Though I can't speak so much as to its authenticity and, for sure, everyone has a different idea as to what constitutes as sweet, let alone sickly sweet, I personally didn't find it to be too sweet - I actually thought it pretty balanced between sweet and sour and, overall, to be what I might or should expect from this particular sauce. I enjoyed it more than I expected that I might, honestly. Bland

We're big fans of Sharwoods and I bought this when the full sugar one wasn't available. It's a mere shadow of the full sugar version. For us it ruined some perfectly nice pork and vegetables - we found it bland and unenjoyable. I'm giving it 2 stars rather than 1 because it's still better than a lot of other brands sweet and sour sauces!

Convenient and tasty

This sauce has a good amount of lovely crunchy vegetables already included which was a really nice surprise. It was really quick and convenient to prepare with a bit of chicken and when served with rice even my fussy partner ate it as he preferred the sweetness to some other brands. It is a little more sweet than sour but is good quality compared to other similar products so I was pleased not to get the vinegary taste I sometimes experience with cheaper brands. We bought this as part of a promotion but think it's great value and will become a cupboard staple for when we want a quick but tasty meal that we can both agree on.

Full of flavour and ideal cooking sauce

The usual high standard Sharwood's product. It is simple to use - add to chicken - or beef. Full of flavour and 30% less sugar - but this does not impair the flavour

LOVELY SAUCE

This sauce is super, just the right amount of sweetness and full of chunky veg and pineapple so no need really to add extra. I wouldn't say that it serves four people, we had it between the two of us, might stretch to three but not really enough for four. I served with Asda frozen chicken chunks, oven cooked for 20 mins, Uncle Ben's egg fried rice to which I added extra mushrooms, onions, peas and soy sauce and Sharwood's prawn crackers. Really delicious fakeaway for a lot less calories than the real thing.

Nice surprise

I actually bought this by accident but it really surprised me as I could not tell it had less sugar. Lots of less calories but taste great, same amount of pineapple. What’s not to like!

Reduced Sugar

The original of this with full sugar was always a favourite sauce of mine. I now use this. Tastes the same, and so easy to use. I literally pop it in the oven with chicken and veg and job done. Tangy, thick consistency works well, and also the fact that it has the sweet pineapple taste.

Such good quality

I love sharwood sauces as they are always such high quality. The jar size is perfect for a family and easily feeds four. They are so simple to cook with just stir them into meat or veg. This sweet and sour sauce is great, it has a wonderful sweet and sour taste and always goes down a treat.

we used to eat this a lot but.

We havent had this sauce for several years and at one time I really like it. However, I dont really like garlic and the garlic is stronger now. My husband isnt keen on vinegar and he said he found it too vinegary. My youngest granddaughter found it too spicy. I have to say I though I would be a great all rounder for the many veggies I have trouble with but, I was wrong. Obviously it had changed to suite a more adult palate.

went down a treat

This sweet and sour sauce is perfect if you are trying to lower your sugar intake. It has the same high quality taste and a good amount of veg and sauce. Easily feed four with chicken and rice. Super easy to cook with as you just stir it into cooked meat of veg and warm through.
