUT, I asked myself.... how could the latest and greatest Shark vacuum be anything other than amazing??? When it arrived, I was giddy like a kid on Christmas morning. I could hardly wait to try it. I have NEVER been let down by a Shark vacuum...until now. The Vertex DuoClean is HEAVY. I mean CRAZY HEAVY. My shoulder and arm were burning in agony after vacuuming only 1/3 of my 950 square foot house. The nozzle is not maneuverable AT ALL when compared to the other 7 Shark vacuums I've owned. The nozzle is also MUCH larger than all my other Shark vacuums. It's width doesn't allow it to fit between, under, and around my furniture. It's weight makes it impossible to maneuver. As far as the lift-away goes, it's TOO HEAVY to carry around and be able to use the hose to vacuum anything at the same time. The suction is super strong, yet it picks up only about half of what all of my other Shark vacuums pick up. The rubber fins are the worst idea Shark has had. The buttons being moved to the handle makes zero sense to me and causes nothing but problems. The Shark Vertex DuoClean is comparable to a 1978 METAL Kirby upright vacuum. A BIG HEAVY CLUMBSY PIECE OF JUNK. I broke my broke in a car accident last year and I cannot use this vacuum, it is very painful for me. As far as the other one star reviews, I agree 100%. The attachments are cheap garbage, the clips and closures are cheap garbage, and for Shark to produce such absolute garbage is inexcusable. I DEMAND a replacement UV810 or my money back.(Now let's discuss the customer service rep making me cut the power cord on my UV810)On Sharks website there is a troubleshooting guide for their individual products. The guide for my UV810 starts by having you plug in the vacuum. The last step in the trouble shooter instructs you to call customer service for further assistance and gives you the phone number. NONE of the steps instruct you to unplug the vacuum. The customer service rep asked my to spin the brush roll manually to see if it made the soft roll spin too. It kindof spun. Like it had something bound up in the bearings or something. Instead of having me do anything further she concluded that it needed a whole new nozzle. Too bad they discontinued my vacuum and she did not have a replacement nozzle to send me. She offered to send a brand new vacuum instead. But in order for Shark to honor my warranty and send a new vacuum, she had to witness me cut the power cord on my UV810 via video chat. Throughout our 30 minute phone call I never thought about the fact that my vacuum was still plugged in, and she never requested that I unplug the vacuum. Needless to say, I WAS ALMOST ELECYTROCUTED because my UV810 was still plugged in when I cut the power cord. The electric shock actually cut threw my scissors. The customer service rep said that nowhere in her list of steps to go through with customers does it ask her to have the customer plug in the vacuum. I informed her that it is the first step on the website's troubleshooting guide in order to get the customer service phone number for further assistance. I should sue Shark for ABSOLUTE negligence. What reason could Shark possibly have for making people cut the power cord on their broken vacuum? To ensure the broken vacuum won't be repaired and used by someone else in need of a vacuum? They would rather fill the landfills with unbiodegradable machines than allow their customers to do what they please with their broken vacuum? I am just all around flabbergasted by the whole experience. What do you have to say for yourselves???

Okay WOW

This thing is amazing. I've never had a thing for vacuums but I do now. We have all tile floors, and I had stopped even thinking of vacuuming until I was interviewing a potential cleaning lady. She asked if I had a vacuum--I didn't even know if I did or not, that's how long it's been since I've used one with all tile--she said her process is to vacuum really well and then mop. She recommended Shark vacuums.I started looking at Sharks to find one she could use when she came to clean my house. Then I started thinking--hmmm--for what she would charge, and with as easy as her routine sounded, I could do it myself. So with my saved cleaning money of the future, I bought this vacuum, and as my title says, okay, WOW. This thing is awesome. Assembly was super easy, and if the instructions look a little confusing, there are You Tube videos you can watch. vacuumed the whole house and was stunned at the dust and chunks. It's somewhat heavy but I didn't find that a problem--it's very maneuverable. Just now, I used the detached canister and wand and cleaned in the office, and not only wow, but big wow! Lots of dust hiding in there. Don't try to use it on throw rugs because it instantly inhales them, but now I'm wondering why I have so many throw rugs anyway. All this to say--100% happy, 100% impressed, 100% looking forward to cleaning my house (when have I ever said that!!).

