While I have a huge Hoover carpet steam cleaner, I wanted something easier to manage for just a spot or 2, that can reach tight spaces. Multiple tools - This Portable Carpet cleaner comes with multiple tools like - Integrated Crevice tool, 3.5" reversible bristle tool, Pet tool and Hose clean tool. After testing it out in a few different areas, following are my observations:- It came neatly packaged, basically all assembled except for the nozzle. It came with with three nozzles - a crevice tool, 3.5" hand tool, and a pet-mess tool, 2 cleaning solutions, a quick start guide and a small pamphlet with illustrations and descriptions of operation and a trouble-shooting section.- The instructions were very easy to follow and the unit is very easy to use. MoreThe Shark StainStriker Portable Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner is a great, powerful cleaning appliance. After testing it out in a few different areas, following are my observations:- It came neatly packaged, basically all assembled except for the nozzle. It came with with three nozzles - a crevice tool, 3.5" hand tool, and a pet-mess tool, 2 cleaning solutions, a quick start guide and a small pamphlet with illustrations and descriptions of operation and a trouble-shooting section.- The instructions were very easy to follow and the unit is very easy to use. It was easy to fill both tanks, with clear instructions and measurement markings on the tanks.- The StainStriker is a little louder than I was expecting, but not as loud as some other shampooers I have used.- The StainStriker is portable and lightweight, making it easy to transport around my house or use on stairs.- I have some new carpet that had a soda stain which I had previously worked on cleaning with a couple different methods, but the stain was still noticeable. I used the StainStriker with the 3.5" hand tool and followed the instructions for a dried, set-in stain. I scrubbed the stain first, then sprayed and scrubbed some more, then went over the area multiple times. The suction seems to be good, but it still requires multiple passes to absorb all the moisture. When I was done and the carpet dried, the StainStriker had completely removed the stain!- I also shampooed both a rug and carpet in front of a chair that are in heavy traffic areas. I was shocked at how dirty the water was that was extracted in those areas. Both the rug and the section of carpet looked much better after cleaning them.- The tanks were easy to clean up after use and I am able to store the unit back in it's original box.- The only suggestion I would have for improvement is that I wish they gave measurements that allowed you to only fill the tanks partially in the event you just want to spot clean a small area, rather than having to fill the tanks just to clean a small area where you don't need a full tank.Overall, the Shark StainStriker Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner does a great job. I love the portability and ease of use and it is very effective in cleaning. I would definitely recommend it!

WHAT'S INCLUDED? Shark StainStriker, integrated crevice tool, 3.5" reversible bristle tool, pet tool, hose clean tool, 6oz Deep Clean Pro Formula, 12oz OXY Multiplier Formula. The StainStriker Portable is the perfect sweet spot where value meets quality without compromising cleanliness and performance. Using a two-part solution, stains are visibly reduced, and odors are neutralized, unlike anything I have used before. I have other machines from other competitors, and their solution isn't even close. The secret is really in the "sauce" oxy multiplier that works a reaction live on the stain you don't get with premixed one-part solutions. There is no need to pretreat stains, which is also time-saving. The cleaner smells ok but leans more to the cleaner side than the fragrance. That is okay because I want it to be clean, and I can freshen up with the Febreze of my choice afterward.You take out the tools, read the manual, familiarize yourself with clean-up and maintenance processes, mix and load water/solutions, and then make stains disappear! The cleaning tools are also very effective and useful. From the 2 part solution to the brush integrated into the handle tip and the handle with a separator tank for nasty jobs you may not want to suck into your machine, this is innovative and effective on multiple levels. There is a 3.5-inch head with reversible rubber/nylon bristles making this adaptable for various uses from carpets and rugs to furniture and upholstery. Use the included self-cleaning tip to rinse the handle and maintain your machine for optimal performance! For cleaning and refilling, it utilizes a 3-tank system of small manageable tanks with handles that all house in the base so anyone can get the job done. Each side of the machine handles a separate function, and I just love how well thought out the design is, EXCEPT the hose is a tad short at initial setup out of the box trying to secure the handle in the holster. However, the hose will stretch over time and eventually "settle," so just be careful not to break anything when stretching it to the cradle. I set it up in a warm room in early fall; however, be mindful that the hose may be cold and brittle in colder temperatures.Easy to Love About+Lightweight - weighs less than 9 lbs. empty. With solution tanks full, it weighs less than 10 lbs.! One finger can carry this thing in most cases, so one-handed is even EASIER!+Separator Attachment - a brush head with a separator keeps chunks and nasty clean-ups out of the tank to eliminate clogs and minimize germs and smells.+Suction - suction power is excellent. The carpets are slightly damp and not soaked like other spot cleaners I used.+Dual Activated Solution - the secret is in the sauce! The solution is super effective and does most of the work on stains. You can see the stain color gets neutralized, and there is no issue with the discoloring of the carpet.Things to Think About-Solution - a double-edged sword here. It works great, but you need two bottles of solution, and it uses a lot when you spray. You are looking at close to $30 after tax for a set of two bottles. Deep Clean Pro and OXY Multiplier mean 2x more managing cleaners.-Solution Availability - good luck finding more solutions after your initial bottles! Sold out on Shark's site and not listed on Amazon or any other site I could find. It works so well that it vanishes like the spots they clean. You won't be able to walk into any big box retailer to grab more, either. The 1st Step, Deep Clean Pro solution, is only listed on Shark's site as sold out. The 2nd Step, OXY Multiplier is more readily available, so one can only expect production to catch up to match.-Hose hanger. This is more on the hose length needed to be an inch longer, so you don't need to feel like you are stretching the hose just to get it to reach.I believe this is an EXCELLENT product and could be proof of concept to build a more robust PRO version in which you get interchangeable hoses and other tools released. Maybe a commercial version can be created to go up against the big boys having more powerful motors and suction built of steel or other combinations than plastic. I can see this going into a cordless model with their battery system and I can see this going far. The sky is the limit for Shark on this one. I would love to work with them and have fun making this product and make it a no-brainer instead of a nice-to-have in every home. This makes a great gift for anyone in your life who has carpet, children or pets, and just a messy car interior in general. They will be convinced how having this around can keep their things looking nicer. It is easy to use and no one can say this is hard. On the rare occasion of a spill, even my 7 yr & 10 yr olds help and want to clean their own messes HAHAHA.

