This microwave is actually a 5 star user experience. The only reason I gave it 4 starts instead of 5 is because it never seems to last as long as it should, for the price and reputable brand quality. If they say 4-5 years for a microwave, this one will give you 2-3, depending on how you use it. Our 6-person family uses the microwave intensely every day, and it stands up to the rigorous beatings, time and time again. It's a beast. And in a busy kitchen during the school run for breakfast or while cooking dinner, time is precious. The 1200W motor shaves multiple seconds off every time it's used - this accounts for minutes at a time on a run sometimes, and keeps the efficiency ticking over. Reheats are super quick and thorough. The defrost presets and cook functions are absolutely perfect, too. Easy to push buttons, full number panel to select your exact time (the instant add 30 seconds is a dream!), no annoying or long, drawn out, repetitive tones (they got rid of them with the latest models), super cool, bright LED internal light, several colour options (premium colours = premium prices, of course) - there is nothing lacking. It's not the largest model in the world, but it's a reasonable size and suits our family needs perfectly. Defrosting a roast etc. is definitely a breeze, though.I love this microwave so much that after going through two or three, I tried a different brand and model, only to have instant buyer's remorse. I have already had that in twice for repairs too, under warranty, so nothing's perfect. And what did I do while waiting for the other microwave to come back the second time??? I bought another Sharp Carousel! The other one is now in garage, waiting to be used as a spare. But the Sharp Carousel 1200W inverter microwave is so superb for high-level daily use, I would rather have a good experience multiple times a day, and replace it every 2 or so years, than suffer a frustrating experience from poor performer for 5 years and a few bucks less. It's really your decision, dear shopper. Everyone has their preferences for their own valid reasons. But I've been through a few microwaves now, and I know what I'll be sticking with.

Ive had two previous Sharp microwaves, one lasting over twenty years, the next seven years. I went with this model, believing it was similar to my previous model with Sensors. The choice of sensor cooking had been reduced. Only one for frozen vegetables, not two, likewise fresh vegetables the same. Ive ended up with burnt shrivelled up vegetables. No better doing timed cooking. The cooling down of oven is very loud and long time. The idea of a microwave is for quick and convenient cooking. Five weeks on and very disappointed with it.

Fan noise after the microwave has stopped

I was disappointed with this microwave from the start as the fan continues operation after the microwave has finished. The duration of continued fan running was dependant on how long the microwave had been in operation. I would not have purchased this microwave if I had known this occurred.Generally, this microwave seemed noisier than any other microwave I have had, although I have no measurements. After owning it for just under two years the wave guide cover in the cooking cavity caught on fire and it seems to have damaged some of the cooking cavity that holds the mica wave guide cover. The microwave was reasonably clean.

Great Microwave!
12 February 2022

We bought this microwave to replace the older model we had for years which suddenly stopped heating the food (Inverter Sensor Microwave Model R395YS).This newer model is awesome. It cooks the food quickly/efficiently and evenly with it's 1200W maximum power. Size is quite big inside but you will need a reasonable space to fit it on your kitchen bench (we have ample space so no issues there) - it's not any bigger than similar models in the same size.We just reheat / warm food and we don't use any of the fancy automated recipes. The Quick Start function incrementally adds time in 30 seconds blocks (unlike our previous one which added time in 10 seconds intervals).Overall we are quite happy with it.The only minor issue if I may be nitpicking is if you set the clock up ... MoreWe bought this microwave to replace the older model we had for years which suddenly stopped heating the food (Inverter Sensor Microwave Model R395YS).This newer model is awesome. And finally the same annoying cooling function with Sharp microwaves that continues to run even after using the microwave for just 30 seconds.Apart from that, very highly recommended inverter microwave. Oh we bought it at a slightly promotional discounted price so that was awesome ).

It died after our.popcorn run
3 January 2023

It was useful and running but there are times smokes comes.out the microwave door and on the side. It happen occasionally so i dont mind. Purchased thus last oct 5 2021 and since last week before.new year it died after i run a popcorn... it has a weird sound and smells like.burnt. and then after that all reheating was the same. We only use the microwave to reheat food. Too bad warranty runs off.

It's an ok microwave
12 May 2022

We decided to try a Sharp microwave this time - have previously had panasonic. This microwave is pretty straightforward to use. There are some odd things like you have to cycle through the clock function to set the timer. The sensor function does not seem to work well as it has way overheated everything we have put in there. The fan runs for awhile after the microwave finishes. Overall this microwave is fine but I will probably go back to Panasonic next time.

Not as good as old model
24 July 2022

I loved my old sharp microwave of more than 10 years. Unfortunately this new model is not as good. Theres an extra step if u want to reduce the power. For some weird reason now u have to press start twice. The dark interior of the new microwave and the dim white light are also annoying. new features that I dislike. Makes it harder to clean and to view the cooking process. But on the whole it does what a microwave oven suppose to do. It just isnt as good as the old model thats all.

Sharp microwave
31 March 2023

The first one I purchased packed up with an error message after three weeks. After contacting Sharp and then AO, the replacement arrived. It’s now also three weeks into it’s tenure and so far so good. By the way, my previous Sharp lasted about 15 years. The new ones, the identical (yet updated) model is fundamentally not as good. The settings make little sense. Original model for example, worked out how long something would take to defrost. The new one, you have to figure out it’s weight first. Why?

So Far very good and very good value
2 July 2022

Although it has a slower entry of cooking time and temp than my previous Microwave it is very good value for money. It has a fan on mode that clears the oven of odours etc after cooking has ceased. I have only had this Microwave a few weeks but my two pervious microwave one had a faulty door electrical switch problems and both had glass trays that chipped. I tend to use the microwave less instead I use to relying on cooking but as gas becomes more expensive that might change again. I always recommend getting an extended warranty.

Still the best but not as good as they were
27 February 2023

I've owned 4 Sharp Carusel Microwaves over the past 20 odd years - basically the same model - and they are the best I've seen. But, Sharp have ruined the User Interface! The one touch 60 second run for my morning coffee is gone. The defrost and pre-programmed functions are twice as complex, totally non-intuitive and require twice the "keystrokes" to complete. Even the set-up and clock functions have been convoluted. And to top it off, the door opener is now one sided and clunky, when it used to be so smooth. They fixed something not broken, and broke it.I also went Stainless Steel for the first time and the fingerprints are driving me crazy. It gets heavily used but I wipe it down at least a couple of times a day.