Poorly Made, Broke in 8 Months

Long review, TLDR at the bottom.I’ve owned my Shark Vertex DuoClean Powerfins lift away for less than a year - 8 months to be exact - I use it once a week and have two small dogs. As advertised, this vacuum does a good job at picking up pet hair and at first I loved it.However, my roller brush stopped working entirely despite my meticulous cleaning after each use to ensure the longevity of my vacuum. There are no clogs, the brush heads are free of hair and yet they will not spin. I called for warranty assistance, after the video troubleshooting was complete I was informed it would need to be replaced. The replacement was not covered under warranty and the cost was $80 for a new brush head. I called for warranty assistance, after the video troubleshooting was complete I was informed it would need to be replaced. The replacement was not covered under warranty and the cost was $80 for a new brush head. To the credit of the customer service representative, a one time exception was made and the cost was waived after I argued that the vacuum should not be breaking under normal use after less than a year and this was clearly faulty product. I did still have to pay for shipping costs on my replacement part which was $20.According to the company policy, I am fully responsible for my $500 vacuum breaking down due to “regular wear” regardless of it being less than a year from purchase or my steps to insure it is free of clogs. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing from Shark in the future as what I would consider to be faulty product - given the fact that it has been in use for less than a year -is labeled as ”normal wear” under their warranty and therefore not covered at no cost.I expected more from what I would consider to be a higher priced vacuum and I misjudged it. It clearly cannot hold up against even a year of basic use without breaking down.TLDR; Warranty does not cover or replace faulty parts for free under their policy. The company has labeled brush heads ceasing to function as “normal wear and tear” despite me being within warranty, having the unit for only 8 months and cleaning my vacuum after each use. This vacuum is cheaply made, cannot even stay together for 1 year worth of use and you will have to pay for the replacement parts along with the shipping when it breaks down.

The Shark Vertex DuoClean PowerFins Upright is exactly what a neat freak w/ OCD should own!!! You can feel the weight of the machine as you start it up (after you’ve adjusted the pile setting for hard floors, carpet, etc.). I have been using another brand unit for the past 15 yrs approx. & was happy with it for almost all of those years. It provided me an introduction into the upscale vacuum product & also gave me some great ideas on what it was lacking & what I liked. This Shark machine has all I was looking for & more!!!Pros:Versatility - it can become a canister vac, mobil detail unit for the vehicle, deep cleaning machine for furniture & mattresses and even a deep clean machine for the hard to reach, often forgotten places (under the fridge or oven - how long has it been since you actually swept under there?!)Easy to Assemble - The joints and nerves in my hands are under constant attack, which make even the smallest “grip”/“grab” task mildly frustrating. After waiting a week for help to put it together, I decided to “suck it up buttercup” and try myself. It was all of about 5 steps & BOOM - we’ve got a new “toy” in the house!Gadgets/Gizmos/Attachments/Accessories - There is an accessory for almost any task in your home & automobile! I haven’t tried them all yet, but very excited to do so! Hopefully it’s a breeze to use them & attach them as it was to put together the entire machine!Bonus - I don’t often purchase a product on the actual brand website, but after a night of insomnia, I stumbled on this paid programming segment (as well as the hair dryer…so I may have that on my next Shark/Ninja product acquisition list!). I was so shocked that a vacuum could do ALL of that, plus you’d get bonus accessories & items as well as an extended warranty option all for purchasing on the site! SOLD - sign me up!Cons:Weight/Vibration - As mentioned previously, I do have severe hand issues, so although I was amazed at how “fluffy” my carpet felt after vacuuming SLOWLY for my first test run & how I feel like that carpet hasn’t actually been cleaned this whole time, after a little bit, I could feel the tingling and vibration for the next couple hours. Not a deal breaker, just definitely a thought to consider - ensure you have the energy & appropriate rest time afterward if you suffer the same symptoms.Attachment Storage - it lacks the “on the unit” storage of most competitors & wish it did have clip places to attach them to the unit itself. Instead, they give you a bag to put it in. Which this is fine if your household is of the same mindset as you - but if you live in the “real world” like I do, it’s likely that you live with folks who don’t put things back where they belong, therefore you’re likely to have lost or M.I.A. Accessories. So here’s to hoping my “happy-go-lucky” loved ones heed my warnings if they do not store the accessories back in their designated & appropriate area! :)

