I had to replace my Ultegra crank on an older bike. Being that the 105 was 1/2 the price of the Ultegra it was a no brainer. It's not as light and doesn't match the Ultegra grey, but it works just fine. So I've got a full Ultegra R8000 group set and the mismatched 105 crank. Functionally, I can't really tell a difference, so I'm pleased with the purchase. 105 is good stuff.

Would be 5 stars, but the crank had several scratches on it and the non-drive side crank was loose in the box. Teeth had light, but visible signs of wear. Looks like it had been fitted to another bike at some point. Still works as new and is fine.

Cambria was the only legit retailer with this crank in stock. That in of itself is excellent but I also must say that the speed of shipping was great and the packaging was very thorough. The part arrived in perfect shape and thus far has performed precisely to expectation. It’s 105. It just Works and while you don’t necessarily marvel at any one thing, you’re also never given cause to think about it while you should be concentrating on riding.

bought this as a 'cheap' way to experiment with shorter 165mm length crank over my existing Dura Ace 9000 175mm cranks. experiment a total success as my sore knees that I get after rides have disappeared. Ive done a few 60-70 mile runs now and lots of shorter rides since fitting and the pain after multiple back to back rides has gone. lower back pain I have after getting off the bike is also much less as the angle the leg has to rise to at top of pedal stroke is less and so there is less stretch across the back and so can confirm this works. Wish I did this years ago now. Cant really distinguish I have 105 chainset compared to the dura ace chainset such is the homogeneity of Shimano quality across the ranges. I'm in no rush to put Dura ace back on.
I bought it together some other 105 components to convert my vintage framset in a full post-modern bike (from 7s). It's a great crank for quality/price ratio. Good packing but unfortunately slow shipment.
I bought a "new to me" Cervelo R2 and wanted to upgrade the crankset from the original Shimano FC-RS510. I was looking at the Ultegra R8000 crankset and decided to go with the 105 R7000 to save the money. The Ultegra is only 100 grams lighter than the 105 and with the other great reviews of the 105, I couldn't justify spending the extra money for the lighter weight crankset. The 105 R7000 crankset is lightweight and strong. It was an easy and quick replacement and after adjusting the front derailleur, I was back to riding. I plan on replacing the chainrings with Rotor Q rings and my only complaint is there are not any 105 specific bolts to provide the fairing of the crank to the rings like the Dura ace and Ultegra have available.
I have been a Shimano user since 1985 and never experienced any issues. Have been using my current 105 set since 2012 but as my age dead’s toward 70 my front set is no longer great in hill climbs. My bike service centre recommended I change to my new one and it has made the hills much “flatter”!
Sigma Sport sell good kit. I’ve been using the 105 stuff for maybe 20 years. It’s just got better. The latest 105 kit looks and works really good. Paired with a carbon frame and a good BB it is rock solid. For me the 52 ring gives ideal ratios. 36 is plenty small enough. Any case the secret to steep hills is to avoid them like the plague.
This crank was purchased to replace the original FSA crank on a 2018 Cannondale Quick 1 hybrid. The 105 line strikes a balance between price and performance that's hard to beat. The bike has 105 front and rear derailleurs so the crank was a logical addition. I installed it with an upgraded BB bracket and now have a light and free spinning crank that matches the rest of the bike. I've yet to hit the trails but I know it will be a welcome upgrade when that time arrives. Cambria processing and shipping was fast as always!
Good: works well if you don't do many miles. Not so good: Sometimes chain ring bolts loosen due to prolonged vibration over many miles of cycling. Shimano has moved towards having overmoulded or captured nuts as part of their chain ring design. If you cross thread your bolts or shear the thread by accidently overtightening then the whole crank set needs replacing. Historically the bolts were 'free' and were conveniently individually replacable, allowing maintenance in the field, so to speak. I regard the 'newer' designs as having blatant built-in obsolescence, which will cost you $$$ compared to some other designs.

The prices of road bike components can, at times, be a bit daunting. A crankset can run you a couple car payments or a month's mortgage and might not fit into the budget or slide past the spouse unnoticed. That's why there's Shimano 105. Make no mistake, this isn't budget gear. Its race-worthy equipment designed to be affordable, and since it benefits from Dura-Ace and Ultegra trickle-down technology, it doesn't compromise performance. While the Shimano 105 FC-R7000 Crankset tips the scales at around 100 grams more than its top-end sibling, it's still nowhere near what you'd call heavy. It also shifts with crispness so close to the higher level group that you won't believe that it's less than half the price. Shimano Hollowtech hollow crank arms reduce weight while adding stiffness for more direct power transfer and greater pedaling efficiency. The Hyperdrive 11-speed chainrings, when paired with Shimano's Dual SIS front index shifting, deliver instant, assertive shifts time and time again. Shimano has also increased the space between the large and small rings to reduce chain rub in the small-small gear and a chainline that's optimized for the dropout spacing and chainstay length associated with disc brake road bikes. The Shimano 105 FC 7000 Crankset is available in mid-compact and compact ring options with its asymmetric, 110mm bolt circle diameter. Both versions of this crankset can be had in 170, 172. 5, or 175mm lengths.