This machine requires this a Shark specific 2-part cleaning solution. The included solutions bottles are sample size only (good for only 1-2 uses) and not widely available. I was able to find them on Ninja's website in a larger size, but only a few other stores stock them and I was hoping to find a local store to avoid shipping cost. The model numbers I found for the larger sizes are EXOX32 for the StainStriker OXY Multiplier Formula (32oz) and EXCM48 for Shark CarpetXpert Deep Clean Pro Formula (48oz).2. No storage for pet attachment (minor for me since I keep everything in a plastic storage tote).3. It cleans so well that it is easy to get carried away, but this really is a spot cleaner - small tanks and manual scrubbing limit the area it can clean to about a 5ft by 5ft square (for dirty carpet).

The vacuum is pretty easy to snap the few connections together and the tanks you need to fill have good disconnects on them that don't leak more than a drop or two.When using the unit, you'll find that the biggest handle, which you'll use the most often, gives step by step instructions on how to spray, scrub, and remove the water. So far this is easy as the sprayer has good pressure and the rubber scrubbing fingers really do well to loosen up hair, fibers, and other gunk in the carpet. I'm hoping Shark fixes this with a design revision as I really love the cleanable filter cartridge which catches hair and large particles.I also wish this unit had a water heating option. It would have added more weight, but as this unit is corded, the power draw would have been manageable and warmed water would help with stubborn pet stains.All in all, while I find this unit usable, their are other units out there that will likely serve your needs better in the same price range.

If thinking more for automotive and frequent usage, I would look for a more dedicated product for two reasons:1) the design of the wand attachment2) the collecting bin sizeThe water tank to the concentrate line holds 26oz. However, the collecting bin is only about 10oz. That compartment houses the float for the auto shutoff and that takes up quite a bit of space, so it fills up a lot quicker. This is nice for cleaning the tool, but during use it wants to snap off, so you have to apply extra pressure on top of the tool when pushing into the fabric being cleaned. This is also needed as the tool wants to pop off at the attach point to the wand. You have to push down pretty good to get the proper extraction or you will leave too much liquid in the carpet/upholstery.My two test use cases were recently dried wall paint in carpet and in my vehicle. For the vehicle less than 24 hours old DollyWood Sweet Bread oil/sugar grease in the vehicle upholstery and then some mystery stain on passenger seat at shoulder for more than 2 years (failed to get before pic on this one)Dried Paint in Carpet = barely failVehicle Oil/Sugar grease =barely failVehicle Mystery Stain = WIN!I used both included solutions to clean in all of the tests.Both of the barely fails really just need a more powerful scrubber and maybe even less dilution of the cleaning concentrate and actual powered brush and I figured this would be the case. But it did clean some of it, so that is why it wasn’t a total fail. The included rubber attachment scrubber while nice is best for simply cleaning that has not yet had the opportunity to dry or stain yet. I did not use the scrubber on the mystery stain as I could see that just wetting the affected areas already began to dilute whatever the stain was.I am definitely satisfied with the product, but if you are thinking of auto-detailing on a consistent basis and more than your household fleet, I would look for a more dedicated product.The included pet attachment for collecting “liquids” that come out of them I have not had the opportunity (thankfully) to use yet. The only issue I see with this is like most devices that come with a good amount of accessories, is where to store it?The vaccum itself is not very big, but there is not a place on the device to attach the Pet Attachment or the hose cleaning attachment, which you definitely don’t want to use as it makes cleaning the vacuum hose very easy.The hose storage is also quite tight. My guess is the same instrument they used to measure the 7” Tool was used to measure the circumference of the device and/or the length of the vacuum hose, as it is about 3in too short and makes sliding the Wand Tool on to the latch when storing away very tight.There are definitely a few things I think version 2.0 could improve on, but as-is it will definitely get the job done based off the Info-mercial of a box and its claims.I can definitely recommend it and I definitely plan on using it to now clean the spilled Dr.P in my truck as well as finishing the DollyWood gooey sauce.I did dock a couple stars for the issues with the wand attachments, short hose/design, and the collecting tank being so small.