Shark Vertex DuoClean Powerfins, Cheaply Made $500 Vacuum
13 November 2022

Long review, TLDR at the bottom. I’ve owned my Shark Vertex DuoClean Powerfins lift away for less than a year - 8 months to be exact - I use it once a week and have two small dogs. As advertised, this vacuum does a good job at picking up pet hair and at first I loved it. However, my roller brush stopped working entirely despite my meticulous cleaning after each use to ensure the longevity of my vacuum. There are no clogs, the brush heads are free of hair and yet they will not spin. I called for warranty assistance, after the video troubleshooting was complete I was informed it would need to be replaced. The replacement was not covered under warranty and the cost was $80 for a new brush head. To the credit of the customer service representative, a one time ... MoreLong review, TLDR at the bottom. I did still have to pay for shipping costs on my replacement part which was $20. According to the company policy, I am fully responsible for my $500 vacuum breaking down due to “regular wear” regardless of it being less than a year from purchase or my steps to insure it is free of clogs. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing from Shark in the future as what I would consider to be faulty product - given the fact that it has been in use for less than a year -is labeled as ”normal wear” under their warranty and therefore not covered at no cost. I expected more from what I would consider to be a higher priced vacuum and I misjudged it. It clearly cannot hold up against even a year of basic use without breaking down. TLDR; Warranty does not cover or replace faulty parts for free under their policy.

Sharks are a huge waste of time and money

I've bought probably 5 vacumms in the past 5 years. The 1at one I loved until the connection in the pole stooped working. Called for a replacement and they stopped making them. How can you warranty something for 5 years at that price and quit making the accessories after 1 year? Have bought 2 cordless which I do like but the aren't the best for carpet. This last one, Shark vertex is horrible. Couldn't try it in the store to see how it maneuvers or really how heavy it is. The box doesn't say the weight on it. The base does not swivel smoothly so I have to use a lit if movement in my wrist and shoulders. Add that on top if the weight of the vacumm and you definitely have a workout while cleaning. Shark can claim that it captures 99.99% of allergens but it does blow ... MoreI've bought probably 5 vacumms in the past 5 years. The 1at one I loved until the connection in the pole stooped working. Add that on top if the weight of the vacumm and you definitely have a workout while cleaning. Shark can claim that it captures 99.99% of allergens but it does blow quite a bit of air out and when dumping the canister, well there goes that. Dust all over the floor again and dust, dirt, hair and whatever else blows up out into the air when dumping in the garbage. When emptying the canister you have to use your hands to pull the hair away from attachment (?) Inside and 99.99% of the time you have to dig out of the top portion. Huge failure in trying to keep allergens out of the air. Floor roller gets hair stuck in the two small wheels. Ugh. Just everything is so frustrating about their vacumms. Cleaning filters, canister and clipping hair from rollers (all of the vacumms). Who wants to spend their time cleaning a vacumm after cleaning? HORRIBLE. I'll take my $500 back

Very powerful
22 May 2022

This is my second vertex. I keep two so when one is being cleaned/dried, I still have the other to use. (I have 3 pets and I clean the parts of the Vac that can be cleaned fairly regularly).I have had multiple sharks. They were all great. This one is the most powerful I've had. I obviously like this vacuum alot...i bought second, but there are a couple of things to consider: most powerful shark, YES, also the heaviest compared to the other lift-aways I've had (it is still very maneuverable and takes off due to the increase in power); the lift away design itself is also different and not as easy to re-attach as other models were. It's kind of annoying and awkward to re-attach (I've gotten used to it now); the long wand is also harder to snap back into place after ... MoreThis is my second vertex. These are not enough to knock a star off, where I debated on 4 or 5 stars was the missing light on the handle. This had always been a fave feature on my previous Sharks. It really helped me to see when using the attachments... now it's difficult and you'd be surprised at what that little light illuminated in terms of hidden hair and dirt, so I'm sad that it's not on this model. Overall though, I've never been disappointed with any Shark and this one is certainly amazing in terms of the job it does so 5 starts it is. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a powerful vacuum, lift away vac that does an awesome job... the negatives are minor compared to the quality.

Worth every penny

I loved this vacuum the instant I bought it and I still love it. As someone with chronic pain and muscle weakness, I was hoping for a user friendly vacuum. My old shark kicked the bucket after 12 good years. I loved that vacuum, but this one was a major upgrade! I love the swivel which makes turning and getting into tight spots so much easier. Even though it’s one of shark’s heavier vacuums, it doesn’t feel like it. It moves forward easily, pulling itself along. The backward motion does take a little more effort but it’s manageable. The powered lift away is a game changer. It’s wonderful to be able to lift off the canister and hose and walk around wherever I need. Both are lightweight and easy to move around. And you have the whole length of the cord, not just the ... MoreI loved this vacuum the instant I bought it and I still love it. And you have the whole length of the cord, not just the hose length! No worries about the vacuum falling over when you’re trying to reach someplace. The canister snaps back into place easily after you’re done with it. The vacuum seems powerful and good at getting down into carpet. And the HEPA filter is great for my dust mite allergies. I will recommend this vacuum to everyone I know.
